...is this a joke post? You did know that MGS3 takes place in 1964 and MGS1 in early 21st century(2005 to be more precise), right? :P DUH DUH DUH!

:lol honestly it wasn't :P I'm rather retarded! :P

why would that be hard? can't they just make one host the game(giving this player admin status) and let there be three slots open to the public?
I believe the problem is concerning lag.

#71-80: Every character's ability is being refined from the very beginning in order to allow "more freedom" in aerial combat.
Cool, as long as they keep the balance with some characters who are aerial specialists. Right now Jigglypuff, Peach, and Samus are pretty much the indisputed rulers of the air game because they all have amazing maneuverability, and I'd hate to see that lost... Likewise, Metaknight and Pit should be clearly better in the air than most others.

So 15 new characters? Ridley is in at last.

The news abounds in connection with the next bomb of Nintendo.

This time they are new names, in the absence of new faces, which are revealed to us through an interview granted by Masashiro Sakurai to the radio transmission of Tokyo “The Gaming Show”.

It confirmed that the following characters will appear in new the opus of Bros Smash:

Bowser Junior

Ridley, the famous enemy of Samus

Link version Wind Waker

Then certain characters will disappear:

Ice Climbers

Mr. Game & Watch

Link version child

Link version child will not really disappear since it will be simply replaced by the Cell-shading version and its name will be always the same one.

The fans of Falco will be with the angels, since it as confirmed as the characters who do not test formerly that “clones” will remain but will be worked over again to offer a true panel of blows to them.
In his opinion, the lack of interest of the fans for Game & Watch and Ice Climbers were obvious and it has to decide to replace them by Pit of Kid Icarus.

Pit should be the only one representing of the “old school” and the traditional ones.

It finally affirmed that the total number characters should approach forty, leaving place for about fifteen new like one or two characters of third editors.

I think it's a good Idea to take out Link child and replace him with the WW version. I didn't play with G&W, but I don't see enough reason to take him out. Adding Ridley is the shit, nice Sakurai.

And, 40 :O

YES for Ridley. He better be three times bigger than every other character in the game. I'm on the fence with Bowser Jr. If he can throw shells, then that's cool.

I'm guessing 38 characters all up in SSBB.

It finally affirmed that the total number characters should approach forty, leaving place for about fifteen new like one or two characters of third editors.

...what?

Is there some reason Little Mac (or Bald Bull, Glass Joe, King Hippo, Mad Clown, etc.) hasn't been confirmed for this game? All he does is fight.

About 15 new characters, 1 or 2 of which will be 3rd party.

On the topic of gameplay, the Brawl director noted the team is tweaking each character's moveset to allow "more freedom" in aerial combat. Continuing on this point, Sakurai said, "This time, we'd like to stress easiness over the small details of combat, so overall it might become somewhat easier."

Concerning Brawl's online functionality, Sakurai stated that no online ranking system would be implemented, though the recording of a win-loss record wasn't ruled out.

I think it's a good idea to get rid of the ranking system. I hate disconnector.

Great news. The good clones (i.e. Dr. Mario) are here to stay. :D

Sucks, awesome, and awesome.
Then certain characters will disappear:

Ice Climbers

Mr. Game & Watch
NO! :(

Did anyone not think metal Mr. Game and Watch was one of the coolest things ever? And who in the world didn't like him, anyway? Yeah, he never saw tournament play, but as a concept he was great, and he represents a real old-school part of Nintendo's history that most people didn't even know existed.

And Ice Climbers--well, I expect backlash for this one. They were one of my favorites, not to play as so much as to just have in the game because they're so fundamentally different from every other character with the whole two-in-one thing going on. Only way I'll be okay with it is if they put in the Hammer Brothers instead and give them most of the same moves (except B and Down+B would shoot fire instead of ice, Forward+B would be a boomerang, and Up+B would be a hammer throw). Besides, it was always a fun time to play casual four-player matches where everyone picked the Ice Climbers on a relatively small level and nobody had any idea what was going on.
[Edit: No, actually, I take it back, because the Hammer Brothers would be much taller than the Ice Climbers, and it would still be removing one female character from the game.]

And come on, if Bowser Junior makes it in even though absolutely nobody cares, how can you justify taking out G&W and the Ice Climbers? Pichu and Bowser Junior should have been on the cutting block far before them.

...All that said, as long as Jigglypuff, Falco, Luigi, and Dr. Mario are still in, I can't pass up the game. (And the lack of confirmation for removal of Dr. Mario had better mean he's still there, because Mario is a dead character to me as long as he doesn't have the vitamins.) Although, with Falco...
The fans of Falco will be with the angels, since it as confirmed as the characters who do not test formerly that “clones” will remain but will be worked over again to offer a true panel of blows to them.
Well... No, I'm not quite in heaven. (I'm guessing that's the translation.) Although I will be as long as his spike and down-tilt are preserved, since those are pretty much his best moves.
In his opinion, the lack of interest of the fans for Game & Watch and Ice Climbers were obvious and it has to decide to replace them by Pit of Kid Icarus.
I hope the interest in Game and Watch and the Ice Climbers manifests itself now that it's known they're planned to be removed.
It finally affirmed that the total number characters should approach forty, leaving place for about fifteen new like one or two characters of third editors.
Excellent!

Adding Bowser Jr. is a mistake. Nobody likes him. He's annoying.

So I guess this means Ganondorf will have his own move set this time around. Sweet! We can finally use that cool-looking sword of his.

Aren't the clouds nice today?

SpiffyG said:

Yep.

I should learn Japanese just so I can flood them with negative feedback about his inclusion at the expense of other infinitely more compelling characters--as well as even more of an overbalance of Mario characters.

...And I still want my Marin from Link's Awakening.

Anyone notice that he didn't mention Pichu being removed? Implies that he thinks he's popular.

And 15 characters? Wow, so awesome. Not.

Mewtwo
Mr. Game & Watch
Ice Climbers
Princes Peach
Marth
Roy
Ganondorf
Young Link
Bowser
Falco Lombardi
Dr. Mario
Princess Zelda/Sheik
Pichu

So we'll get two more than last gen? Whoop dee doo. Hell, this math doesn't even work - it won't be 25 + 15 = 40, since we're losing two characters and one is being replaced with a new version. So it's 22 + 15 = 37, so really, if we take into account the two characters they're losing to add in these, let's call it 13, the same number as new characters in SSBM.

Bowser Jr is unneeded, bring back the Koopa Kids! I think the problem though is having all of them in the game, thusly why BJ was brought in.

No Game and Watch and Ice Climbers is sad. I thought they sucked, but at least they were interesting. I can't think of any other characters Nintendo could bring as dynamic as those two (well, three).

So no more classic characters, and fifteen more to go? As for the 3rd party, I want Sonic and/or Mega Man. The only other character I really want is anyone from Advance Wars. AW has gotta be represented!

You're complaining about only 13 new characters? Jesus Christ.

I've heard this rumour before but unless it comes from the Smash Bros English or Japanese site I'm not buying it. Ice Climbers MUST stay and Bowser Jr. must stay AWAY! Ridley would be sweet though.

Christ, we've only seen ONE new Mario character announced and you're already up in arms?

Yes, complaining about how they gave us the same amount of characters as SSBM did. This is a massive jump in space available to them, and they can only give us the same amount of characters that SSBM did?

Would you prefer more characters or more time focused on gameplay and level/item design?

I think each Smash Brothers should be a celebration of the old, and a recognition of the new. Frankly, Nintendo hasn't created enough new memorable characters since SSBM aside from Olimar, K.K. Slider, and Resetti.

K.K. Slider with a guitar attack would be pretty unexpected, and AWESOME.

You would constnatly hear "Naw, naw, me, naw, naw naw, me naw, naw, naw, me, naw." as he played tunes of varying damage and used his guitar as a blunt object.

It's not really a matter of space, it's a matter of finding character that's would actually work and then programming moves for them. Does anyone really want to see Toad mixing it up in there, or various other crappy characters, just for the sake of adding new characters?

I highly doubt you were disappointed when they added 13 new characters going from SSB to SSBM, and now there's even less popular characters to choose from, so 13 added again is pretty damn great, even if one is Bowser Jr.

And like Nickovic said, I only want the character in the game if they can come up a with balanced, fun moveset. 13 new characters is more than I expected. Just be happy. You know you are.

Except that they REMOVED two characters who already HAD moves and replaced them with one.

Replacing Young Link with Cel-shaded Link.. hmm.. ok fair trade.

Bowser Jr.. hmm, i dont mind the cute little thing, but kind of expected i suppose.

Ridley, well, what a surprise, cool enough but lets see how they implement it.

If Ice Climbers are really gone (they really shouldn't), im going to miss them alot, i play with them from time to time and they're great fun to use
G&W though, hmmm... not my concern.

Hm... these news are kind of doubtful. Isn't the source some French site which claims to have translated a Japanese radio interview? I'd guess such interview would be in more places by now...

In his opinion, the lack of interest of the fans for Game & Watch and Ice Climbers were obvious and it has to decide to replace them by Pit of Kid Icarus.

This makes the whole thing even more doubtful. Sakurai has said that he isn't only interested in popular characters, and that he wouldn't like to make a game only with popular characters (in a reply to a Japanese fan).

The fans of Falco will be with the angels, since it as confirmed as the characters who do not test formerly that “clones” will remain but will be worked over again to offer a true panel of blows to them.

Hm... Sakurai, in the original SSBM, called those 6 characters "extra characters" (differently from the five "secret characters"), not "clones". Of course, that might be just a comment from the site, and not a translation of Sakurai's supposed quote...

so... is this real? seems kinda silly removing IC since they have their own move-set....

+1 for KK

I also want Ryu Hayabusa and Master Chief in the game. Kasumi or Ayane would be cool.

If the character was Daisy*, Waluigi, or Toad, I wouldn't have a problem. But it's Bowser Jr. replacing someone important. At best, he'd probably be like Young Link is to Link, except that people actually liked Young Link.
...Although, I will admit, if instead of Bowser's Down+B crushing move, he has a transformation into Shadow Mario, the whole thing might be redeemed.

*Assuming Daisy was not a clone of Peach, which she really shouldn't be since theoretically she's supposed to be the more tomboyish of the two and would probably have less "delicate" strikes.

They have lots of characters they can still add. Any combination of Daisy, Waluigi, King Dedede, Marin/Malon/Romani, Andy, Sami, Sturm, Lyndis, Hector, Eirika, Ephraim, Little Mac, Olimar, Tom Nook, anyone from Golden Sun, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, Jill (Drill Dozer), Twinrova, Ganon (as opposed to Ganondorf), loads of choices from Pokemon (Sceptile/Grovyle, Blaziken, Deoxys, plus whatever could represent the fourth gen), Fawful, Kamek, Blood Falcon, Samurai Goroh, Deathborn...

Not much I wouldn't give to have Kasumi in, but it's been said that the third-party characters have to appeared on a Nintendo console before.

How about this major stretch: Misty in Japan is called Kasumi. How about Misty can change into Itagaki's Kasumi a la Zelda/Sheik? Or a cheat code could do it.
