Milk in a bag rocks. Ketchup chips rock. Sour Keys rock the faces off of anything on earth! And poutine is a god damn god send from the heavens above!

Too bad I live in a country where they have the audacity to sell THIS

Strawberry chocolate covered cheetos. BLECH.

Holy shit. I want to try these, it's like the snack food equivalent of a train wreck.

I've only ever had poutine when I was drunk (road trips to McGill, <3) but it was great, more memorable than the "smoked meat," really. Other than that, the bagged-milk phenomenon is still what interests me most about Canada.

how can anyone say poutine is nasty? its fries + gravy + cheese.... what is wrong with you people!!!!

fries aren't meant to have either of those things. it's ketchup, and if you're british, vinegar. that's it.

what were you doing there? obviously not being in b.c., the far superior province, that's for sure.
I was on vacation!

I've done B.C. too and it's pretty awesome. All I have left is Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Ontario on my to do list in Canada. :D

What the hell do you do with the rest of the milk after you open the bag?

Put it in a jug?

You clearly haven't tried fries with mayo.

Is this a regional thing or something? Because... we don't have that out west. But then again, I rarely go into the chips aisle. :lol
These are everywhere in the south. I could get you a bag or two if you want

Pretty much.

OH GOD :( I practically lived off these as a kid when I lived in Iceland, and was so disappointed to find that you cannot get these in America without going to a specialty grocery store. I buy them at World Market now. M&Ms don't even come CLOSE to the magic that is Smarties.

If you can't appreciate the beauty of that, then you should definitely come up to Canada once in a while to learn our... charm.

I'd love to go to Canada someday. I've never seen french fries with gravy and cheese. It looks bizarre.

That's the thing... we don't seem to have those chips in Ontario either.
I need them!
They're almost as good as these:

Those chips are not bad, but I was disappointed by them. I expect something hot that has "Death" in the title to be a real tongue scorcher, and Blair's Death Rain does not live up to those expectations.

Well, its not cheese... if you do it with normal cheese it kind of sucks

Cheese curds, gravy, fries = OMFG good

mozza cheese, cheddar cheese... if you use anything but cheese curds expect nothing but gross or meh

but when it is curds... its a joygasm for the mouth

Seriously though, I dont think I can ever go to the US... no ketchup chips? The best chip in everness?

Fair enough. They are the hottest chips I've had though and that's why I like them.
Have you had anything hotter?

Real sugar for the win. It tastes sweeter and isn't nearly as acidic as the US Coke. I love it.

Just so you know, Canadian Coke is not made with real sugar, it's all in your head. American and Canadian Coke are identical. The only cane sugar Coke in Canada, is during Passover. I bought 5 2Lt bottles this week.

Poutine is actually the best thing ever. I get it everywhere I go, KFC, Burger King, and my favorite at All Star Wings in Toronto with bacon on top. Mmmmmm

I'm always amazed when Americans act like Poutine is some freaky and disgusting food. It's french fries with gravy and cheese. Sure they're curds but their taste is very mild. Americans love gravy. Americans eat cheese fries. Voila.

After seeing pictures... I really want to try it. I could try to make some, but I'm a horrible cook. Any places in Cali with poutine? Doubtful, but who knows.
There's probably somewhere that serves it. The difficulty is that the dish needs cheese curds, which are only edible for a day or so after forming, and which are normally just a transitory stage in the cheese-making process.

Carne asada fries put poutine to shame in terms of fat and greasiness, too. And that ain't "Mexican" food, people.

Are these available in the US? I feel sorry for you guys if they aren't. Sea Salt & Malt Vinegar = awesome. I figure they've gotta be sold some place in the States.

I'm Canadian and I still :lol at the sight of milk bags.

Same. I can't remember the last time I got bagged milk. We just get the plastic jugs from Macs. Milk in a bag is hilarious imo, my roomates in College only bought it in bags for some reason. Then again I also saw water in a bag up here... I couldn't believe that shit.

Curds last longer than that. I've had 2 bags of curds in my fridge (orange and white) for about a week now. As long as they are sealed, they last a while.

If you're in Southern Cal, go to the Canadian Cafe in Monrovia. They serve some pretty good poutine.

i'd be willing to try poutine. I mean, it's hard to dislike fried foods with gravy.

ketchup chips sound kind of interesting.

Ugh, fuck you YakiSOBA.. Now I need to go to New York Fries tonight for dinner and grab THE BEST POUTINE IN ONTARIO.

Goddamn it's good.

Funny sidestory: When I was in San Francisco for GDC, we all went to the cheescake factory by union square, and when I ordered my meal with fries, I asked for a side of gravy -- they looked at me like I was from another planet.

Didn't know it was so uncommon... anyways, never got the gravy because they didn't serve any food that required gravy to prepare... So dissapointed.

Also the whole pop/cola/soda thing is a bit annoying, but most places now understand the 'lingo'.

edit: Side story #2:

at GDC there was the Canada Games 2008 party at Jillians, and they were serving Canadian Beer (brewed in the states, so it was still shit.. but almost worth drinking) and Poutine.

The servers had NO idea what the hell they were serving, but we were all eating it up and being in a state of heaven. One waitress said she tried it and it was one of the best things she's ever tasted, but was afraid because she had no clue what it was.

Gravy + Cheese + Fries sounds great. Similar to Chili + Cheese + Fries which is AWESOME.

Those pictures look FUCKING DISGUSTING though. Is it cold gravy and cheese? Why is the cheese not melted? Why is it in huge chunks that look like butter to me.

They are where I'm from (around Seattle).
