Sneaking a pup into a "No pets allowed" building. Any tips?

Three friends and myself are going to a concert, we are all meeting at one friend's apartment first for a few drinks before the show, the apartment happens to be next to the concert venue. The rest of us are from out of town,

trouble is my friend has a dog and she cannot leave her at home. she's gonna bring it into said apartment. it's a somewhat classy building with concierge at the front desk, but the building's lobby is quite busy, people walking in and out.

The dog is a well behaved miniature Schnauzer, she is boss, very quiet and very obedient.

I kind of have a game plan to sneak it in the building but nothing solid yet, any tips how to get a small dog past the concierge in the lobby and into the elevator, I am paranoid that she might bark, even though she's not the type, but you never know with these dogs.

I talked to my friend (who owns the apartment) He was pretty cool about it, said as long as the dog doesn't bark loud in the apartment. Obviously I don't want him to get in trouble, any tips GAF?

Put the dog in a kennel. This can only end with the dog being scared, hurt, or some comically chaotic scene right out of a mid 80's sitcom where the dog breaks free and causes mayhem.

I don't see why the dog has to be there. The building has a no pet rule.

If there is no other option, it seems more fair for your friend with the dog to not go rather than risk getting the friend who lives in the building in trouble.

I work in a pet-free hotel. If we catch someone sneaking a pet in, we void out their keys before they make it to their room. If they manage to get it past us and into their room, we charge them $150 and kick them out of the hotel.

Of course, an apartment building is going to have different policies. Just don't fuck around unless you're willing to deal with some consequences.

A stroller

She does have one of these babies for the pup

And honestly it fools a lot of people in thinking she is wheeling a luggage, until they look again to see that there's a dog in it, but still too risky, maybe put a coat/jacket on it to cover it?

I have a regular suitcase (on wheels), maybe should ask my friend if that is ok to use, just leave the zipper open for some breathing or is that too cruel for the pup? I may need to distract the concierge while my friend goes in the elevator or maybe use the stairs? ugh!

EDIT: there's also cameras in the elevator and all over the damn lobby...

It's actually a condo and the friend who lives there owns it, he pays his mortgage, I mean, they can't kick him out of a condo he owns, but they may fine him I guess??

I am more concerned about the dog barking while in the apartment. the good news is, my friends younger brother and his gf are going to be in the apartment all night, the dog wont be alone, and she is very friendly, so hopefully she'll never bark, she loves ppl, (strangers alike) she only barks at other dogs...

Why can't she leave it home?

She brings the dog to work everyday, home is too far away, not enough time to go and drop off the dog, plus, she does't like leaving her alone for long hours. I am no dog owner, so it beats me!

Dress it like a baby with a bonnet and stroller. The guy at the front desk will look in and make a gruesome face but dare not say anything to you about this ugly baby. Laugh track, fade to commercial break.

I wouldn't attempt it. If the dog gets out of the room, (and if it's anything like our mini Schnauzer) it is going to wreak havoc. It's happened to us before, and he almost ran out of the hotel.

Put the dog in a large purse and zip it up enough that there's some breathing hole for it. Take it up the the apartment and leave it in a cage or something until the concert is over.

The dog is super well trained, very obedient, she will stay put for hours end until you come back and tell her to get up, I'm concerned about that one random bark in the lobby, that will blow everything we worked for...

Also concerned about other tenants/guests in the elevator ratting on us, it's a very heavy traffic building, you will hardly get a chance to be in the elevator alone. Stairs coudl be an option but it's 25 floors up! yeeesh!

This is a decent idea.

More importantly why didnt your friend spend some of that concert money on putting the dog in a proper "pet hotel" for a night? Serious question and not trying to slight the situation you are faced with.

I really don't know, how much such doggy hotels cost? can the dog stay there overnight? since we might crash at my buddy's post concert.

Try doing some searches in the local area. By far the safest solution really. Seeing how you have a constant internet connection and some time to spare hopefully something will come up? Plus does not put your other friend / you folks in jeopardy with trying to do something that goes against the rules of a particular venue. Even more so considering said place where one of your friends lives.

Do not do anything stupid that might result in the dog getting taken, stolen, hurt or dead. That is the only advice I can give :P

It works, my mom has done it several times at my grandma's place. They don't allow pets there either and she easily sneaks our shih-tzu in.

Miniature Schnauzers are a tad bigger than shih-tzu's though, we will need a bigger purse/bag.

That stupid dog is my friend's life, she wont let anything happen to her, no worries.

You can even get a cane and glasses to make it more realistic

ha!

It's your apartment? Don't give a shit. Just take it in. It's not staying for a long time, so just take it and if anyone gives you shit, just tell them it's there temporarily and it'll be gone shortly.

These policies revolve around owning a pet, not bringing one in briefly.

Id say read the actual policy rather than making broad assumptions. I mean shit in this day and age we have folks getting threatened to be evicted due to flying the american flag and such IN AMERICA of all things too.

The younger brother of the owner of the apartment that I mentioned earlier, used to live in the same apartment and he had a cat there for months.

Cats are less maintenance than dogs and definitely a lot quieter but, non the less, the guy is not new to having (unauthorized) pets in his apartment.

Best thing to do is have a talk with the dog owner friend tomorrow, and make sure she can handle it.

I still think putting the dog in a full size suitcase on wheels is the best option, very stealthy.

It's not HIS apartment, it's the owners apartment & the rules set up for them are no pets to be able to rent.
Pretty simple.

Well you're no fun at all are you?

I dont see the harm in this one time. Pretty sure this girl really wants to go to this concert, you dont have to be so strict on everything your entire life.

You are breaking your lease. Prepare to get evicted.

Put the dog in doggy daycare with an overnight kennel! You wouldn't want him stuck in a cage the whole time. :(

Put all of your clothes on like normal but buy a shirt or jacket that's way too tall for you. Pull your head inside of it like a turtle, and place the dog on top of your head so that only its head comes out of the shirt/jacket. Then it'll just look like you are a dogman and you can stroll right in.

This isn't worth possible run ins with lease infractions/issues. Tell her to handle her business properly if she wants to go. If I were the apartment owner, I wouldn't even let her come by. Not worth the possible drama.

Alright so I convinced her to take dog elsewhere. Crisis diverted I guess, she has someone taking care of the pup that night. Tame Impala concert here we come.

PS: Did enjoy all the hilarious and ridiculous suggestions(Dogman) thanks guys.

Just sneak it in a bag or something, block the view of the guard..If you're caught just say, "Oh I didn't know. We're just babysitting for tonight." It's not a big deal to get caught, but I doubt you will. If the dog is small enough to be snuck in, it can't be that big of a deal.

Ahh my bad, you mean if she can get a friend. Apologies. I misread your post. Well she lives in the middle of buttfuck nowhere alone, and I guess either way she has no one to sit her, except she just texted about 10 minutes ago and said she "took care of the pup for the concert" so I imagine she in fact found a sitter.

Dog pics incoming in a few minutes (soon as I get off the can) for cute factor...

Living in the 'burbs is always shit if you want to do stuff in the city at night.

No pets allowed to live and stay right? One night shouldn't be a problem and my guess is you're overthinking it. If your friend gets in trouble. Say he/she needs it medically. As emotional psychological support.

Well, its not their rule to decide whether or not they want to be lenient or not. The building has every right to say "no pets" and if you sign an agreement acknowledging that then you have to follow the rule. Some people have allergies to animals (some very extreme) and the rule is there to protect them. They pay to live in the building and have the expectation that no animals will be around so you could actually be risking someone else's health as well.

However, chances are you can walk right through the door with the dog since its not really a "pet" and will only be there briefly. But if anything happens while the pet is there, you will only have yourselves to blame (especially if the presence causes illness or injury as you will be liable for those damages - including any reckless endangerment).
