So about that Brie Larson ET Avengers interview...

I'll throw a wild, off the wall bet in for funsies.
I usually make bad bets

After film releases/ reviews are out and hype begins to die off.
My bet is that Brie starts saying that she was bullied by the rest of the cast.
In the form of, everyone was having fun without me and I felt excluded.

If only we had gotten Emily Blunt. In a parallel world she was Captain Marvel and didn't do the Mary Poppins 2 Bomba.

Emily would have probably had great chemistry with her castmates.

I'd be 100% shocked if Bree isn't in on the joke.

I don't know about that.
I remember hearing about the other female actresses not getting on with her. In my very unprofessional assessment of her (just going of interviews and her acceptance speech) is, she seems very sure of herself and beliefs. Something that might not mix well with the other actors who seem well aware that they are making films for kids and teenagers. They all seem more relaxed and have fun in interviews.

Maybe i'm way off the mark which defiantly isn't unknown for me but let's see how it plays out.

Just the most insufferable unlikable person in the world. Thank god she has a job where people tell her what to say and do, if she was functioning in the work market interacting with the general public she wouldn't last a day without being fired for being a dick to a customer

I've watched all of these videos and I have to agree with some of the other posters. There's not a lot to go on here. They're razzing her and she's trying to give it back a bit and she's just not good at it. It's I'm sure difficult to come in to the fold at the point when everyone else has built up a comradery with each other.

And the Renner interview... both of them looked like they were tired of giving interviews. I know those interviews are there to generate free advertising, but dude. Most of them are sooo boring. The only ones that are good are the ones where the actors basically take over and turn it into a big joke. Imagine being asked those questions over and over. You know those journalists never do their homework to come up with interesting questions.

Not defending her though. She does come across as self centered and not showing a little humility makes it hard to endear herself to the fans and collegues.

Elizabeth Olsen was one of those women if I recall.

Why would Cheadle even comment on that

lol maybe ask Terrence Howard

i can't imagine being a celebrity who actively & directly talks to strangers on the internet. you are asking for your own stalker at this point

Isn't he super liberal? Him circling the wagons at a moment's notice is par for the course with them.
yes

Cheadal laughed at things both Hemsworth and Larson said. I don't see any conflict going on. At the press conference they were all joking about some game called Boggle or something. Again Hemswoth and Larson were joking about who was better.

So I've heard people mention the Renner interview and the Cheadle interview but I hadn't seen them until just now and damn
, those are painful. I actually kind of feel bad for her, that's embarrassing

A lot of this must go beyond just some comments she made, must be on-set issues

This has been a weird thing for me with Brie Larson.

I think she is a great actress, and was super excited about her being cast in Captain Marvel.

And then this whole wave of negativity came about because of a couple of interviews. And I thought maybe the negativity was coming from some masculine deep dark place on the internet. People hating her because she is a strong woman speaking out.

But after watching a lot of these interviews, or YouTube speeches, she does come off terribly.

Like a sheltered, Hollywood, not really able to communicate with the public sort of way. Just in a super bubble.

And I just saw Captain Marvel today, because we have Endgame coming up. And I think she did a great job. The movie was decent, middle of the road Marvel, but I thought she was great in it.

But man does she need to bring that charisma to her public appearances.

And my hope is that she will. But as sort of silly, and a bit nasty as her comments have been, I know she has received it ten fold back. And I find it hard to imagine that all of the negativity is something she will learn from. Not because the negativity is warranted, but who actually learns from an Internet gangbang such as this?

From getting back from avengers endgame there is a part towards the end that is really forced down your throats around this very topic...I'm not gonna spoil it but you will know it when you see it.

She's very sure of herself, but some introspection would do her a lot of good. She comes across as socially inept more than anything.

She was home schooled and enrolled in acting school at age six. No regular school or college.

I read somewhere that her parents were both holistic healers. One of my first girlfriends in high school reminds me of her. Very pretty but when you really got to know her you were like 😳

I didn't know this. This seems to explain quite a bit.

She's socially awkward, for sure. Her confidence almost hurts more than it helps in this case because she doesn't realize how people are perceiving her. I've coached teenagers like this and it always pained me knowing when a kid had a good heart but wasn't liked by their peers for behavior and mannerisms similar to what we see here.

In the Renner interview she at least seemed somewhat "apologetic" admitting that she has room to grow and improve. To me that was as close to getting a "I meant what I said but wish I had said it differently" we will get from her, and for me that is enough as I still her heart was in the right place during that Wrinkle in Time/White Men speech, I just think she delivered it terribly.

I won't hold being unlikable against her too much, as a person, but I still wish someone more charismatic was cast as a Marvel lead.

Yeah nothing she has said has bothered me personally but I understand white guys being like c'mon mang. As I said I think she's ackward and not in a quirky, irreverent/appealing way like Aubrey Plaza. She seems pretty stressed by the attention.

Either she's just fully committed to this unlikable persona and doesn't care, or it's just who she really is deep down and isn't gonna change.

I don't hate her, she doesn't anger me (or hasn't yet) but she lacks real charisma and it's a shame.

Short Term 12 basically introduced to me her and that movie was impactful for me, I don't think she's a bad actress by any stretch but she's just not "Marvel Material" imo. Charisma and charm just aren't there both on screen and off screen.

I wonder what the co-stars truly think about her, behind closed doors and whatnot. I wonder how it's like to work with her on set.
She was cute when she was modeling, in Scott Pilgrim and also 21 Jump Street. Hell, even in Free Fire. She just has this standoffish attitude. Maybe it was her Oscar award? Her (self) righteous mission to use her position for progress? I don't know why she she comes across the way she does. Now that I read that she was homeschooled, that seems to make sense.

She was fire here, now, not so much.

Here is an interview with Ellen where Brie looks much more at ease. Not excusing her previous tries, but here she's laughing, having a good time and even takes it in stride when ellen gets the name of her movie wrong. I think she's just not use to the public and is trying to make it seem like she's always been that popular.

This is a mostly positive presentation of herself with the only two negative things are:

1. She's among women so maybe she's only uncomfortable around men?

2. She looks very average sitting next to the smoke show, Scarlett Johansson.
