So Chipotle is pretty damn good...

I always wanted to try a quesorritta

But a) Idk if they do that at all locations, b) how much extra that costs, c) how much longer it'll take, d) will people behind me hate me for it taking so long lol

From what I understand it's not an officially supported food item so it's up the servers choice if they'll even make it for you and they'll often say no if there's a long line.

You mean Freebirds?
Freebirds is not Qdoba, even though they have seemed to take over failing Qdoba locations. Their offerings are still slightly different than Qdoba's.

Chipotle's meat sucks. It's always dried out to me and horrible flavors. As my bf calls these places, it's the "white man's burrito" because you won't find a mexican there (unless being dragged in by a white girlfriend). A mexican taco shop or taco truck costs maybe $5-6 for a good size burrito.

Love Chipotle. Be sure to try their barbacoa.
Good first post. I think barbacoa is superior to chicken. Though I do enjoy the fact that I can get chicken AND barbacoa with guac on the same freaking burrito. Gotta love Chipotle. They should open a branch in the Middle East goddamn it!!!

Bfft! I am partially Mexican and I take offense to that.
People looking for better quality Tex Mex, will be delighted at any of the restaurants listed above.

Those of us in the know will always fare better at holes in the wall, taco trucks (none of the big names), or small ops which maybe illegal.

I've worked there for 5 months, have eaten it everyday, still look forward to my free meal. It is delicious beyond measure.

White rice, pinto beans, steak, little pico, cheese and lettuce with 3 corn tortillas on the side is my current go-to

B. It's the price of burrito plus a large quesadilla
C. Awhile, it takes about a minute for the press to melt the cheese
D. Yes, as well as the workers

Welcome to the gang. Once you in, you in for life!

Chicken or Barbacoa, cilantro white rice, pico de gallo, corn salsa, sour cream, cheese, peppers/onions, no beans of any kind and a side of friggin HONEY-CHIPOTLE VINAIGRETTE. My day is totally ruined if they run out of vinaigrette. I needs it.

What is this honey-chipotle vinaigrette you speak of?

Chipotle is simply the GOAT lifting food, there is no other comparison. I get one scoop of chicken with brown rice, 3 scoops of black beans and various salsas and its like 80+ grams of protein.

I prefer mucho burrito. More value for the dollar, but one particular location near a buddy's place gives gargantuan portions.

Chipotle's guac charge is downright offensive. It's a third of the cost of the entire dammed burrito for a dollop; ridiculous!

Having said that, their burritos are indeed tasty and quite filling. Didn't know about the half and half option, so maybe I'll have it for dinner tomorrow.

Hahahahahahahahah

Sooooooooo true.

Find a burrito cart. 90% chance it'll be better.

Well not everyone lives in an area with burrito carts. Gotta take what you can get. Where I'm from, it's pretty much Taco Bell, Qdoba, or Chipotle for a quick burrito. Chipotle wins easily.

Barbacoa small quesadilla. Do it now.

You can also ask for double chicken.

Are you sure? They're more prevalent than Taco Bell in Western Washington, which isn't exactly a high Hispanic population area.

Burrito bowl. Brown Rice + Beef + Corn + Hot Salsa + Cilantro.

You can add more if you like, but that's a damn good base.

If you're feeling like you want two or three meals in one, you can ask them to make a quesadilla and put that around the burrito.

Don't actually do that. It will kill you.
He's right. I needed three days for my stomach to recover after trying the quesarrito.

You'll burn out from Chipotle quickly tho. I rarely go there anymore.

Chipotle is pretty rad. Even here in LA where one can get lots of "proper" Mexican food, it's still pretty tasty. I've been there many times over the years, but find that they often skimp on the meat in the tacos, sadly.

About 10 years ago we used to go there on Thursdays for lunch. This place in the Valley would charge like 3.50 for margaritas, and make them like double-strong. We'd get back to the office all lit up for the afternoon meetings - bad habits!!

Also a bit of warning to ya. The bowls are a good deal (tons of food) but their Eco-packaging is for shit and leaks thru... Don't get it to go. It'll soak through the bowl container, which will eat right thru the bag and could fall right out. It sucks. It's happened to me a few times (they replaced for free when it happened to me right in the store). I should complain on their FB...

Also I dug Baja Fresh (#2) and Rubios is acceptable as well.

It's the salad dressing. Some locations have begun charging for it though, especially if it is during times when a lot of customers are in line. I'm fine with the charge though because it makes the bowls that much more amazing.

Bowl + Dressing + side of chips + soda = a very, very satisfied man

I have been eating it quite a bit lately and feel like I might hit my burn-out soon so I'll take a few weeks off and be back at it again.

It's good, but Freebirds is better. So good.
Ugh. Freebirds in my city was a toxic place one time I went there.

The food literally tasted like chemicals and it was pretty disgusting. I guess it was the location, because I don't think I've had that issue with their food somewhere else.

So hungry for a Chipotle burrito right now!

Steak burrito with white rice, black beans, corn salsa, hot salsa, cheese and extra sour cream.

I think I know what I'm getting for lunch tomorrow!

One thing I can say though is that I have taken for granted the amazing Mexican fare we have in SoCal. Absolutely nowhere else, not even NYC, SF (sorry but a burrito filled with rice and other carbs ain't no match for carne asada fries), or any big metro area does Mexican (okay more like American style Mexican food) right other than SoCal, Texas-Mexico border or anywhere near the border really.

I can see why Taco Bell and Chipotle would be popular in other parts of the country for that reason. Many literally do not know any better.

I had Chipotle for the first time the other day. I got a chicken burrito with rice, pinto beans, cheese, and salsa. Didn't really like it tbh. It tasted dry :/ I'll check out the other items before I make a judgement.

Carnitas is the only meat that matters.

Plus black beans and white rice....... DAMN.

Throw some hot sauce and cheese and lettuce in there........ DAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN.

Yeah, I think I've been charged for it before, but like you said, it's worth it. I would seriously chug a cup of that stuff right now. Mind you, I'm starving and working the midnight shift at the moment.

Dafuq are you equating GOATpolte with the Bell? Taco Bell is dog food flavored, Chipotle is almost as good as good as the authentic stuff. And I've been to Puerto Rico, the Yucatan, SoCal, etc.

It's great, just be prepared for the shit-stained underwear later...

Have you visited a doctor recently? You really need to if rice, beans, meat, and some tomatoes are giving you digestive problems.

That's why I do double salsa (hot, specifically - but you do your own heat level), to fix that exact issue. Some people like their burritos dry, but I prefer mine with a lot more moisture.

Chipotle is good. Like it better than Qdoba, Hothead, or Baja Fresh. Much better flavor than any of those, though I'd probably put Baja Fresh at 2nd. Hothead is bland and boring.

You forgot the sour cream, that's why. Their sour cream is awesome too.

I like that barbacoa, aka the meat of champions, was the first suggestion. Carnitas is good too. When people tell me all they have ever gotten is chicken, it kills me. Spend that extra fifty cents or a dollar or whatever for a meat upgrade, it is so worth it.

People always talk about the theoretical perfect Chipotle, where all of the meat and beans are fresh and still hot and the tortillas haven't been sitting out open for 6 hours. Whenever I eat there, this is not the experience I get. The meats are lukewarm from sitting in the pans for too long, they get chewy and flavorless. The chicken is overcooked and has badly charred edges. The barbacoa has dried out because they drain the tray. The beans have started to congeal together. The tortillas have started to harden around the edges. It's a problem with the format of the restaurant and the realities of their business model. They simply can't have properly fresh prepared food available all the time.

At their best, the food is pretty good. But like Panda Express, I almost never actually get fresh food from them.

Yeah, but that's not the model they're operating on...obviously, they're trying to serve as many people as possible in a short time frame, while still being a cut above competitors.

For that, the price is pretty damn good...

The best is ordering and paying ahead of time with the app, then walking past 50 people waiting in line and immediately getting your burrito bowl.
The only way to do it. I make sure to give some smirks and winks to the people in line on my way out. (Not really.)

Honestly, the food is so bad sometimes that it becomes inferior to standard fast food. And if I'm looking to spend $8 on a decent, fast casual meal, I'll go to Smashburger and get an actually freshly cooked burger and fries.

Mine is always fresh, but then again, I'm generally going at peak times when they're changing items out often. That said, there are good and bad days there where the meat is overcooked some, or steak is a little undercooked, whatever the case is. The food isn't 100% consistent like Mcdonalds, but honestly, that makes me feel a little better about it eating it. It's not all frozen and just reheated.

Why don't you guys go to a taco truck instead?

They are usually much cheaper, faster to deliver the order (more than a "fast-food" place), with non-processed food, and tastier.
