So Chipotle is pretty damn good...

Authetic doesn't matter to me. It's about what it tastes like. I can't believe someone, especially mexican, would dislike mole though. Topolobampo in Chicago has this mole and wild lamb dish that is straight up epic.

Select burrito, note the sodium level for the tortilla.

Portillo's nutritional guide is not working on the parent site. 3rd parties list the Italian beef with bread at 350mg.

Funny thing I noticed when worked at amazon, Indian people LOVE chipotle. Anyone else have this experience?

Most of my coworkers at amazon were from India, and they love chipotle. They always want to go, when their families visit them, they go eat there, and everyone talks about how it is the best thing ever. Sort of blew my mind.

I've got one within walking distance of my place... I love em.

My personal wrap:

Double wrapped burrito, white rice, chicken, sour cream & cheese.

My Indian friends love it too. Well, they like everything except things with too much cheese. India is not a cheese culture lol

Just got Chipotle thanks to this goddamn thread. They were nearly out of chicken, not enough for me to get a double without waiting for the next batch, so the motherfucker just pretended he couldn't hear me when I said "double." I even held up two fingers, dammit. Guess I'll just have to go back tomorrow!

Dude everyone I know likes Chipotle. I know I prefer going to a straight mexican place though because I need to have buche or cabeza. I know that if you order the consume on the weekends at mexican spots, that is probably just as salty or more salty than Chipoltle and it's not even close. It tastes pretty good.

Sounds like your Chipotle is just poorly run, or you have incredibly high standards.

Every Chipotle near me is like this. There was one that I used to go to that was consistent, but that was right next to a massive college with 50000 students so they were constantly churning out fresh food.

Having it for birthday lunch with my mom today. Fucking love me some Chipotle for semi quick and semi cheap burrito's on nights when I am def not cooking. I've had bland food and Chipotle is definitely not Luby's. Compared to Mission or Bullritos or Freebirds, Chipotle is king. Gimme BUT I also don't like sauces, don't eat pork at all and rarely eat beef soo...take that for what you will.

Who gives a shit about food being authentic if it's tasty and fills my stomach fine. This authentic bullshit is going out of hand

Seriously. While I can see why some people would desire authentic ethnic food, Chipotle does very little to try to sell itself as such.

Instead, it offers obviously Mexican-inspired food using natural ingredients without the need to pay for a sit-down place.

Funny, after viewing this thread yesterday evening and this morning, I decided to have Chipotle today. Thanks for the half and half suggestion!

Dude... their meat is the same as the one from McDonalds. Literally. It only has different shape.

Don't believe me? Google it.

The company is called OSI.

Not the chicken or steak, apparently:

it supplies numerous big-name chains including Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc., for which it cooks some beans and carnitas and barbacoa meats.

I have heard specifically that their chicken is sourced locally, at least here in NE Ohio.

Just saw that. Damn.

Don't care, must eat burritos....

Edit: Holy shit if I got double meat on my usual (white, black, carnitas, hot sauce, cheese, lettuce), it comes in at double the recommended daily intake at 3000mg of Sodium.

None of what he posted means that the same meat is used at both places, just means that the same supplier supplies meat to Mcdonalds and Chipotle. They also supply meat to most of the restaurant chains.

None of what he posted, but he did claim that it was the 'exact same meat, just in a different shape for Chipotle' which is pretty nuts.

Never had barbacoa or sofritas. Would doing half-and-half with these work well or be weird?

Nah. Sofritas is heavier with seasoning though so ask them for a sample of it first before dumping it in with barbacoa. Some people find it too "salty". I think it's fine but I would need something extra since the flavor isn't enough for me alone.

Barbacoa is goat though. I get it every time.

The sofritas are really good. I love meat but it's always a coin toss between sofritas and something else when I go to Chipotle.

i highly recommend asking them to wrap your burrito in a quesadilla. I've been doing it for a month or two and it fills me up and is tasty

Yep, saw the same sign posted while in Chipotle today... Here's an article in regards to the sign.

http://www.philly.com/philly/business/20150113_ap_ff4fa613c05c4987a8399d702ee14c12.html

Arnold said most of the issues related to the violations concerned the housing for the pigs. Chipotle demands that its suppliers raise pigs in humane conditions with access to the outdoors, rather than in cramped pens.

On other occasions, Chipotle customers may have noticed signs saying a restaurant is serving meat that doesn't meet the company's "responsibly raised" standards. That's typically because Chipotle has trouble securing supplies of beef raised without antibiotics or hormones, Arnold said. The company then serves beef that was "conventionally raised."

I'm OK with this.

I grab a chicken bowl with brown rice a few hours before heavy lifting days. Good amount of protein and the carbs give me tons of energy and stamina in the gym.

I eat chipotle when I want authentic Chipotle food. If I want authentic Mexican food, I'll go to Mexico. All other authentic Mexican food is false.

There's nothing better than an authentic Mexican meal from Chipotle. Surely there's no restaurant that does real Mexican food better.

Their current nutritional guide is not working on the parent site. 3rd party sites list a full Italian beef with bread at 350mg

As an aside, almost all tortillas are 600+ mg of sodium. Google lists it as 950 in general.

Mission flour burrito tortilla -

So if you're just comparing tortillas, Chipotles is nothing different than anywhere else.

As for the comparison to Portillo's ANYTHING, Portillo's themselves say they don't have nutrtitional information so the 350mg sodium is completely bunk. It has to be if they use any sort of au jus.

Is there nutritional information available?
We don't have nutritional information available at this time.

MyFitnessPal says that the Big Beef is 1800mg sodium - if the Big Beef is 1800, there's no way the smaller version is only 350.

Mexican food in general is high in sodium, as is anything not prepared from whole ingredients yourself.

As a fan of both real Mexican food and American fast food, I'm saddened by the fact that there will most likely never be a Chipotle in Mexico city.

One of my favs, and they seem to really care about the quality of their ingredients.
The corn salsa, and having the green tabasco really sell it for me.

This is strangely hilarious to me. I'm imagining you in the line yelling "JUST MAKE IT TASTE GOOD"

"But sir, what do you think tastes good? Literally all of your options are right here"
I wish I could! Really, when left to my own devices I subconsciously create the most boring burrito imaginable. I don't realize it until I sit down and eat it.
