So Chipotle is pretty damn good...

Steak and Barbacoa are the most expensive. We have like a 10% tax on prepared meals here so that adds to the price.

But they don't have a single burrito that costs under 7 after tax in Seattle, WA.

I was slightly off about the Carnitas; after tax a little over 8.. it's the steak that will get you closer to 9, but more like 8.50.

Adding guac makes it $10 after tax or more.

Geez. My chicken burrito is like $6.87 here in Texas, and Texas is known for having a high sales tax because we don't have state income tax.

That reminds me to stay here lol.

Yeah WA is the same (no income tax, just lots and lots of consumption / property taxes.)

And you pay extra for pretty much any national chain food since most of them ship their raw materials out of the center of the country. And of course you are also paying for the fact leasing a spot for your restaurant here is more expensive than average (nothing compared to NYC/SF, but I believe it's in the top 5 most expensive real estate cities)

Never heard of either. I enjoy trying new 'fast' burrito places. But so far Qdoba wasn't very good (other people must have thought the same because they have closed), when I went to Hot Head the inside of my burrito was refrigerator cold (I tweeted at them and they sent me a card for 3 free burritos that I still have sitting on my desk), and Moe's was pretty decent but their closest location to me is around 7 miles away so I haven't been back.

I guess the two you quoted are located strictly in nola?

Bullritos is Houston based
Izzos is Baton Rouge based.
the only place you can get both of these is my city Lafayette.
They are enormous burritos. The Izzos largest size is a foot long.
This isnt my picture but it shows how big the burrito is.

They have two joints in Toronto, and it's pretty damn good. So far, I've gotten chicken burrito with pinto beans and brown rice. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
If you are going to the one at Yonge and Dundas, you should also try going down Dundas to Big Fat Burrito. I like Chipotle, but BFB is better imo.

It is decent, clean food but the flavor just isn't comparable to mexican food. I'm always baffled when I see a busy Chipotle in California...I guess people like the meat because...its local?

Still, I would much rather have real mexican food. Even the worst taquerias around here are much, much better than Chipotle.

It's great, just be prepared for the shit-stained underwear later...

Shit like this is why it took me so long to try Chipotle. Not that I even watched that SP episode (or any SP really). There was just a little inkling in my subconcsious that this was bad food.

In reality I don't think I've ever gotten the shits from it and I know for certain that I've never shit my pants from it

Your first statement is what makes your second... baffling.

It's not comparable, so why are you then comparing them?

Are you baffled that people in California eat Chinese food?

There was be something seriously wrong with your bowels if you cannot digest Chipotle properly. All the ingredients are actually fairly high quality. Maybe go easy on the beans? Not sure. Considering how shit the American diet is, Chipotle is the last thing you need to be worrying about...

Pro Chipotle tips:

Always ask for extra rice, it's free.
For extra meat, ask for half portions of 2 meats, aka what I always get is Half Chicken Half Steak. It's the same price, and you will get 1/3rd spoon more.

I'm honestly struggling to understand what you're trying to say here. I didn't realize this was a heated discussion, lol.

That post wasn't heated lol.

Point is that Chipotle isn't very similar to mexican food (as you indicated as them not being very comparable).. so it's 2 different tastes.. when people are in the mood for Mexican food they eat Mexican food, and when in the mood for something like Chipotle.. they eat Chipotle.

I prefer authentic Mexican food but it tends to have much stronger flavors, so sometimes I choose a mission style burrito place because it has SOME of the same flavor profiles without the flavor overload.

Ummm, chipotle makes burritos and quesadillas. I'm pretty sure they are comfortable being compared. I said the taste wasn't comparable. I don't see anything hypocritical there. They don't make anything aside from mexican style food.

My point was you can't go a block without seeing a decent taqueria in most of California. I don't understand why people would pay more for worse food.

I still have no clue what you meant about chinese food, lol.

I didn't suggest you are a hypocrite at all..

Just gonna end this with a have a nice day lol.
