So, did Bloodborne really not win anything at Gaming Awards 2015 ?

True, but I was more focused on how it beat 2 industry juggernauts and very well received DLC for one of (if not the) best new IP launches in the past year. Twice.

It's definitely one of the best IP's made by nintendo which I congraluate them on. I want nintendo to take more risks like that because it definitely was worth it.

so it was 5 or 6 dudes right, that decided the winner , fans had nothing to do with it.
Well than that explains it.I bet most game journalists couldn't even beat bloodborne.
close the thread already.

From what I understand it usually the votes are conferred among a lot of the staff at these outlets. The person on the name is just the one submitting the list.

Does beating a game make it good?

Wait, what conspiracy theory now? :S
Some of the ones presented in this thread
-It's not mainstream enough
-Western game bias
-Journalists don't care about gameplay
-Bloodborne is too hard
-Didn't win because it's exclusive

etc. etc.

This is the game equivalent to fans saying the judges at the Oscars/Grammys did not understanding a film or album.

Though I love Bloodborne to death, it's a niche game. I can praise it high from the mountain tops, but Witcher 3 is more accessible from what I can gather.

However, I think that begs the question if accessibility should factor in these awards.

If anything, I'm salty about Tales of the Borderlands getting snubbed because that makes it less likely there'll be a S2 :(

This was the same award show that gave GotY to Dragon Age: Inquisition over Bayonetta 2, right?

I'm not too bothered then.

EDIT:

Also gave Best Action/Adventure to Shadow of Mordor over Bayonetta 2. Forgot that one.
Yep, lol. What a joke that was.

Bloodborne was never going to win, lets face it... but it's just a video game awards event so who cares really? So long as you know the game is awesome it doesn't really matter, does it?

OP, not only did Undertale not win Best Indie Game, it wasn't even nominated for Best OST. Which was taken by Metal Gear Solid. Metal. Gear. Solid. I can't even remember a single piece of original music from that apart from Quiet's Theme.

If CDPR somehow cracks the 3D action combat code that the japanese have mastered..... dear god

Ignore 80% of the rest of the OST because Sins of the Father is so good.

Deduct points because I don't like Quiet's theme unless it's sung by Donna Burke.

I highly doubt they sat people down and made them listen to a bunch of OSTs for their deliberations.

They just nominated everything that came out and was good (and Fallout 4), and asked them to pick what they remembered the best.

As I said In the other topic I expected BB to not win the GOTY award and I understand Witcher 3 winning it.

I don't understand Bloodborne not winning best art award though. There's nothing that compares this year to the care that FROM put in BB art-wise IMO. You don't see a game that start in a victorian setting and ends with a Lovecraftian nightmareish with such attention to detail.

Ori might be the prettiest game of all time, bloodborne is amazing looking, but it hat some pretty stiff competition

I have the platinum trophy for Bloodborne and I still prefer The Witcher. Your "git gud, judges" argument is cliche and flimsy as can be.

god i hate souls fans

There's souls fans, and there's souls fans.

One section is helpful and cool, the other are the worst set of game fans on the Internet.

I could only assume the judges couldn't get past Father Gascoigne and gave up

Where with ori they were like "oh look pretty colors"

I love that people want to shit on Ori just because Bloodborne didn't win.

Ori is an absolutely beautiful game and trying to take that away from it just because your preferred game didn't win is kinda bullshit.

Who has shat on Ori?

Those are not conspiracy theories...? lol

They're assumptions about why the voters didn't vote for Bloodborne and/or preferred other, more accessible games over it. Some of which are, in fact, probably true for many cases.

I really don't think anyone is suggesting collusion and conspiring... but I'll happily shut up and laugh at these posters with you if you can show me posts where people are alleging conspiracies. :P

Honestly none of us should be mad that it didnt win

Its a better series for catering to its audience and even better that it has the success that allows it to be commited to its craft with freedom

Its my GOTY thats for sure. From should've at least gotten some recognition for their work on the whole demons/dark souls and bloodborne games.

They get plenty from the media and its fans

The game awards has a LONG way to go before it should be taken seriously.... i mean damn its only the second year under its new umbrella

Oh, I agree completely. I don't understand why anyone's mad. These awards are known to be a joke anyway (Shadow of Mordor winning anything was the lol'est thing ever). I'm just baffled at the accusations of conspiracy theorizing going on, haha.

I'm the one on the right. Love Souls but recognize that other games can be just as good even if they don't stand a chance in the combat department. Witcher 3 was my GOTY, if Witcher 3 hadn't come out I would have chosen Bloodborne as my GOTY most likely.

And next year tbh, P5 has a chance to steal the thunder of Dark Souls 3 for me. I can love the titles and still love other games just as much if not more.

Jesus Christ, some of you thin-skinned people who can't deal with your precious game not winning, even though it was nominated and will continue to be recognized during award season.

Yeah, no exclusives, sure. Yeah, it's too hard, sure. Yeah, only big high-profile games, sure. That's why Her Story, an indie-ass indie game composed solely of a single actress acting in FMV on a virtual desktop for 90 minutes that can be had for less than $4 on Steam right now was one of the most well-represented in the awards.

It's like you're still 14 and think you're cooler than everyone else because the other kids were all talking about Armageddon and you like Deep Impact more. Petulant children.

Bloodborne's probably in my top 5, so don't go telling me I don't appreciate it either.

Also fuck Deep Impact.

Shadows of Mordor reminded me a lot fo FF13 where the first several hours and impressions captured the majority of players and only came under fire after further play sessions and greater scrutiny

Thats the benefit of frontloading a game with your best content and marketing out of the gate

They do. They get tons of awards for their games and now have a series that has breat sales for them. They went from a company known for hard to get into mech games to having one of the biggest fantasy titles in under half a decade. To even see a From game get nominated for GOTY and other awards would be unheard of a decade ago.

... ... ... Okay seriously no joke? Edge?

The guitarist from U2 is a foremost authority on videogames? D:

Sorry, I just can't tell if your post is serious or not.

Edge, as in one of the oldest and most relevant games magazine published today (judged solely by the amount of posts each issue is worth on Neogaf.. do a forum search).

The Game Awards, sponsored by, among many other brands, Xbox, presented at the Microsoft theater in LA.
Did you really expect a PlayStation first party exclusive to be awarded?

.

Not altogether surprising though. Bloodborne is easily my GOTY, and tbh I actually struggle to find fault with it, but at the same time I didn't think it'd necessarily be as widely praised at these sorts of big, glossy mass consumer type award events where half the judges probably have fairly casual taste and skillset. Bloodborne is a pretty grim, hardcore experience.

You didn't see the VGA thread after Ori won best art direction, the salt aka disrespect was off the charts.

Also those are basically conspiracy theories. Because they make so little sense under any kind of scrutiny when compared to the other games that won stuff. Like this shit:

Her Story is a thousand times more niche than Bloodborne, yet it won multiple awards. Most people watching the awards didn't probably even play Her Story.
