So did Chrome suddenly start to suck?

Isn't Chrome notoriously bad with GIF's anyway.

I'm a Firefox user but iv seen people complaining about Multiple GIF's per page and larger GIF's causing issues in Chrome for the past year

My favorite chrome bug right now: mouse over any of the dock items in 10.8, if the tooltip overlaps onto chrome the entire system will sometimes crash.

Because I've been living a lie the last month. I thought there was this new meme of posting stills of gifs with screen tearing in them. I saw it everywhere. I actually started to like it, because some replies with these images were actually spot on.

Turned out they were actual gifs that just wouldn't show properly in Chrome. What the fuck, Google. This happened on both my work laptop and my desktop at home.

Now I just want teared gif static images in every thread.

Yes, Chrome has been on the decline. I'm getting "waiting for cache" more and more often, page loads are slow, emptying the cache often hangs the browser for several minutes. I've tested this on 3 or 4 different computers, both Windows and Mac. Chrome's got some problems.

weird. i haven't had any of these problems besides the shockwave crash and that was a easy fix. i'm on osx if that makes a difference though.

The most annoying thing are the random flash crashes. The GIF thing I've noticed but most load so it's hard to notice.

I've been having the same issue with gifts but only on gaf, I put it down to the recent server changes gaf made rather than chrome itself as that's around the time it started for me.

Chrome for macs has some kind of memory leak. I have to force-quit it a couple times each day. It takes a couple minutes to close and when it finally does it frees up a couple gigs of RAM.

Super annoying. Thinking about switching back to Firefox.

Firefox isn't much better. My laptop was running really slowly the other day so I checked my system processes and the browser was sucking up over a gig of RAM. I was astonished.

happens to me, too

usually a frozen gif will resolve itself if I middle-click on it, for some reason.

Been having an issue uploading rides to Strava lately. Huh, maybe it was a recent update instead of the amount of rides I have on my GPS.

I have more trouble with Youtube not buffering in Chrome. Video loads fine when I try a different browser like IE. I wonder if it is Adblock messing with it? Even switched to HTML5 Youtube.

Looked online, and here is a good site to confirm that you have the problem:

The second image down should be a looping animated gif. If you look at it and it's actually animating, you can break it with 100 percent certainty by scrolling the page so the gif is not visible, then scrolling it back.

The gif will then animate again if you switch tabs and switch back, if you highlight it to select it, or (at least in my case) if you click the middle mouse button on it.

There is definitely a problem with how Chrome decides when to animate gifs.

I feel like browsers in general are getting worse with newest iterations. So many small, annoying problems, Flash not wanting to cooperate, etc.

Chrome on Android is completely unusable right now. Horrible problems with graphical errors and the on-screen keyboard randomly disappearing. Using Firefox instead.

I thought I was the only one experiencing the GIF issue. It's a pain, especially on NeoGAF. This place is like 50% GIFs.

I can't stand Chrome on Mac, it's so awkward. It's great on PC though, so I don't know what's up. Most people say they prefer Safari but imo Firefox is best on OSX

thought I was the only one constantly having shockwave crashes and GIFs not loading up, hope they fix it soon because I don't want to go back to Firefox

Oh wow, I thought it was just me. I tried to love Chrome, I really did. I reformated me PC last week and gave it a week shot and I just can't. Back to firefox, my main squeeze.

I use chrome because I'm using a shitty laptop, but it has a fuck all day when it tries to load any image, ESPECIALLY a gif. It's hilariously bad.

Chrome has been shit for a while now for me... especially with the loading of some gifs and the general browsing performance. I also don't like using Chrome on my phone/tablet because the stock browser is much faster (though Chrome on mobile still handles gifs very well).

EDIT: Gonna have to try out that beta
