So EGGS are bad for you again. Study.

Wait so they gave people supplements to equal the equivalent of 2-3 eggs worth daily?
But didn't have a group just eat 2-3 eggs daily? What if there's something else in eggs that inhibits it when eaten together?
That's like eating fructose pills and saying fruit has this and it spikes your glucose levels, without accounting for the fiber in fruit that slows absorption.

I feel like all of the people who are in the news for being Hella Old have all said they eat like 3 raw eggs every day or something.

Meat and dairy are bad for you and cancer causing in some cases. Best to quit or limit them

If chicken, fish and eggs are bad for you... I am fucked. Like, where the hell am I supposed to get my proteins. Am I gonna have to chew on almonds all day? And don't even mention tofu. Don't you do it.

Pea protein is a thing. It's healthier than animal protein as well and cheaper in some cases. Mushrooms also work and a lot of beans are good. But whatever people are just gonna say MUH STEAKS.

The OP sensationalizes a relatively good news story on a scientific study.

No 'Science' isn't saying eggs are bad for you 'again'.

This study suggests people at a high risk for heart disease should limit their intake of choline. That's it. It in no way shape or form suggests choline, let alone eggs, are bad.

I've seen many terrible tabloid headlines about scientific studies. This one is just fine. No need to pour a bunch of hyperbole on it.

Only an egg a day for the oldest Dutch person ever (115 years old), but yes, eggs seem to be a common theme.

and good genes

First it was the cholesterol, then it was the saturated fat, then it was the iron content, then it was tge heterocyclic amines, then it was the carnitine which supposedly transiently raised serum TMAO and was this cause of thrombotic events, now it's supposedly the choline, so we can go back to blaming meat and eggs again, as we did when we thought it was the cholesterol and/or saturated fat.

Good thing I eat high DHA eggs I guess. That should help neutralize the clotting potential caused by choline, right?

Yup. Like me. Worrying about what causes cancer probably caused cancer itself.

I'm just going to watch what I eat while lowering my sugar and carb intake while I go through my "get back in shape" phase. Just need to lose 20 pounds and I think I can do that by the end of the summer.

Yes. Legumes, nuts, seeds, tofu / tempeh, green vegetables are all good sources of protein. Eat them.

It's all just so disheartening than in the end nothing you eat really protects from anything. It's more about what foods kill you faster than others. And then to some people, it doesn't even do all that much damage. It's all a crap shoot.

I have more or less figured out a decent formula to not be overweight and keep blood sugar levels in check. That's about all the positives. What other damage it is doing, who knows. Probably still gonna die of a heart attack or colon cancer, or some bullshit my diet was supposed to "prevent."

I'm starting to think that the whole, "everything in moderation and live an active lifestyle" is really just the best way to live. If you are hyper reactive to these studies, you'd be having to wildly adjust your diet about once a month.

Let's see... Ridiculously small sample size? Check.

Extrapolation of unrelated research to make entirely unsubstantiated claim? Check.

Vague recommendations from the researchers based on their lack of confidence in the findings? Check.

Yep. Click-bait.

As always- Wait for a meta-analysis or a study with a much larger sample size.

Pretty sure anyone with a family history of heart disease/high blood pressure could tell you this for free.

Haven't been able to shamelessly enjoy egg yolk in years ):

Do they put the same effort studying veggies? Something worth looking into.

Seems to me these researches are biased since they focus on ruining the shit we like.

Well, yeah.

No one is going to read about whether or not beef liver will cause horrible disease... But bacon??

Bring on the headlines.

I think I'm the only person in the world who doesn't like eggs. I always avoid them.

People give me the looks whenever I say I don't like eggs, but now I'll just show the this study to prove that I'm the one who is right! :)

Both the news article and this thread's title are a bit misleading. Egg yolks are where this nutrient is most concentrated. So eating egg whites would seem to be fine, or at least better than eating eggs with the yolk.

Americans look at food in a reductionist way, in isolation, and that is truly what is wrong here. Everything, consumed in an extreme manner, is likely to have negative effects of one sort or another. That is why a diverse, well-balanced diet of whole foods will always be the best for you. One food's strengths balance out and/or mitigate the shortcomings of another food and vice versa.
