So has Nintendo fixed the goddamn DS Lite D-pad?

The Dpad is completely awesome. You're stupid.

edit: Oh god why is this topic two pages

Explain why it's awesome, because I'm pretty sure it's bad enough that I might buy another fatty to alleviate the issue if that's what it takes.

EDIT

I'm not stupid. You're stupid.

I've never felt any control or performance difference between the DSlite one and the regular DS one. I prefer the DSlite one because it feels softer and less clicky, but is just as good.

How many diagonal-dependant games have you played on it? If you're just playing Castlevania and Mario or something, it's impossible to notice. Have you played Nanostray with it?

I'm going to do a comparison test between the fat and the lite using Rocketslime, in which you can walk around with diagonals... hold on..

I remember the when I first got my DSL and booted up Animal Crossing, and I was all like WTF. But either I got used to it or it broke itself in because now diagonals work fine. And I remember the first time I played a desert level in NSMB and there was streaking everywhere and I was like WTF. But I'm used to that now too. DSL rox.

I have one of the bad ones. The OP is massively overstating the problem IMO. It's easier to do diagonals on my fatty, however I either adapted, or broke the new one in over time, it's fine now and i don't think anyone would notice the problem if they played on my DS.
I've had my DSL for a couple of months and I still have troubles with the diagnols. I don't think you can truly adjust to it.

Hey I take it back! The bottom right diagonal is definitely less responsive. Nanostray and Rocketslime were both made pre-DSlite though so I bet future games will componsate.

I've purchased 4 DSLs over the past few months (2 whites, 2 blacks) and all 4 were perfect.

Only 2 were with my money and for myself. A white (which I then gifted to my brother when I bought myself a black). I wound up buying two more for family and friend overseas, acting as their proxies. But they had me fully test out the systems for flaws before getting the systems to them.

The d-pad on the DS Phat was awesome.

The DS Lite one is OK. Takes a little time to get used to, could be a bit bigger.

The d-pad on the PSP is the friggin' worst.

Yeah, it was Rocket Slime Adventures where I really noticed it. It's not that I can't get diagonals to register, it's that I have to really mash it. Anyone know if it's a physical thing that I could crack open the system and fiddle with? I bought a JP version in HK and live in China, so sending it in for repair is sorta out of the question...
