So how do you fix Gran Turismo?

Haven't played 6, but played every gt before it.

I like racing sims with great physics and dynamic weather. But I don't need super awesome realistic graphics especially when those graphics are dull, boring, washed of color, and frankly sterile. Especially when I'm racing around with the same cars on the same tracks for the past 15 years. It's old. It's tiring. It's frankly boring. A new paint job and some better graphics aren't enough to keep me coming back.

Jazz it up by mixing real with unreal. Keep some of those iconic real cars, but throw in some fictional cars too. Surprise us with your developer's creativity. Same with tracks too. We have to have some of real staple tracks like Laguna Seca, but let's throw in a steampunk Victorian age track, or a beautiful ice castle track up in the mountains. Kart racers shouldn't have a monopoly on creativity. Taking it to an extreme, I wanna race through an elven metropolis at the base of Yggdrasil up in Asgard in my '99 Dodge Viper; and all I want to think about is corner negotiation and saving tires, not banana peel negotiation and saving my blue shell.

You can drive on the moon in GT6, what more do you want?

There is nothing really WRONG with the franchise per se. It is still very good at what it is trying to do. Which is fine.

The problem is, I have played the franchise since the PS1 era. Every time I play the new games, I always feel like i have done all of this before.

The series is suffering from franchise fatigue. They need to shake up the gameplay, somehow.

that's like playing nba 2k in the colosseum in front of an audience full of gladiators.

not gonna happen.

They can do something like a side series. A Gran Turismo: Horizon if you will. They also need to iterate faster. Spending 4-5 years on a game is a terrible idea.

PD are trying to do too many things, so only a few things get done well. Some get done only so-so. The rest don't get finished at all and end up getting patched in later. They're too small a team, and they're run by perfectionists.

With a team the size of PD, the fact that we got another GT this good and so soon is nothing short of remarkable. I honestly think they need to be less ambitious and focus on doing just a few things well. If we didn't get a bunch of half-assed extras tossed in, I don't think anyone would notice.

-AI
-Physics
-Full Modification
-Full Damage Modeling (physical/mechanical)

All things that need tweaking or don't meet the competition.

A selfish request..

You can drive on the moon in GT6, what more do you want?
As much as I love that segment, unfortunately it's just a gimmick. I can't take normal cars to the moon nor can I take the rover to any earth location. Every GT has had something like that that they love to brag about but just ends up being a cute little feature at best. Hell, they've even quantified the precise extent of its experience with a trophy.

Offer a moon-gravity mode on all the normal tracks? Moon dirt for a track surface? That! They could do stuff like that! It's in the physics engine somewhere already. That's both silly/quirky and something people would have a lot of fun with. Offer gravity as a variable as time and weather are on so many tracks. Does that kill the "it's a sim, people!" look? A bit, but no one would say it was somehow harmful and the original gameplay would still all be there.

Interior view should be standard. And a single tier car modeling detail.
Should be in absolutely all cars, yes. Surely starting their assets for cars over from scratch for the PS4, as well. New hardware, no excuses. Start with a new standard process for all cars. GT does like to have a lot of specialty/tuned/concept cars which makes that more work but they seem pretty on top of that stuff now.

I can understand cars with stock exhausts sounding dull (a lot of real life cars do) but when all the mods are done I expect NFS Shift quality sounds.

Oh and make the racingore exciting. It's felt like a chore since forever.

GET RID OF KAZ!

Seriously. He's gonna be the end of the franchise.

Agreed. Thanks for everything you have done to build the series to what it is today, but you are not changing with the times. GT6 is the same game you made in the original, just a little shinier.

Keep all in-game assets but rebuild the 'game' from the ground up.

Aside from stuff already mentioned (mainly the AI and sound) the biggest complaint I have is that the career mode hasn't really evolved much in the franchise's history. Though I didn't really like the streamlining of the career mode in Forza, it was at least an attempt to do something different. Gran Turismo's biggest change was the introduction of B-Spec, and it hasn't yet resurfaced in GT6. I wouldn't mind seeing more like that--bring in more management sim elements and get into the nitty gritty of rubbing your own racing team--but I also want to see a change in how the main career works, something less mechanical than "finish these races to win a trophy, rinse, repeat."

Better sounds, better AI and races and events that are actually fun. Maybe hire on some people just to keep Kaz from implementing stupid shit that'll just waste everyone's time.

"Lap invalidations stack? Fuck off Mr. Yamauchi."

Career mode has gone extremely stale. Not to mention the fact that GT4 had a much deeper career mode than 5/6 put together. Fix the damn chase cam PD. You had a proper one in GT3, then you just got rid of it, why? Customization is also equally boring as well. It's the same exact set up from GT3 forward. Some of the races from GT5 were fun, like the tour of Italy race, especially the Lambo race in the hills of Tuscany. Where were those races in GT6? Bring them back and expand on them. Car sounds have to be tip top PD. No more RAM excuses. I love GT. Now make me a happy camper with GT7.

In the same way FPS have evolved from arena-based 1-VS-everyone else deathmatch games to perks, persistent levelling up, XP gaining team-based something-or-others, sim racing games are in desperate need of a rethink.

Keep the Pokemon aspect of the games, sure. Allow fans to 'collect them all'. Keep the hardcore bronze/silver/gold licensing - they're a great way to challenge and compare yourself, as well as actually learn to drive.

However, I'm sick of the gated progression models, and there are atleast two of them in GT: cars/tracks, and events.

Unlike when GT4 was released when I was a bum/uni student, I don't have hours upon hours to race and unlock everything in order to experience it. I want to pay my ~AU$80 and have everything* available at the start. I want to be able to fire up Racing Game 7 and be able to choose almost any variety of car, on every configuration of track and environment and go.

At this point, I just don't see gating content behind licenses, or C>B>A>S-class events as positive gameplay. Why do I still have to race around in an entry level FWD snorefest, in boring 3 lap events on the most basic tracks, before I can hoon around in Supercar-X on better tracks for decent race lengths? It's not that I necessarily want to do those things all the time - some of the best racing I've ever been involved in was a 10 race, stock MX5s only, online series in Forza 3 held over 2 months - but having the alternative option gated sucks. GT5 still suffered from this, I'm not sure if GT6 addressed it at all.

It is that aspect that desperately needs to be looked at. Unfortunately, having spent very little time thinking about it, I don't know how to reconcile that with the apparent need to sell DLC content, or building a sense of progression into these games or keeping the games broad enough for complete newcomers. Career modes in other racing games bore me to tears as well (Shift, Grid, Dirt etc), so I don't think that is the answer. Atleast, it's not the answer I'm looking for.

But I am seriously not interested in going through the "C-class>B-class>> etc" progression treadmill ever again - I just don't have the time. Or changing the fucking oil and washing my car, for that matter.

There are plenty of technical things, too, but we're into a new a console generation so I expect they will be sorted out. I kind of agree that many of the legacy items (cars, environments, sounds) left in GT need to be trimmed, and harshly. I flipflop a little bit on this, but overall I do kind of feel that I'd prefer 400 beautifully rendered cars over 1200 cars that are a mishmash of quality. Not sure if that aligns with GT's apparent desire to be the Encarta of automotive history, though.

*
It would take too long to properly qualify that partially thought through thought, but for arguments sake let it be the basics: tracks and all of their permutations, stock versions of cars (so all types of roadgoing Skylines are available, but perhaps exclusive racing varieties, or modifications or paints are locked behind licenses or race completion?)

Otherwise, there are some cool things other games are doing that GT would benefit from. A regular daily challenge type event, like Spelunky (based on lap times, or burn out length, or two-wheel driving, or driving in reverse...), building up a homebase between events (think Rogue Legacy castle building between runs - that might be garage building, or spraypaint workshop building in a GT).

I dunno, those are the immediate thoughts that spring to mind when I think of the frustrations I've had with racing games post-PS2 era.

Engine/tire sounds need to be fixed.
No more Standard Bullshit
Cut the amount of cars. I don't need 20 of the same model of car.
Oh yeah, actual damage, especially it affecting the performance of the car.

They need to understand that as a developer it's their duty to listen to their fans and what they ask for, they can't continue to stick to the same old ideas and principles.
People said loud and clear "we don't want the standard cars because they are an eyesore, we want to see realistic collisions with both cars and guard rails, we want to see more realistic cosmetic damage, more aggressive and realistic AI, we want dynamic weather and day/night cycle in all the tracks and not just on a few lucky ones, we want new games modes which are more fun and competitive compared to the old career mode, we want more realistic sounds".
So far they have ignored all the requests and people have rightly started to ignore their game with GT6 (although to be honest the steep decline in the PS3 business since the launch of PS4 is also to blame for).
This team first of all needs to be reorganized to be more efficient (through outsourcing and other practices) and they need to spend a lot of time on the design of the new game, Yamauchi's vision for the game, that is a ''simulator of the quest for the perfect lap ignoring the rest'' is becoming disconnected with what people want.

1. An even quality bar - all components of the game get the same amount of dev time. That might mean that certain things are slightly less incredible, but seriously... how does this even need to be said?

Thoughts?
It doesn't mean that certain things are slighty less incredible, it means that a lot of content is cut out or the game is delayed until everything is acceptable (in other words, we wouldn't have GT5 nor GT6 yet).

I love it as is. But I think there are a number of popular review sites who review recent GT games like this:

Drive the wrong way and crash into first car. Did it create massive damage? If so, 9.5/10. no damage? 7/10. Herp.

I feel like Polyphony really needs to nail GT7. After some of the disappointments in GT5 and 6 and the weak GT6 sales they really need to astound players in nearly all aspects to maintain the series' credibility.

1. Cut the standards. Period. Simply can't have a massive chunk of cars modeled from two generations ago. I think most would agree that nearly 80% of the cars still regulated to standard quality could be cut. Multiple versions, Honda Life step van, etc.
The other ~20% should be completely remodeled. The '70 Charger 440 R/T, Jaguar E-Type, etc.
I thought most of the premium additions in GT6 were good, (especially the Trans Am!) so I think Polyphony is heading in the right direction concerning new additions.

2. Customization. Livery editor: numbers, vinyls, sponsor decals, etc. Wheel selection and dimensions, especially width, differentiation front and back. Roll cages, racing seats, logical engine swaps, etc.

3. Damage modeling. As someone above said, it doesn't need to be like Burnout, but something more serious than what we've seen thus far. I thought Grid handled damage very well, I would be extremely pleased to see that level of damage in GT7.

4. AI. I thought GT6 improved on this, but it was still mostly - start at the back and pass the straight line of cars.

5. Career mode. GT6's career mode was much better than GT5's in my opinion. GT5 rendered licenses practically useless with its experience points, but GT6 implemented them to good effect, as an entry into the next tier of races. And I loved the Goodwood events. But most of the races were just circuit races and I only remember one series of dirt and one of snow racing, with drift regulated to coffee breaks. Personally I'd like to see a drastic shuffle in career mode.

Possibly divided into segments of Asia/North America/Europe. You choose where you begin and you must stick with it for a while, until you reach a license test which would allow you to compete in other regions. Certain events would be unique to different regions. For example,
Asia would have drifting, togue, classic Japanese cars, and in later stages Super GT. All on tracks in Asia.
North America may have autocross, drag racing, time attack, classic muscle car races, etc. on U.S. tracks.
Europe would have touring cars, rally, and classic European races on European tracks.
Eventually you complete your IA or Super license and participate in Global races, spawning tracks across all three regions. 24 Hours of LeMans, 24 Hours of Daytona, etc.

My thoughts. Will buy GT7 regardless!

Haven't played one since PS2, which I put hundreds of hours into. Did they ever fix the audio? As fickle as this may sound, that's a big part of why I didn't keep up with it over the years.

Agreed. Thanks for everything you have done to build the series to what it is today, but you are not changing with the times. GT6 is the same game you made in the original, just a little shinier.

http://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/its-now-march-where-is-our-promised-community-update.303455/

PD's and moreso Kaz's arrogance is gonna lead to the alienation of GT. They refuse to innovate and they've gotten away with it because the lack of competition in the genre damn near ensures the massive sales they enjoy. Hopefully that changes this gen.

GT is a mess, the franchise lacks identity. Am I a racing sim? a car museum? a driving sim? a space simulator? what the fuck am I? A jack of all trades, master of none. Kaz's vision is as good as Al Pacino's in Scent of a Woman.

From what I've heard from this company is that they are a bit too "closed" off. They don't do outsourcing and to make a simulator of his standard is 1/3 of the manpower from T10. I understand the hardwork and dedication but they're pushing themselves unnecessarily by not expanding their workforce and thus the result is either long dev-times or unpolished products.

Every generation increases it's graphical capabilities and to develop as if it were a PS2 game shows how far behind in game development they are. It's about time they make some sacrifices, or build something else like Omega Boost 2 or Motortoon to flex their creative muscles because GT is beginning to look stale from time to time.

Gran Turismo feels like an old series spread very, very thin. In fact, it is!! (IMO). The game really needs new life put into it. The driving physics are the best on consoles, but the damage modeling and the sound design need quite a bit of work.

I also would like to see mechanical damage. Even though one good smack into a wall would render the car impossible to drive, it would be interesting to see, if it was done correctly. However, doing so would be quite the undertaking.

On the whole, Gran Turismo feels like a series trapped in it's own bubble, unable to break free of old habits. Maybe that's due in part to the creator of Gran Turismo, Kaz. Kaz needs to let go a little and allow some experimentation, but that's just as hard as persuading a chain smoker to quit smoking altogether.

The first thing that must be done is that the current single player experience must be COMPLETELY overhauled. GT's career has barely changed since GT1. In my opinion there are a couple ways to change this.

(almost)* Always online single player mode. Yes. That is right.

It starts with 3 very important things, event objective variety, better AI and a fully developed track generator with GPS track generation.

The track generator based on GPS is by the most important opportunity for GT7. In my opinion this is the single most innovative thing Kaz and team have proposed. I envision that GT7 career mode is constantly changing. In a way, the seasonal events, become the bread and butter of the campaign, not the static events. Obviously, there needs to be some normal events in the beginning. The tracks for majority of events would be created by the GPS coordinate tracking app Kaz proposed a while back. This would enable people to go into the real world and replicate the general layout of real life roads. Once the road route is determined, you would have a choice of scenes to populated the track with. If we are lucky, we will be able to fine to aspects of the surroundings. PD would take all the tracks and then give them various objectives and race settings to make each event unique.

Which brings us to objective variety. No longer would GT be bounded by the standard "Do 5 laps, get to first" structure. Users would be able to submit the track from their GPS and be able to customize every possible specific race variable. Cars, PP, tires, weather/TOD, starting position, opponents, start type, laps/time/# of passes, drift/score/distance/speed, beat my ghost, etc. Users would then upload these tracks and event settings to the game. Events chosen by PD and popular within the GT community would rise to the top and offer the biggest pay offs. That being said, users would be able to search through the entire roster of events created by the community. It is important to note, PD/real world tracks, would also be included. These types of events would be mixed in with events PD creates to create the overall career structure. PD events would have the highest payout. But as event creators become more recognized within the community their ability to offer higher payouts increases (to a limit and not as much as PD events). I assume PD would give you a suggest career path to take, but if you wanted to you could go off on your own.

Of course NONE of this matters in single player if there isn't a good AI system to match. In this respect PD has to put out. I can offer little in this area. They need to take all that time they spend outside of their game studio, take the data on how real race car drivers drive and engineer it back into GT so the game is enjoyable. At the very least there needs to be a difficulty slider for the AI in GT. There is no way to make the AI fun for everyone. GT's customers range from the curious video game buyer to the person who spends $1000+ on a sim racing set up. The lowest setting would be close to what we have now (in terms of aggression and overall pace... PP differences not withstanding). The highest if not genuinely smart and fast would at least artificially compensate for this by adding tire grip and power to increase overall pace (GT5P).

Put these 3 things together with better sounds, 3D trees (yes they are important), better collision/air/damage/gravity physics, a better tire model, a higher cars on track count (32 would be nice), an already decent MP experience, revamped track models, no standards, no BS moon missions, 1080p 60fps locked, and if we are lucky a bucket of money for EA and Porsche and we have ourselves redemption.

GT6 so far has been the worst performing title in the series. Not just from a sales or even reviews, perspective, but from an overall community engagement perspective. Sometimes the outcries from GTPlanet are quite pathetic, but I think I would be remiss if I did not sense that overall love for the series is a very low point. The online is not as vibrant and overall interest is being consumed by quality competitive offerings. I have a very hard time believing the casual GT player is happy either. GT7 is a huge game for PD and Sony. It is time for them to prove that they are not bound by their past and all the success it has produced but that they are ready to take the series in a fresh new direction.

To make Gran Turismo perfect, it would need:

Better sounds.
Better camera angles. I like close chase cameras, like PGR2, for example.
All premium cars.
The amount of cars is great, but tone down the number of Skylines, Miatas, add some more recent cars that would fit the style of the game.
More tracks.
More exciting driving mechanics. 80% GT, 20% Forza

I'm being pretty critical, I enjoy GT as it is. But if they implemented even half of those features? Goodness me. I'd shit myself.

-The car list is downright criminal with how many omissions are in there. Im sorry Kaz but there is too much junk in the game that nobody wants to use.

-good god the audio! Please use recordings that sound like they were taken with something a bit more hi-fi than a friggin talkman.

I 100% agree.
No P1, Laferrari, where is Porsche? and Koenigsegg?, what about concepts like the Sesto Element or 1 offs like the Veneo, ect ect I could go on and on.

Many of these cars I can drive in other games, but not GT6. It's like they are missing that entire market and the culture that comes along with it.

They wont go with full damage modeling

Car manufacturers doesnt want that

Fix?

It could use a better UI, better online functionality and certainly better sounds but it's still the best racing game out there for the most part. Only Forza really competes with it and Forza has gone to shit.

I dunno I guess maybe they could let you paint animes on your car or some shit?

Well porsche at least is locked into some stupid ass licensing deal with EA so that's not really their fault...

I hope they just keep doing their thing, you people are going to leave me with just iRacing, and setting up my wheel by my computer is a whole lot more trouble than in front of my TV

I'd be happy with just updated sounds and a working clutch.

I agree with everyone that the series only needs one kind of car model that is very detailed and has a good damage model. Seriously just stop with the idea that you need a thousand cars. We really don't need 15 different Lancer Evolutions, just give me one done right.

Also they need to take a long hard look at how their career works. It's totally outdated.

I would also appreciate it if the series would stop being so sterile.

And get rid of the Jazz. I fucking hate Jazz.

Pretty much this. I could see maybe 2 or 3 versions of some cars but anymore then that and it starts to become filler.

I do like the music tho... ;)

The first thing to do, something PD should have done about 5 years ago, is hire a bilingual community manager so that threads like this and all the others on other forums are not a complete waste of time. I remember posting criticisms on the Playstation GT board before GT5 came out and everyone there saying trust Kaz, everything will be OK. Not once did anyone from PD or Sony respond to anyone's concerns.

For me GT5 was a huge disappointment.

I know Kaz and translator guy eventually started responding on twitter after GT5 came out and got a mountain of complaints but their lack of a community manager to interact and acknowledge feedback, their continuing insularity, is what is really holding the game back.

2. Driving + racing simulator. I love GT's focus on driving mechanics above all else. It feels like no other game, and no other game even approaches it's physics model.
lol

It has lots of room for improvement there if they so wished to go down that route. Personally, I feel its pretty close to where it should be. Any more hardcore and you start to diminish some of the mass appeal of the game. There's certainly tweaks they can make to make things feel more natural at the limits without making the game easier or more difficult, though. GT's overall physics core is very good, but it does break down in places quite noticeably.

I think GT has more important fish to fry, though:

- Needs to be more challenging in single-player. GT5 was ok, but GT6 is way too easy.

- Needs more car customization. Forza still has it beat here and its hard to describe just how fantastic it is to be able to personalize cars in your garage to that degree. Makes 'ownership' of the cars feel a lot more personal and satisfying.

- Better sounds. Obviously a huge issue.

- Better performance rating system. PP system in GT does not do a great job. This is useful stuff for online racers.

- More consistency in assets.

- A far better damage system.

Many debates right now on GTplanet about how GT6 is underdelivering.

My opinion: Kaz must leave. he has no idea where to take his series (10 years without any brand new creative idea) and his priorities are all over the place (ugly framerate -even worse that GT5!-, constellation simulator, moon missions, car list out of date, laughable sounds, archaic online -put to shame by Autolog, incomplete game,..., etc...)

I love GT's focus on driving mechanics above all else. It feels like no other game, and no other game even approaches it's physics model.

Thoughts?

This is at almost at absurdity levels of hyperbole.

Up to GT3, maybe 4, GT was still king, but other have caught up, in physics, graphics, ect, (audio!) and GT has more or less stayed with the same formula. It's a sturdy and tested formula but, nothing changes, or the changes are too small. It's fallen behind in the strength of it's cultural impact as well if recent sales figures are anything to go by.

@Solal

One of the reasons I traded GT6 back in was because I primarily use cockpit mode in simulation racers and it was terrible. The frame rate drops in GT6 are almost constant and 100% takes away from the experience of driving. It' sad when GT5, the prior game, runs noticeably better.

Fired up GT6 again after taking a break since it's launch... and it remains an absolutely brilliant game, better the GT5 in almost every way. The fact remains though, this series needs to take a good long look at it's last two (three really) entries and figure out where it's going

Here are my main suggestions:

1. An even quality bar - the fact that there exists a developer who'd allow there to be two tiers of cars in their driving game still kind of staggers me, but the fact that they'd do it with tracks staggers me even more. No two ways about it: I don't drive standards, because I want a cockpit view (Polyphony's solution to that is even more embarassing.) What's more, the presence of a godly looking track like Spa Francorchamps in the same game as what's become of Trial Mountain is just sad. Polyphony needs to just set it out at the beginning for the next entry: all components of the game get the same amount of dev time. That might mean that certain things are slightly less incredible, but seriously... how does this even need to be said?

2. Driving + racing simulator. I love GT's focus on driving mechanics above all else. It feels like no other game, and no other game even approaches it's physics model. But I think we need to start making it feel like a racing game as well - given that's almost exclusively what you do in it, as opposed to a "driving around opponents" game. The AI should feel like a fight, not an obstacle. This has been an ongoing joke with the series, but it's not really funny anymore.

3. ... Kaz?
Sad as it is to say, despite the fact that Kaz has created what is likely the most incredible driving series ever... he probably needs to either slide over and let some other hands do some work or leave altogether. The intro to the last two games are a perfect illustration of who Kaz is - a bit of a madman, a lot of savante. He's a genius, but he has a bit of Kutaragi destructiveness in him. I'm not saying the series should become Westernized, or that he should even hand over the reigns - but the team could certainly benefit from some new thinking.

I love celebrating this series, but I think a clear message was sent to Polyphony with the GT6 sales data, and it wasn't just cuz a new generation had come (there's still a ungodly amount of PS3s out there, and not that many PS4s by comparison): people were alienated by the increasing eccentricities of the series, and some shit's gotta change.

Thoughts?

1: more cars is better so I disagree here.
Also wahts wrong with Trial mountain? seriously, the track is ok.

2: try arcade mode with AI set to 10.
AI in carreer is the result of gamers bitching about games beeing to hard.

3: maybe, maybe not. I dont think ist Kaz alone. Ist the entire culture at PD that is so totally different. Someone should tell them ist 2014 and People have invented things like the Internet where you can communicate and interact with the People that love your product. Ist not the bugs in the game nor the Features missing grom it that drives me nuts, ist the complete radiosilence PD is in since the dawn of time. TALK TO YOUR PEOPLE!!

what the game needs is more consistence in everythging.
1200 cars but you cant get a full grid of gt3 cars?
every racing nut is in awe for These le mans gt3 cars like the ferrari. Where is it it GT?
GT Needs Prosche. Porsche beeing a Major Player in GT class racing troughout the years now also doing LMP1. GT Needs Porsche!
But what it first and formost Needs is the Patch with the promised Features still missing.
And a PS4 Iteration.

Pretty much this. I could see maybe 2 or 3 versions of some cars but anymore then that and it starts to become filler.

I do like the music tho... ;)

I was only half serious about the music. :P

I have said for years that they have their priorities wrong. Make a great racing game and cut the bullshit. Moon mission stuff is not needed, hell I would cut B-Spec. Focus in what's really necessary and that is a good amount of detailed cars including physics (Forza's amount is totally fine), a great career mode and online that's up to modern standards. Once you are there you can add you bullshit in a sequel. Problem is they never got the first part done.

1: more cars is better so I disagree here.

I wanna know what more cars makes better. It was a fun novelty back in the day but standards have changed. What's the point of all those cars if I don't want to drive 90% of them and most if them look like crap?

The need to focus more on the proper racing, there is nothing wrong with working your way up to the sports/racing cars but i just never found GT fun after GT2, i much prefer Forza.

GT needs too be more like Forza in the damage effects for a start, the engine sounds need to be vastly improved & there needs to be less of the 'normal cars' do we really need twenty versions of a Nissan Skyline or Honda NSX ?

I know it's sounds like i'm saying GT should be a clone of Forza but i'm not, i just found Forza more fun as i did Forza Horizion, i have a PS4 now so i will have to wait & see what develops in the GT scene for me, i don't think much of GT6 though to be honest, so it maybe Project CARS & DriveClub for me.

well you dont want to drive 90% of the cars, neither do I. But others do.
Just look arround in GTP Car request threads. You could add another 2000 cars and there would still be People complaining that car x is not in the game.
One could argue that theres no Need for 40 different miata models or Skylines, but even for every single one of those you find People who appreciate them. MAybe ist the very same model they have or had once.

Also I find the diversity really cool.
Even after a Long time with GT5 and 6 there are still moments where I think "heck, what car is this guy driving, Ive never seen this car". And thats cool.
Most of the Standard cars look good enough in GT6. Its a Problem for People complaining about Cockpit, I admit that, but your not forced to drive those cars. For others, that dont care for Cockpits they are there though.
I have alot of Standard cars that i would really miss if they would be taken out just because they are not premium.
And making 800 cars Premium is a bright Task that I fear will not be fullfilled.

They Need to please as much People as they can.
I for one dont have the slightest interesst in car customization or damage model or Setup of cars and would love it if they would scratch that and insted invest this time and Money in other things, but I can see that there is a large enough Group of People that wants it. And so be it.
