So I bought a Roomba Today

These have a tendency to manage to close doors behind themselves (even when it seems improbable) and drain their battery moving while in this room. Sometimes they will try to use force to escape (kind of like knocking on a door).

Love the Roomba. Had to sell one when moving to another country, and bought a new one as soon as I found an apartment.

For best results run it regularly (preferably daily).

I really want one to combat the dog/cat hair on our laminate flooring. We sweep at least once a day and it still seems out of control at times.

I'm terrified of what would happen should one of the animals go poop/pee/throw-up in the house while we're at work, as they do from time to time. The idea of coming home to our floors painted in dog shit is enough to scare me away for now.

I'm really in the market for one of these, I'm leaning towards a Neato due to the reviews saying it beats the Roomba, and the top end model is only like 450 bucks. Couple that with the ever-present Bed Bath & Beyond 20% Off coupons that always seem to be around the mail stack in our house means this thing would be about 360 bucks.

Problem is we have kind of a large house, like 3000 square foot, all hardwood, but a sunken living room. Can you run these things in different areas or does it have a memory that it keeps of the one area it cleans? I have no idea how well it would do in this size of an area, we don't have pets but a toddler so there's crumbs often that need to be swept up.

Seems like it would help a ton if you have dogs

If your dogs don't shit in the same room
