Always butter the bread first whatever the sandwich.

I usually don't put butter on it, only when it's a toast.

We're way beyond that. Funny how this went from Americans not using electric kettles to not buttering their sandwiches.i have a kettle too
No. That would be gross and I love butter.
How do you prevent soggy bread syndrome without a barrier.
Well European countries are much slimmer, so....Butter on sandwiches? I thought we were the fat ones, haha.

Eww margarine is gross.Very few people actually use real butter for sandwiches, usually a vegetable oil or olive oil spread. Sometimes buttermilk ones too.
Real butter is for toasted things.

Well it's kind of hard to spread actual butter on non toasted bread.
Don't put it in the fridge.Well it's kind of hard to spread actual butter on non toasted bread.
You don't actually need to keep butter in the fridge ditto eggs.
Don't put it in the fridge.
And margarine is good. Healthier and all that.

Don't fill it up more than you need, man. Huge waste of energy otherwise.
Yeah, unless you superheat the water and it explodes in your face.
Well European countries are much slimmer, so....
It also shows how wrong our fat phobia was. It's about calories and portion in the end.
Warm the knife or whatever you're going to use to spread the butter.Even butter from the cupboard can be too hard for bread.
Really? Haven't heard anything about it.The FDA doesn't think so, they're trying to get rid of it. Trans fat is the new saturated fat.

We (well many of us) use those too, but they're these...
That'll make the knife go through easier, doesn't stop this when you go to spread it

I'm going to imagine our spreads are different than yours. What's your typical marg spread?
American eggs do!
Lol, I've had that happen when we bought I can't believe it's not butter instead of Flora.
I renamed it "I can't believe it's not spreadable"
Buy warburtons bread instead, ain't nothing ripping through that
Hate to break it to you, but they don't butter their bread either.
Those Americans are funny people
Or that ghastly long life stuff, I ended up tiling the bathroom with the loaf.
My nan buys that, its disgusting. Coupled with Utterly Butterly it's the worst.
I bought an electric kettle because of this thread. Thank you Dali.
The EU experience is better than the US Experience.
120V vs 240V.
Long life utterly butterly butties?
Stop visiting her.
She's dead to me.
Americans don't eat crumpets. I even had to just look up what it was, though I've heard the term on British shows before.
Oh yeah, I forgot they wash the protective layer off the shell or something for some reason.
Do Brits really call sandwiches buttys or was that just a joke making fun of them?
