_Frank_ said:i know i can zoom but i lose part of the image.
seriously movies should be shoot in 16:9 so 90% of people could play it full screen.

So you do partly understand._Frank_ said:if i make it wide, i will lose part of the image, no?
_Frank_ said:im just saying there should be a standard ratio for TV, games, movies at theatre, movies on dvd/bluray so those fucking black bars dont show their color. That would be logical, no? dont say to me it's always been like that, that's not a reason.
im sorry i cant.dagZ said:come on frank, THAT PICTURE!
Solo said:You are pretty much shitting on artistic/creative intergrity when you force one ratio on all filmmakers.

Full Recovery said:Rambo has some of the best PQ out of the movies I own.
_Frank_ said:another problem: I rented (see? improvement there) the other boleyn girl too and its not showing on the ps3 menu. I took it back to the videoclub, the girl gave me another one and its still not working.
is the ps3 blocking it for some reason or the 2 bluray were broken?
DanielPlainview said:joke thread confirmed.
standard edition...why?Full Recovery said:Which rambo did you rent?
DanielPlainview said:You rented the HD-DVD.
um, is it saying BDMV instead of The Other Boleyn Girl? That's okay.. some movies don't show the name in the menu._Frank_ said:another problem: I rented (see? improvement there) the other boleyn girl too and its not showing on the ps3 menu. Dude, you didn't hear that the Blu-ray drive on the PS3 dies after you watch 5 movies? It's actually only a DEMO of a Blu-ray player._Frank_ said:that's my thread it is normal i post a lot in it. Stop analysing my account theres nothing to find about me. Im on this board for a few gaming infos and to ask questions like those in this thread on different subjects i know you guys have the answers 99% of the time.
i took the other boleyn girl to the videoclub and i exchanged it for a DVD movie this time. The guy told me that watching movies on my ps3 could broke the reading eye...He's bullshitting me, right?
_Frank_ said:wow that DVD was prettier than rambo on Bluray and at least it was in 16:9
-Rogue5- said:Awesome, just awesome. I'm glad you meant "rent" because the new Rambo movie is nothing to rant about. Just pure awesome.
On topic; As people have mentioned, the movie uses a 2.35:1 aspect ratio, so even on a 16:9 screen you still get black bars on the top and bottom. You can use your TV's zoom/stretch function to get rid of the bars, but you'll lprobably be slightly cropping the left and right sides. In either case, it's no biggy.
I was in Quebec City a couple of weeks ago... it f*cking rocked.
_Frank_ said:what did you do there?
-Rogue5- said:I was there for a conference at the convention centre downtown across from the Hilton. I went out to a bunch of places near there, too (I don't remember the names of the places... Degobar, Ozone, a few others... it's hard to remember). Either way, it was a four day bender, and I loved the city for it. I found it to be a much better atmosphere than Toronto, too.

Movies in theatres are shown in 1.85:1 and 2.39:1 formats (from Wikipedia, didn't know it by heart). Your TV, 16:9 is 1.78:1.
I had to explain that to many customers when I used to set up Home Theatres. Speaking of which, I used to do that when I was with GeekSquad 4 years ago to get extra revenue (people don't want to pay $200 to have their PC setup, but will pay $200 to have their HT setup), and I got in trouble with Best Buy for many reasons for doing so. They tried to make me stop, and after a while I had to give in (because some reasons were good, ie. insurance).
I recently open up a BB flyer and what do I see...GeekSquad now doing HT setups! I'm a fucking pioneer! But y'all knew that anyway...I'm fucking FightyF.
_Frank_ said:yeah i know now. But that's still annoying. Seriously, who really cares about having a little larger image? Wouldn't you prefer having your screen filled?
thesoapster said:Not if you end up cropping out other parts of the film that are supposed to be there...
Frank, these movies are filmed FOR theatres NOT your TV. When directors are creating their film they are primarily concerned with what the viewers will see IN THE THEATRE. Using a wider image than 16:9 looks awesome in a movie theatre._Frank_ said:yeah i know. Im saying i doubt people would complain if movies were all filmed in 16:9. That way it would fill your screen and you would not lose part of the image
