So I'm getting a PSP... (couple of questions inside)

Nah, I just went and looked through a bunch of $30 and $40 PSP games. Might as well stick to the $50 ones.

When is it never personal opinion? Seriously, you that foolish?
Hey look, more trolling.

DURP DEE DER!
Not everyone is going to enjoy the PSP, even if they think they will. A big monetary investment like this is worth thinking hard about, especially if you're taking it as a replacement to something else that you wanted. (As is the case with the original poster.)

Actually, calling him a troll rather than focusing on the topic of the thread is what started this squabble. Why don't you just focus on your posts and let him focus on his?

1) giga pack or value pack? Giga

2) what game should I buy? Lumines and GTA (which you have done I see; well done)

3) dead pixel issue... how bad is it? I had one and it NEVER bothered me

btw NO DS vs PSP war bullshit here. Why separate the two? Buy both if you can!

Which has nothing to do with your previous posts up to this point.
So now you're going to try and hide behind a completely different arguement?
An arguement, by the way, that I already made.
If you really want an Xbox360, don't buy a PSP.

The top games from 3rd party developers are mostly $50. Are you disputing this?

Besides, when did I say this was a problem? You jumped on me assuming I had a problem with this.

I had a problem with you making a statement that is false.

Virtua Tennis - 29.99
Tokobot - 29.99
Midway Extended Play - 29.99
Legend of Heroes - 39.99
Dynasty Warriors - 29.99
Death Jr. - 39.99
Smackdown vs. Raw - 39.99

Crash Tag Team Racing - 39.99
GTMobile (listed) - 39.99
Gripshift - 29.99
Midnight club 3 - 39.99
Ridge Racers - 39.99

Wipeout Pure - 39.99
Frantix - 29.99

Stacked - 29.99
Smart Bomb - 29.99
Pinball Hall of Fame - 29.99
World Championship poker - 29.99
World Series of Poker - 39.99

In fact adding them up the few that are listed at 50 bucks are just about all EA games. A few others like GTA or Xmen Legends 2 that are 50 bucks are so because they are full games like their console brethern and worth it. If you want to make a general blanket statement of pricing you would be more correct to say 40 buck average on games.

I was out at a Media Play yesterday, found the UMD movie rack to be huge, and there were only 5 PSP games sitting on another shelf. Granted their going out of business and losing stock, but seriously, I had no idea how many UMD movies had been released.
But seriously, this game drought it getting sadder and sadder for this thing.

What game drought?

There were 4 games released this week:

WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2006
Midway Arcade Treasures: Extended Play
Ultimate Block Party
Armored Core: Formula Front

There were 6 games released last week:

Tokobot
Pinball Hall of Fame
Pac-Man World 3
The Sims 2
Prince of Persia: Revelations
World Championship Poker 2

Come on, folks, the old "PSP has no games" argument is seriously getting stale. It's got around 70 games out now in the US.

Great list. When I said top games, I meant top sellers, which are $50 according to NPD. Look, I don't care about how many games are less than $50. All I was stating is that PSP buyers have to consider the costs of all the extras as well as games and $50 for any poratble game is a lot of money for some. I was trying to help, just as you have for making that fine list of great PSP games for less than $50.

I dunno, in the last couple of months I bought GTA: LCS, Prince of Persia, Pro Evo, Puyo Puyo 2, Monster Hunter Portable, Exit and Irregular Hunter X. That's not what I'd call a drought - different strokes, I guess.

There are no games that are desirable to me for this system past the 5 I have, and yes kids, this could be you too!

Okay, I was wrong. I'd get these:
Tokobot - 29.99
Kingdom of Paradise - 39.99

And aside from Tokobot, none of those are worth a dime. Just cause you've got volume doesn't mean you've got substance.

But you didn't say that at first, that was not your original statement till I called you on it. This is what you said...

$50 games. Are you prepared to pay that for a portable system?

You said it as an absolute with no balance and it would be very misleading and negative to someone just browsing the thread who may not know actual pricing on PSP games. GTA is a top seller right now because of what it is, but it is worth the 50 because of it's pedigree. EA on the other hand puts out shit (besides Burnout Legends) and sells it at 50 and they do not deserve support. There are more then plenty great games at 40 and under prices that are to be picked up. Socom, Tokobot, Midway Extended Play, Ridge Racers, Virtua Tennis, Legend of Heroes, etc etc.

Well, lucky thing the rest of the world doesn't share your taste or opinion in games then.

I already focused on the topic of the thread. I gave my inputs and the OP already bought his PSP.

Well, you can define reading comprehension your way, and I will define it my way. I did not imply anything. You assumed a lot. And if a person browses GAF and listens to what one person says and takes it to heart, that person is a moron.

There is nothing you could even give me for the PSP right now that I wouldn't just sell off. For my tastes, the PSP is dead in the water. It's a great little thing to mess around with tech-wise, and there are a few imports, but the thing it does best (games) it's just still very weak title wise.

then this:

What next? You gonna exclaim that he should run out and buy a PSP today with 20 games?
What's your opinion again?

Oh, I'm not asking anyone to have my tastes or opinions. I just want something to play on my PSP.

Inconsistent and confusing, I do believe.

I see nothing contrary instead that one, I already own a few PSP games and they were all $50 purchases and then two, I realized I made a mistake and would buy 2 of those games, and manned up to my error.

couple of questions

1) giga pack or value pack?

2) what game should I buy?

3) dead pixel issue... how bad is it?

4) PSP region free? I can play imported games?

btw NO DS vs PSP war bullshit here.

1) If you're going to use your PSP strictly for PSP games only, value pack might be your best fit. But I'd say, giga pack makes the most sense...because even though you only play PSP games on your PSP, with a giga pack you can play them with decreased load times at least (with the correct firmware, I guess). I use my 512 mb mem stick to watch TV series etc whenever I feel like it, it's one of the best features with PSP IMO.
Also, you get a 1 gb mem stick at a reduced price. And well, if you don't want it you could just sell it and earn some bucks along the road (unless the mem stick prices have gone down substantially because of giga pack).

2) Lumines, Hot Shots Golf, Wipeout Pure. Ridge Racer is cool too. Burnout Legends if you like Burnout. Untold Legends is cool if you dig that kind of game. Although I would personally wait for the sequel, seems like it will be very improved.

3) Well, going by anecdotal evidence (what else?)... I know about 6 people who have bought a PSP, and only one of them got a PSP with dead pixels. My screen was perfect as well.

Value pack. the only reason to HAVE a gig card is for homebrew, and the PSP you get with the giga pack doesn't let you PLAY homebrew, so it's kind of a catch-22.

Not true.

1) 1GB card is also useful for movies and music, if you want to use those functions.

2) PSPs were at least recently shipping with firmware 1.52, which can be upgrade to 2.0, which plays homebrew. I know becuase I cam doing it. You can also downgrade from 2.0 to 1.5, which also plays homebrew.

Granted, some games are requiring 2.5 now, so if you want the very very recent games, you may need to upgrade to 2.5 anyway.

what the fuck happened here? :lol

and to me GTA LCS is worth the 50 dollars I paid for, I mean Jesus... :o what a game.

My Giga Pack just came in! I had to order it from Game Express since no one had the damn thing around my area. Too bad I have no games for it though...

Babies and brats. They're everywhere.

Congrats on your decision. Did you make the purchase? PSP has forever changed the way I work and play.

yeah I bought it, fucking amazing piece of hardware Sony really outdid themselves with the PSP. GTA LCS is brilliant.
