You are on way too many fucken meds OP.

Don't add marijuana to the mix.

I was on escilatopram 10mg every day and it actually mixed quite nicely with pot but you're on some like next level shit

At what point does an unstable mind become stable again after being on all those drugs?

I've done some prescription drugs recreationally and the next day I would feel different thoughts, and while on the drugs I would feel different thoughts as well.
Shouldn't someone who is prescribed many pills not be on all those for that long?

Also, completely unrelated, but what college class can I take to learn more about the brain? Somebody here replied to me and mentioned blocking receptors and stuff, and I think things like that are amazing. All those chemical reactions really interest me. Is there like a basic course on all that type of stuff?

The brain is the most complex and complicated organ in our bodies, so it is still poorly understood. Medication can try to promote a cellular environment that better facilitates normal, healthy brain function, but they are not perfect and should be used along with tools like CBT and other therapy. I don't think there's such a thing as "becoming stable again".

As for treatments and duration of regiments, that would be at the discretion of the doctor.

There is no evidence that you can really (or rather, always) cure mental illness in such a fashion, but mitigate negative symptoms and work towards healthy coping/behavioral/etc. mechanisms with time. Mental illness could be caused by a structural abnormality, hormonal abnormality, other genetic factors, etc. and a combination of things, so...I honestly don't know. Depending on what's causing it and how things change over time would be factors into whether you can say that it was ever "cured" or not. It's just really too complicated. We don't have a surefire way to cure mental illnesses.

As for the latter part, it would help to take classes in an intro biology series (or maybe audit them). The basics of how cells work and later, understanding basic physiology (specifically neurons) would be a good foundation.

The pills are presumeably prescribed by a doctor who is more familiar both with Spartan and the meds themselves. I understand the idea that many pills are bad, and they may be founded fears, but unless you are intimately knowledgeable about someones medication and mental history you can't really suggest pot as a suitable alternative.

My man!
I'm interested in this though, how dangerous is weed for someone with family members that have paranoid schyzophrenia or something like that, even if they don't have it themselves?

The high was cool. It's already over, and I had zero problems.
You guys need to chill out IMO.

Also Schizoid is not schizophrenic. wtf?

a) The introductory Psychology Course (the base for any other courses)
b) the introductory Psychopathology course (mental disorders and medication) and the introductory Neuropsychology course (anatomy of the brain and functions).

I smoke about once a year and had a pretty bad reaction to some weed a couple of months ago. Normally I just feel relaxed, but the stuff I smoked last time was really strong and ended up giving me an enormous anxiety attack. It was a pretty bad experience.

when did this become the im a doctor and trust me meds are evil thread

Doesn't seem like anyone is really pushing that perspective, most of us just know that if you're on as much meds as OP is, its probably not a good idea to smoke marijuana.

People seriously downplay the psychoactive effects of Marijuana.

I get paranoid myself. You could take a very small hit to see how it goes. Think dosage. Or make a spliff with a cigarette filter for it to filter out most of the thc. Either usually gives me a mellow buzz for an hour that doesn't make me freak out.

I actually talked to my doctor when I was on prozac and valium. He wasn't worried about cross effects of the medication and was glad weed was helping me lose weight. I can't speak for all the medication you take tho.

Said mellow buzz actually worked better than the prozac and valium combo at peak.

Well I don't smoke pot since 2011 but got some. Will I freak out?

I have this and take those meds:

Diagnosis: PTSD, Depression, Schizoid PD, OCD and Anxiety.
Meds: Aristab 10mg AM, Luvox 100mg AM, Glifage XR 500mg AM, Clonazepam 0,25mg (2x), Akineton 4mg AM, 2mg PM, Atenolol 25mg (2x), Losartan 50mg (2x).

Any songs to hear while high? Stoner/Doom Metal songs.

the amount of other shit you take freaks me out way worse than a bit of weed. You also appear to be the EXACT person that should not smoke weed. If you get a paranoid buzz from it....

disregard my post and just keep doing it then.

Be prepared for a panic attack

I smoked pretty heavily when i was 16-19 yrs old, i then gave it up for 4 years and tried it again back in June.
It didn't take long to get back to my old habits of waking and baking and being irritable when i didn't have weed.
Anyway i had quite a few bad panic attacks when i first toked again, felt like my heart was going 150+ bpm, scary shit!
I had some good times on it (music is incredible) once i get used to it again, however it's not for me anymore and to expensive.
Not to mention I'm trying to live healthier.

I've smoked weed for months while on antidepressants and seroquel, never really had an anxiety attack, paranoia etc. But you're taking a lot of other shit so I don't know if you should, maybe do it with a good friend if you're really determined.

Edit: Oh you already did, oh well.

No. Only ever smoke when you're feeling comfortable, in an environment you're happy with, and listen to good, mellow music. No heavy metal or shit like that.

If you've been diagnosed with mental health issues, let alone take medication for them, don't smoke weed unless you're absolutely certain in yourself that it won't have a negative effect on your being. It's highly important not to feel pressured, anxious or paranoid, as it will tip you over the edge.

Look, you shouldn't smoke pot with those conditions.

Now, if you're going to do it anyway here are some of my musical recommendations within the doom and sludge genre:

Amenra - Mass IIII

Cough - Ritual Abuse

This Will Destroy You - Young Mountain (not really Sludge or Doom, more post-rock-y but this is something else when you're high!)

god, i wish i could.

i just did my final out of the air force on friday and i'm itchin' to get me some. might have to go across town and get a medical license for pain caused by the military, and then have the sweet shit delivered to my house.

Well conserved weed can last a couple year. Mine's older than an year right now and it's still perfectly fine, still a good smell too.

I wouldn't recommend you smoking whilst on that kind of medication and with those assorted mental health issues. However, if you are going to anyway, I would highly recommend that you give this track a shot.

AGAIN... the high was fine.

I'm gonna chime in with everyone else here and say that even if said high was fine just now, who knows what could happen the next few times, especially with your body having so many different meds in its system at the same time.

I'd at the very least talk to your doctor who prescribed you all of those that you're thinking about taking medical, all hypothetical, and ask him what the possible side effects/repercussions/etc could be.

Just because playing Russian Roulette doesn't kill me 5/6 times doesn't mean its not fucking dangerous and idiotic.
