Special thanks to Wolffen for the voices, your stuff was fantastic man, its all in the game.

Holy shit, really?!! Cool! I've always wanted to do some voice work, so thanks for the opportunity. Dammit. Wish I could load this up here at work! Did you even use the laugh?

The laugh is the best bit.

"PLAYER 1s WASTED" worked great at the openbar party last night too :D

Is there SP in the game?

You can play single player, it's pretty tough though.

Awesome work guys, I hope this bad boy gets some XBLA exposure.:D Also, never thought I'd see NeoGAF in a Microsoft press release.:lol

the question is...

will there now be a flood of new user registrations thanks to that.

We were mentioned in this month's OXM as well, for Last Alarm. m0dus gets two nods from MS in one month!

Wha? We need scans!

And did Ghost and m0dus win? I see no outright statement >.>

I love that you used the laugh for when everyone dies or the base is destroyed. My wife still doesn't believe that it's my voice.

Shit, you ain't kidding!

I must say, you and m0dus did an awesome job in 96 freaking hours. I keep wanting to pick up C# and start playing with XNA, but I keep getting to0 many projects at work dumped on me. Seeing you guys pull this off in such a short period of time is really inspiring, though.

What do you mean by this? Cuz I'm getting the error too.

For those not able to get the game to work (I was having the same problem), make sure you have the XNA Framework installed, and try installing .NET Framework 3.0:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...1F-F187-478C-9DA5-AAEB0904782B&displaylang=en

Then reboot your computers and try again. If it still doesn't work, try installing XNA studio and
give 'er another go.

I got two errors dealing with XNA Graphics adapter and the Sound Engine, but on the third try, it ran.

Wish I could get scans, but it's a USA rag. ;) How about a couple of paragraphs?

Though they live on opposite sides of the Atlantic, Josh Butterworth and Maher Al-Samkari of Triology Productions are making impressive progress with Last Alarm, which Butterworth describes as a "labor of love". "The joy of doing this for fun is that our aims are very simple: this isn't a business venture; we aren't in it to make money," he explains, "So our only goals are to make the best game we possibly can and get as many people to enjoy it as possible."

The game, which has been inspired by "traditional shooters from the days of old" like Silpheed, R-Type, and Tyrian, began on the NeoGAF.com forums around the time of XNA's release

And then it goes on and on about things that only make me bitter since I really wanted to be a part of the team, but work schedules got in the way (on the plus side, I've had about four promotions since they started on it...)

That's in this months issue? I thought it was in the May one...damn i need a copy.

The source code is a crazy mess i wouldnt wish it on anyone. If you need to know how to do something post it on the Last Alarm dev forum and I'll hook you up. I havent decided if I'll find time to tidy it up/improve it.

there's no winner.

the "contest" or challenge was to actually get it completed in the 4 days.
Ah, I see. I had this confused with the one where the winning team got $10,000 and a deal to publish on XBLA.

I wonder how much of our statements they actually wrote . . . how do the screenshots Ghost gave 'em, or the concept art I gave 'em look?

And people, it's not important that we got NeoGAF printed in OXM. It's far more significant that we got them to print the word "TRIOLOGY" :lol

So ghost, on the subject of Last Alarm, DIDJA GET THAT THING I SENT YA?
You know, the level 2 .psd download link? :-) c'mon, ya gotta tell me what you think of it when you get back to the olde worlde

You guys are at the very end of the XNA article and there's two screens. Both look nice, but are somewhat small. The write up is actually really meaty and seems to be mostly quotes from both of you.

Oh, and above the story, in a large font, is the title of the game, Triology, and the website. You've won. :lol

Triology is in OXM and no one made a thread?!?!

I just got my issue yesterday and just assumed everyone knew about this already and it had spawned three threads (two locked) I'M SORRY. :lol

Congrats on the whole thing guys, this might make your peoper xna game title much more well known now also so you better get working on it!

I request an exception to the scan rule to be made!

Having just gotten their first press, and perhaps lots of new eyes on the forum, breaking policy to scan their magazine might not be the best idea. :lol

Congrats on getting it done, guys! I can't imagine how hard it must have been to get that game working in such a short amount of time.

So when will this be up on XBLA? Wednesday? It certainly wasn't there last night when I checked.

Ghost said:
Is it on news stands yet do you know?

It should be, I picked mine up on Friday. I couldn't stop laughing when I saw Triology printed in there. And congratulations on the recent exposure and everything.

It's not coming to XBLA, you can play it on the PC now with the links on this page.

Someone tell me quick, is this the March 2007 issue with Guitar Hero 2 on the cover? Im about to get on the plane so i need to know!

And yeah it will only be available on PC. Unless i put a hell of a lot more work into it.

balls.

Ok time to go bug OXM editors.

thanks for the instant help ;)

By the way I'd appricate feedback on Damage Control. I need to decide whether I'm going to draw a line under it or complete my grander vision.

Include it as a mini-game in Last Alarm!!

I'll add keyboard support and fix the core integrity bug today or tomorrow but beyond that I'd have to quit my job or compromise the Last Alarm schedule and no one's offering to cover my bills so it's probably just going to have to wait.

Plus MS dont really want DC submitted to Dream Build Play, its not against the rules or anything but basically it would be way too messy PR wise to let one of their XNA challenge games win.

Last Alarm might fit into DBP anyway if what I'm told about the next version of the GSE/XNA framework is true.

Ghost -- Was cool meeting you at the MS party, and grats on the project. Damage control is a really fun game, especially when you're playing with friends.

Thanks!

Yeah i was pretty ropey by the end of that party, i could get used to MS open bars.

I was away all weekend, and missed everything from thursday night onward. Good job Ghost and mOdus! I hope you took severe advantage of the free/open bar to celebrate. Now I gotta finally pick up a corded 360 controller.

Mines still up at:

http://www.codeplex.com/DamageControl/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=2228

All the others have problems, Abdux and Simian Escape need fixes & Dungeon Quest is just on a really slow server, Benni told me he was going to put up a torrent link when he got home..but i guess like me he passed out as soon as he walked in the door.

His website is http://exdream.no-ip.info/blog/ so i imagine a link will go up there at some point today.

I have keyboard support working now (though 8-way control makes it even harder) I'll upload it today at some point.
