As far as movies go, The Goonies IS my childhood...watched it so many damn times. It was the perfect weekend/rainy afternoon movie to pop in and watch. 26yo btw, for the record. I talked about so highly that several years ago, a friend of mine(one year old, who never saw it growing up...how dare he!), surprised me with the DVD for my birthday. And i'll be buying it on Blu-Ray DAY ONE!

It's just a fun damn movie, so many great characters, great lines...and, great music, and i don't just mean Cyndi Lauper...but ever little whimsical, suspenseful, mysterious, action score and sound cue is etched in my memory.

Hey, Corey Feldman has his own reality show now with Corey Haim. That's got to count for something.

And Martha Plimpton (Stef) has been in some good films recently. Kerri Green (Andi) did some good stuff as well.

i has Goonies and Explorers too. (Read the novelization of Goonies too, which was great, and neither was I from the USoA)

miss the 80s. loads of good stuff from that era.

See it for the spectacle alone. Everybody hated because it was insanely popular. Everybody might hate on it, but everybody and their grandmother saw it twice at the movies.
I saw it once in the movies. With my grandmother. Was the first time I saw nudity on screen. Talk about awkward. :lol

Of course, when we got the VHS tapes I played that part over and over... thank god for broadband and readily available internet porn now.

I didn't think it was bad. I liked the spectacle. Though yes, it was long and took forever to get to the actual sinking.

YES!
The greatest thing about the movie really... the component that brought it all together.
