When the fear of "God" is put into anyone, there is little choice for many of these people to do anything but believe. Most religions you don't see more than just people looking down on you and calling you names for not believing in what they believe, for this religion however things are quite a bit different. If you do not believe in what the masses believe then you are looked at as being sub human and not even worth the life you live, you either blindly follow what so many of them do(and many other religions) or you get brought to "justice" by having your body smashed against the ground with various things or having one less head on your shoulders.

You would get rocks thrown at you and quite a few death stares for saying that around people who believe this religion. First world countries are some of the few that actually believe in any amount of equality between the sexes, the moment you step into most third world countries is when you take a step back a couple hundred(or thousand) years.
One of the main things taught to young girls is that the man is your master and you will serve him fully and be happy doing so, never questioning. The only thing the men think is that women are fine with a single man that they will follow like a loyal dog, where as the men get themselves as many "slaves" as they want and can have all their desires fulfilled. It's pathetic that so many still follow this lie, but to them it's worked for thousands of years, why should they have to change it now?

In some threads, I've seen people saying things like the words of Qur'an is sacred and is taken as literal truths, such as in things like homosexuality being seen as sin. People would be like, well, it's wrong in the holy text, and we don't debate the holy text.
