So, lets settle this. Fat PS4 CUH 12xx or PS4 Slim 20xx ?

Lets start by taking the pro out. Lets assume you have a super powerful PC for multiplatform gaming and only interested in Sony for exclusives.

Or you gonna buy Xbox one X for multiplatform since its more powerful than the PRO and you want a base PS4 for the exclusives they are offering.

which of the PS4 models you are interested in given the choice since both at the same price.

Personally I will go for the Fat PS4 CUH 12xx because I like the edge design more than rounded console on the slim

Not a fan of the original PS4 design. Looks nice in renders but feels cheap. I swear I've never even touched the glossy part but it looks like it's been scratched to hell

i prefer the slim model.

the only reason i would go for the original model is that it can fit more USB drives on the front. but that's not really that big an issue... my OG ps4 could access my USB drive but my slim can't.

the slim is by far the better model. more efficient/quieter/cooler/smaller/better looking.

I think the Slim looks a little bit better than the OG I have now.

If I wasn't using an HDMI switcher with separate optical out for my Astro mixamp I'd probably prefer the full fat, but if I were to buy one today that wasn't a Pro, I'd prefer it to be a slim (like I'd really have a choice).

Slim model, easily. I mean it sucks that I have no use for the Bloodborn hdd cover sony sold me, but it's just better looking and runs better.

I love the Slim.

And if you live in a country where energy is expensive, the lower power consumption will save you lots of money on the long run.

I'm cheap and I'm not opposed to the fan noise as long as it's not excessive, so FAT for me. I actually have a high end PC and I'm looking to grab a cheap PS4 when Kingdom Hearts comes out. Maybe I'll play Horizon too. Once I can grab the original model for $120 or so then I'm snatching it up

Fat if you want the optical out, which is also useful for mixamps. Otherwise slim for less noise and slightly better portability.

the original PS4 isn't even that loud to be honest. at least mines wasn't (bought december 2013).

my slim is really quiet but when the fan spins up it is LOUD but it happens rarely usually whenever a game is in photo mode.

Slim by far.

Most surround systems can be connected via HDMI. Other than the lack of optical the slim is quieter, smaller, more subtle, and doesn't have the obnoxious ass light bar.

Considering how nice-looking the OG PS4 is, I feel Sony really dropped the ball on the two newer designs. The slim looks cheap and the pro looks dumb.
Say what you will about xbox, but they've really stepped up their hardware design since the, I would say, fairly atrocious original xbone. Their newer units look really good.

I have a launch PS4 and a PS4 Pro. I prefer the "edgy" design of the original fat PS4. But if I were buying a PS4 now, I would prefer to get a new PS4 slim with the better internals unless you can score a fat PS4 for a lot less.

The original model PS4 is just too good, especially compared to the Slim and Pro models. The Slim just looks like a postal scale. It doesn't look appealing at all. If Sony makes a slimmer model in the future, I hope it looks better than the Slim model.

i really didn't like the slim model at first but went for it when my OG crapped out. i actually prefer it now. i also didn't like the look of the Pro and still don't. if they ever release a PS4 Pro Slim I'll get that.

I have a powerful PC for multiplatform games and am only interested in Sony exclusives, and I got a pro because all of those first-party games are going to utilize the extra hardware.

With the weird restriction in place, the slim because it looks better and doesn't sound like a jet engine.

same and I'm sure they will but i'm not spending ~ÂŁ100 more for a Pro and then going out to buy a 4K TV to get the most out of it. I'd rather drop that ~ÂŁ400 towards upgrading my PC right now (not that i need it since it's already more powerful than a XB1X)

i'll buy a 4K tv when the PS5 is out and we can actually play most games at 2160p. PS4 Pro mostly upscales 1440/1800p to 2160p so it's not proper 4K.

I like small consoles so the slim. But it can get very loud so people who are sensitive to that should be aware of that.

I love the design of the slim because of it's uniform shape. Without the sharp angles and the quadrant design, it looks sleeker.

Sold my fat PS4 and got a Slim PS4.

100% get the PS4 Slim. Better in every way, smaller, lighter, quieter, runs cooler, uses less energy, easier to clean innards when PS4 clogs up dust after a while, has a upgraded WiFi card has 5ghz/AC support, includes newest controller model etc

Don't be silly getting the old Fat PS4 just because of its outer look.

Two questions:

Does the Slim have a USB port in the back? And does it have an optical port?
Nope only Pro got a 3rd USB port which is in the back and also no optical port

I am very OCD when it comes to noise level. unless there are different versions and it depends on your luck, because my brother has one and its dead quite.

I think the Day 1s sound like a friggin jet engine, as per my friend's, while I got my fat a year later on BF and it's quiet. It's either day 1s are loud, or its just luck.

That being said, I haven't even seen one of the slims yet so I don't know.

Slim. Not even a contest.

Edit to add: In regards to noise, my launch ps4 has been whisper quiet since I cleaned out the fan and replaced the thermal compound with gc extreme.

I've got a black one of the rejigged, quiet, fat versions with a blue HDD plate.

Honestly, I'm hoping the old girl won't give up the ghost until I'm far enough into next fen that it'll make more sense to just get a PS5, because I honestly think the Slim and Pro look like cheap knock offs in comparison.
