So Marvel Cinematic Universe Villains...

You know what, I'm sick of all the bashing for the villains of the MCU. I know not all of them are handled well and yeah, some of them are just there for main hero to beat them for the plot moving forward but i don't think MCU has a ''villain problem'' and if you include Netflix show this whole arguement makes no sense at all. I know, for every Kingpin there's a Malekith but this is a cinematic universe consists of more than 10 movies plus TV + Netflix shows and every single movie has a villain to introduce and i'm actually okay with some of the villains are being just you know ''okay''. And i gotta say except Malekith i don't think any of the MCU is bad. To support my arguement i want to make a villain tier list and would love to see your's.

Bad Tier:
Malekith - Forgottable and has zero character depth.


'' I Want My Bird'' Tier:

Whiplash- He's the OG Rope Guy.


Okay Tier:


Ronan - Although he's just an obstacle for Guardians to overcome he had some badass scenes.

Yellowjacket - He's just an asshole businessman want some power with selling bio weapons. But he looked amazing in that suit and Corey Stoll's performance was decent.

Red Skull - Hugo Weaving did an amazing job and his appearance was really comic- accurate but Red Skull was still far from memorable.

Iron Monger- Another evil business man played by Jeff Bridges. Yet another decent performance from a great actor and not enough character depth but his background with Tony made him servicable enough.

Good Tier:


Alexandre Pierce- Robert Redford was great and he was beliavable. Preety great monologues.

Aldrich Killan- Another evil business man? This time with a great plan and some actual character depth!

Abomination- This guy is just a smarter Hulk and it works! Oh and that final fight was amazing.


Great Tier:


Helmut Zemo- His motivations were very clear and his plan worked. This guy actually teared the Avengers apart and won. His presence was intimidating thanks to superb performance from Daniel Brühl.

Ultron- An evil RDJ inspired AI with ''father' problems'' . This is so Joss Whedon!

Grant Ward- His whole transformation from boyscout to a complete asshole was handled really well. He actually made AoS watchable at some points.



Purple guy sitting in a chair Tier:

Thanos- Fine, he'll do it himself.



Loki Tier:


Kingpin- Vincent D'onofrio KILLED it. Both brutal and emotional guy. Threatening and kinda psychopath but somewhat relatable.

Killgrave- This guy is just a HUGE asshole and very actions are very disturbing.David Tennant's spectacular performance makes you really hate him and he steals every single scene he's in.

Loki - He's the core element of MCU along with RDJ.
 
Whiplash, Malekith, Ronan and Yellowjacket were all absolute shit-tier. Everyone else ranged from ok to pretty great.

Marvel TV hasn't had a bad main antagonist yet. Kingpin, Purple Man, and Ward have all been fantastic.
 
I really wouldn't call Ultron "great tier". It had its potential, but it lost it when it was constantly doing quips and funny faces. It's an AI, a robot, it shouldn't act like a human being.
 
I agree with everything but Ultron. I despised the try-hard comic relief approach. They built him up as this menacing, mechanical being of pure destruction. We got the complete opposite.

So anyone else think it's plausible (though not certain) that in Infinity War...

all the villains directly killed by an infinity stone (Red Skull, Malekith, Ronan, Ultron)
will return?
 
The MCU is quickly turning into monster-of-the-film in its depiction of their villains. I'm thankful that they don't have access to Doom or any of the X-catalog because I'm almost certain they'll just off them in their debut appearance.

Red Skull should return. He's a huge deal in comics and has so much potential.
 
Ultrons problem was he was stark 2.0... if his delivery was more "robotic" he would've been far more terrifying, but he wasnt as awful as people make him out to be

Hugos red skull was epic and his line delivery was perfect

Kingpin and killgrave did we expect anything less from the two guys portraying them

Loki comes off just as his comic counterpart is,great acting

Ultron was a great idea, but really shit in execution in the movie.
 
I think Mavel just had the misfortune of having all their mainstream villains pooled into series that they don't have the rights to film.
 
Zemo.. his plan was full of luck and coincidences, but at least he's one of the few villains who's plan actually worked.

Is it cheating to call Hydra a villain? If not, hydra in Winter Soldier is by far the best villain in the MCU.

That's not Ultron then. His whole schtick is hating humanity while also being kinda oblivious to how much he wants to be human.
 
Zemo isn't a great villain. He succeded in doing what both prior Avengers villains had done as a byproduct of their actions - cause infighting with the heroes. And they didn't need an incomprehensible plan to do it.

Did even a week go by before his plan to destroy the Avengers resulted in forgiveness between Captain America & Iron Man (where Iron Man no longer wants to see Cap arrested)? All he did was get some of the Avengers imprisoned for a bit, and get Rhodey some neat exoskeleton legs.

Brühl's performance was alright, though.

How Tony feels about Steve and Bucky isn't really solidified, he's just not raging anymore. The Avengers are still broken up and most of them are on the run, plus Steve is no longer Captain America. Rhodey's legs don't work, mang.

Marvel movie villains aren't great, but unfortunately Warner Bros are also squandering some great villains (Lex and Joker). Marvel-GAF and DC-GAF need to unite and protest, I miss cool memorable villains.

I just follow the Marvel movie+Netflix stuff, not the comics, and I'm having trouble remembering most of that list.

Brühl was pretty good in Civil War though.

Almost the villains in the MCU are pretty bad. Zemo and Loki are alright. Kingpin is pretty good. Kilgrave was good at first but ultimately a let down.

The rest all serve their purpose but aren't really good characters.
 
Winter Soldier isn't a villain, he's a weapon. That's the whole point. Cap, the idiot, missed the back half of the twentieth century, so he doesn't appreciate the principle of nuclear non-proliferation.

Dont forget the mess that was doomsday... this move shoulda been worlds finest in live action, with a lesser villan like metallo at the end versus what we got

That's what a lot of people think will happen.
On one hand, we get back a bunch of villains and they dont have to rely so much on Thanos having an army of aliens.
On the other hand, it probably means we don't get to see The Black Order in action in the MCU.
 
Zemo was a good villlian?? Lmao

All the villain have been garbage tier except for loki who himself has been only good in the first avengers movie, but went back to meh tier in thor2.
