Bullshit. A year or two ago, I would have proved you wrong, and I doubt that it's such a rare thing. There are quite a few people who were articulate at age 14, nevertheless age 15, and I'm sure other GAF users could agree on that point.

Brava, good sir. Brava. *golf clap*
Are you trying to say that he's female? ("brava" is the female usage of praise in Italian) That's one scam I doubt even "he" could pull off.
Otherwise, I personally doubt that this is a con. The manner in which the OP accepted the DS for his sister - with hesitancy, grace and sincerity - in the original thread seemed "real" to me.
But then again, I could also see this
easily being an actual con. I could see the OP spinning a sob story for attention which quickly spiraled out of control. The DS offer would seem like a step too far, he would be taking money from people who believed his lies, but then he'd realize that further hesitancy to act would induce increased skepticism on the rest of his story. This would also explain why he appeared vague and obtuse when taking on the advice of others on how to save his home.
Of course, the other explanation is that he's a kid in a tough place. He might be able to use the written word quite well, but the technicalities of everyday finance and law can escape even the most learned of academics. And why would he be worried for himself about the separation when his mother needs all his support? This appears to be the GAF consensus: I (NeoGAF) don't know about you guys, but when my parents split I sold all my stuff for bills, gave up school, went to work, helped my mum out in any way she asked, and refused to reflect on my own prospects moving forward.
Well, GAF, we can't all be perfect like you. Some of us worry about whether we're going to make it to and through university (college, if you're a Yank). The onset of part-time work and further financial destabilization that a break-up between two parents can induce heavily threatens this. But of course, this must be dismissed.
Sure, this might be a twisted, clever hoax gone wrong, but I would personally give the benefit of the doubt to the OP in this case. The subjects that are in consideration here, and the seriousness of the outcomes make this a particularly significant discussion, even if the story itself is fictional and not real. Some of you people, meanwhile, have attitudes that make me understand how the witch hunts your ancestors went on could actually occur.
