I watched For A Few Dollars More before playing RDR. When Monco and the Colonel ambush the pueblo and the entire plain is bleached white I thought, "God, I hope Red Dead Redemption is like this." Clearing the Nosalida hideout is exactly like it. Most players who slander RDR are either not fans of westerns and did not care about John Marston's troubles, or they bought an open-world game expecting a sandbox game.

I had this experience in reverse. After I finished RDR I actually watched a Fist Full of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More for the first time because I loved the game so much. Yeah, yeah, Mexico dragged on too long, but then again I did all the flower challenges. Did I tell you about the time I killed bears with a knife? The hidden treasure I found? The time I shot the hats off the cowboys in the saloon? For me, the best part of RDR outside of the story was the fun optional stuff. For me it comes down to setting I guess. I love videogame westerns for some reason.

Finally broke down and bought the 360 version after waiting for a PC version. It will probably be announced tomorrow.

Terrible gameplay in an awesome setting with great music and graphics - and a nice story. I literally fell asleep playing it though - actually playing RDR isnt all that fun.

No skill whatsoever required - mindless dreck. But I have to tell myself its a Rockstar game and expect it. I dont play their games for the shooting mechanics and combat.

granted gta 4 did the same thing.but it wasnt all brown and mountains thru the whole game.

god,rdr was a waste of time.

What a silly description. The suggestion that those four bullet points represent the entire experience of Red Dead Redemption could not be more ridiculous.

edit: I hate to sound like an angry asshole. I just think that's selling this game incredibly short. But to each to their own suppose.

In an industry dominated by dark fantasy, scifi, and modern military RDR was a wonderful refreshing reprieve.

Well it's worse in every respect graphically speaking, draw distance, resolution, AA, frame rate, textures. It's no Bayo style trainwreck, but it's a subpar port, no doubt.

But yeah, it's still an awesome game, just the Xbox version is noticeably superior.
