So, that Pokemon XY&Z opening

I came to view the nice ads mentioned in the OP. Didn't see one, but that opening is pretty intriguing for some reason, despite not watching the anime for years and barely playing X/Y.

by the way, the made up badges

for comparison, here is the game badges

well yeah it hasn't stopped him, most things in the anime never have regardless of whether or not they should logically. removing the certainty that ash must always triumph and put the team in more objective light, and it's easy to deduce that three out of the five having a weakness to rock, while the fourth and fifth has a weakness to a different type (electric) that one of the other pokemon share a weakness to, does not make for a very competitive team. take five out of the six ash used in the OS or Sinnoh, and Kalos Ash goes down. Gliscor with stone edge would fuck this team up something fierce

definitely would have been better off if he had kept that goodra

I dunno, Greninja would still be a fast attacker, and even with weaknesses most of them are covered by each other. But it still depends on the parameters.

Goodra doesn't really fit Ash's style of going all out fast (his Snorlax was surprisingly fast), with that said Goodra learned to adapt. But he's busy being a father now, I guess.

Yikes, Team Rocket is still there? To serve the same repetitive slapstick comedy?

God damn if the Pokemon anime (series) isn't among the most repetitive and stagnant TV shows. Even as a kid I grew tired of it relatively quickly and enjoyed some actually good stuff like Digimon way more.

It's funny, cause this season shook up things a bit.

It's more a mix of standard Pokémon and Shounen Anime now.

There are more than 8 gyms usually. You just need 8 badges to compete.

In unova Ash even goes with that forgetful dude who is missing a badge, to a gym fight at a gym that ash hasn't been to.

Ash is still 10, right? He seems to be 14-15 in the current art style, and an older look suits him well.

Iwane draws Ash like that. Even Serena gets that treatment too.

The opening looked pretty cool.
Earlier you had an image that had the correct gym badges, you should link to that cause the fact they had the correct gym badges for Ash, but not for this guy seems pretty deliberate.

Yeah my post was showing the "made up" badges, accidentally showed the correct one.

Most predictable post in the thread?

found it strange that the globe in Act 4 was based on real life and not their fictional earth, as you could clearly see western europe, africa, the eastern seaboard of the united states and central america, even stranger since the zoomed out Kalos in the opening clearly doesn't correspond with how france and the surrounding nations looks

make up your damn mind writers

Really?? I can't help but feel that he looks younger than he ever did. Something about his current body proportions... he looked slightly lankier in the early seasons than he does now I think. Now his body looks super compressed and his head looks bigger to me lol

Don't take the badges to mean anything. Gary had different badges in Kanto, Cameron had different ones in Unova. It means nothing.

I think the idea the anime had was that there are a bunch of gyms and badges besides the game ones in each region, but you only ever need 8 badges to enter the league, and Ash just ends up going to the ones from the video games.

Haven't watched the anime in years but its still weird seeing Greninja pushed as Ash's main pokemon over pikachu in that opening.

That's still looking Mega Greninja-y to me unless something else has popped up in the meantime. Also, who's the old guy near the end of the opening?

(Haven't watched the anime for quite a while so I'm mainly interested for possible game connections right now... maybe when they fill in the DVD gap though, since they're finally starting to put out Johto stuff...)

Edit: Oh. Welp, guess XY's gym leaders really didn't leave an impression on me. My bad.

Wonder if there's two zygarde fusions involving xernas and yveltal that fuse to make the ultimate form

Well, the director teased that there are two Cores. In today's episode, one Core escaped and is currently with the gang, the other is Zygarde 50% being searched by Flare.

Why does it look like Ash fused with his Greninja

Please tell me that's bit what's happening

No, it's a visual representation of their "love" synching.

Trash still hasn't gotten to Wulfric? lol

No he's busy saving Kalos.

It seems to be pretty much a Mega Evolution without a Mega Stone, based on the promo material seen so far and this opening.

While I like Complete Form, this screenshot really improves a lot on the design

you can still see the snake-ness and the whole fluidity of the design

and finally the gundam comparisons are vindicated, since that stance is gundam-y, you could say a-meijin :P

looks good, haven't watched in 15 but i'm glad to see ashes tears are still magical

i should play the games...............have x downloaded digitally

I really need to catch up on the X and Y series, I was really enjoying it. and considering XY&Z appears to be treading into new territory not covered in the games, it seems worth watching.

Im beginning to worry Ash Greninja is a foreshadowing of the excuse theyll use to give us Mega Pikachu before Raichu.

Welp ash doesn't love pikachu enough confirmed.....oh wait I almost forgot about the whole thunder armor thing lol.

Zydog is still great.

Well Froakie didn't "change" his attitude unlike say, Pikachu or Charizard, so there's that!

Great OP.

So the guy from the Mega Evolution specials is evil?

Misguided.

ME4 ends with
Hari-san (Manon's Chespin) suffering the Pokemon equivalent of radiation poisoning, Alain blames himself because he shooed off Manon and he couldn't protect her smile, Lysandre tricks him into saying that Squishy is the key of her salvation
.

He was "reset" at the start of the black/white anime lol.
Wait what?!

Shh we don't talk about BW

doubt you'll have to worry about that. if Greninja ends up not technically filling up the mega space on his team, it'll almost certainly be to make room for charizard Y.

Badass Picture

I still maintain that Ash's X/Y team is the most boring team that I have ever seen since Jotho, it's just so uninspiring.

And he still has a spot left for a last Pokémon

He should get back his Goodra.

I would say that he already has a dragon on his team but then again his team is mostly flying type so why not.

Wait, so does this mean the next Pokemon game is Z?

There's a high chance that it is but knowing Game Freak they are also hiding something else.

So is Ash's Pikachu still not lv 99? It has to be after all this time....

Levels don't exist in the animé.

It probably rather means that the 2016 game will be much more than "Pokémon Z". Since the Z era has already started not only in the anime, but also in other media like Pokémon Tretta and Pokémon Special, it would be odd if the game's content is limited to content already covered franchise-wide for months prior to its release. My guess is that Zygarde, Ash-Greninja, and co. will only be one factor for the next game. The other factor could be a strong focus on the 20th Anniversary, although it's hard to guess with Game Freak these days. :p

Even Pokemon Special has started.
I know I'm being impatient but I need a new mainline Pokemon game!
