So... the Wii U in Q2...

Actually the Wii U (Nintendo) circle is much shorter..

Nintendo needs to announce more games/IPs!
*New games or IPs are announced*

They don't count! They are not like Mario!
*A Mario game is announced*

Not Mario again! Please Nintendo, announce more IPs!
*repeat*

Congratulations, you've made history by being the first person to ever formulate that sentence.

That seems like a different circle, not a replacement.

I work in Canadian retail, so this is all very anecdotal.

WiiU still sells well, they just flat out refuse to send you more than 2 or 4 systems at a time. They seem to ship most of their product to Walmart and BestBuy/Future Shop, which people simply don't go to(They have a horrible reputation). My district manager says that Nintendo ignores market share, since the "big box store" is uncommon in Japan, and they think they're the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I'm not sure if any of that is true, but it sort of makes sense.

So basically the reason Wii U is selling poorly is because it's supply constrained in small retailers and nobody shops in the big box retailers.

Riiiiiiiiiiight.

My predictions:

Wii U Q2:

* Pikmin 3
* Game & Wario
* Wii Fit U
* Pokemon Scramble U

Wii U Q3:

* Wii U Party
* Wind Waker HD
* The Wonderful 101

Wii U Q4:

* Wii U Sports
* 3D Mario
* Mario Kart

At this point, I can't see any way that TW101 hits Q2.

To be honest (as a day one wiiu supporter) they NEED this schedule if they stand any chance of the wiiu succeeding (see 3DS and how Mariokart and Super Mario 3D Land changed things)

just a shame that there's nothing there I would buy (well maybe 101 if it turns out great as platinum are a class act).

I'm not a Nintendo core customer though. I was drawn in by Zombiu (and very pleased with it). I should have realised though after rarely playing the wii it wouldn't have much that appeals.

Still, it will get the Mario games in time and my wife really likes those so that'll start to get it used some more.

off topic I know, but didn't those games actually save the ps3 collectively?

Not really. I'd say PS3 Slim, a price drop and Kevin Butler advertisements that all came about the same time saved the PS3. Positive impressions about the Uncharted franchise helped, too, I think.

Excited to see what DQX does for WiiU in Japan

Well, the Wii version did 420k copies in its first week (not very good compared to other titles in the series). By the end of the year, it sold 633,827 copies. Wii's userbase in Japan is nearly 13 million. Wii U's sold slightly over 830k units in Japan.

Is there a lot of hype for the new version in japan?

Based on Famitsu's most wanted games March list, I'd say NOPE. DQX doesn't even appear on the top 20. In fact, the only Wii U title to make it on to the chart is Pikmin 3 at # 14. Back in February, the list featured DQX ranked at # 21.
