So.. this parade just happened in Quebec

Can someone summarize? I don't have FB.

There's a float being pushed by minorities.

Whose on the float? A bunch of white people dressed in white followed by more white people dressed in all white singing what I can only imagine is a unifying song for all people!
The floats being pushed by two black men and what looks like an Asian man? I think?

Worse than Trump?

A float with a woman in a blue dress singing in french, with a map on the back of the float, with the float being pushed by 4 black people in dirty brown clothing, with a crowd of white people in white clothing walking behind them.

Diversity parade with two black people pushing the float while white people sing in the parade. There is a white guy? pushing the float too.

Four black guys in rags push a singer on a float. There's a crowd of people who look like they came straight from that cult in Bioshock Infinite dressed in white following it while slow dancing to what sounds like a knock-off Celine Dion song.

This article doesn't even mention it, says it was "the opening" of the parade by some signer, and never even mentions how weird that was even though the pictures are in the article.

Usually those things aren't even pushed by people, they're motorized. This was probably done deliberately, for whatever reason. I'm going to assume someone thought that having minorities push the cart was "inclusive", showing how they are contributing to society.

Damn good point.

Ok so yea, I don't think we need anymore context.

Is that parade racist?

Yes, fuck yes it is.

It looks bad, but then I don't understand the context of what I'm seeing. For all I know it means the opposite of what I am seeing.

Posting a video like that without any explanation is rather frustrating.

I'll update my first post once I have more information but I haven't seen anything to justify it so far.

And to be honest, I can't think of a single good reason to have that kind of stuff. :/

I'd understand if it was supposed to be a reenactment of some kind for historical reasons, but doesn't seem like it at all.

I mean, the fact that they're wearing dirty rags while everyone else is dressed in clean white makes it hard to imagine any context in which this image isn't unsettling.

The founding of a nation carried by slaves something something

Wrong country. It makes no historical sense. I really think that on paper they thought they would have minorities push the float to represent how minorities contribute through hard work, but it was probably a footnote, they didn't visualize how everyone else would be white. This was probably organized by people who don't know much at all, and worst probably by people who consider themselves progressives.

The opened book behind the piano player is saying "once upon a time" and seems to show a map of Montreal. Makes no sense.

TLDR the organizers defended themselves by saying the cart pushers were a sport team (as if it means anything)
