So, watching the E3 footage last week made me even more depressed that the greatest action game of the current generation was a Wii U exclusive. I want to like the Wii U, but the games. . . Rather than go out and buy a system for one game, how likely is it that we would see this masterpiece go multiplat?
Scenario 1: Nintendo has time limited rights to the intellectual property, afterwhich, platinum would be allowed to seek another publisher. I believed PS4 allows for self publishing, according to the Sony press conference at E3. Would this be an avenue available to platinum?
Scenario 2: Release a repacked product. ala Ultimate Climax edition, which could fall outside any current publishing agreement. Reminds me of how games like Ninja Gaiden went mutliplatform. This is probably or best hope.
Scenario 3: Nintendo has a binding agreement for a console exclusive (perhaps), in which case, a PC version can be ported.
Scenario 4: We harrass the heck out of PG/convice them that a mutliplatform option is too profitable to pass up. Also, damn good lawyers would need to be involved on their behalf.
Scenario 5: Nintendo's publishing rights only extend to a specfic region (NA, europe or JP), theorectically allowing platinium to publish the game in certain markets. The game could then be obtained via import.
Scenario 6: Wait for Bayo 3, and hope that Nintendo does not own the rights for sequels. This would be a disaster scenario.
