so US-GAF, opinions on squared Pizza ?

Having some right now, and i always wondered this.

Here, along with a bunch of other south-american countries, it's basically the common way to get pizza. You need to ask for a "Pizzeta" to get the round one, or as i would call it when i was a kid the Ninja Turtles pizza (always bitched about how our pizza didnt looked like theirs, lol).

How is its presence in north-america ? ive never been there but ive always seen your usual round pizza, never heard of anyone eating it this way. It also takes a different preparation and tastes somewhat different as well. Could you go to a Pizza Hut or whatever and ask for one of these ? have you ?
 
I believe the proper name for it is Sicilian pizza and many pizza shops have it as an alternative but is rarely ordered from my experience. Tomato Pie is common at parties and tailgates served cold as an appetizer and is square in shape.
 
Sicilian? It's delicious if done right. Here in Boston, any respectable pizza shop has it as an option, but it's rare to find a place that does it better than traditional pies. For me, it's best when the crust is airy and chewy — too thick and bread-y isn't as good.

If you're ever in Boston, you are missing the fuck out if you don't go to Galleria Umberto:

This is true most of the times, although i had some pretty thin ones as well.

Another weird fact is that if we ask for Pizza we get one without Mozarella or cheese. Just the dough and sauce. We need to ask for a Mozarella to get the usual one. Friend of mine from there was pretty shocked when he realized we would eat it without cheese, lol.
 
Makes perfect sense when you consider most pizza boxes aren't round, so I don't mind it at all.

Just so long as it ain't that thin crust BULLSHIT.

I like Sicilian pizza from time to time.

In college, Pizza My Heart would have Sicilian pizzas, as well as their regular pizzas. I loved getting their pesto one (which was freshly made) as it was extremely filling on days when I was tired of regular pizza. Also, with the extra olive oil they brushed on the crust, it reminded me of Pizza Hut's pan pizza (which is one of my guilty pleasures).

Yeah, there's ussually two kinds, the one im talking about, and the other with thicker dough that gets served cold on parties and such.

But it doesnt come in a box! comes on paper :)

It's also not as greasy as your typical round pizza.

Without cheese is tomato pie, with cheese is just pizza. At least here in AMERIKUH.

Giannis in Framingham has the best sicillian west of Boston.
 
When I was a kid I loved squared pizza or Tomb Stone pizza as we called them in my part of Brooklyn.

I noticed over the years though that many shops stopped selling them or did not sell them at all. They are usually deeper with more bread and cheese and went for about $2.50 a square compared to $1.25 per normal slice.

Squared pizza is for fascists. It doesn't even make sense, the poor motherfucker who is given the middle pieces doesn't even get to have crust, which disqualifies it from being true pizza in the first place. Prizza should be round and triangle shaped in slices, no other way. I've had square pizza and it doesn't even taste the same as regular pizza, it's weird.

Pineapple on pizza ain't bad. Honestly though, pizza is pizza. I love pizza of all kinds, circular, square, deep dish, thin crust, whatever. If it's pizza I'll eat it. Unless it has something like anchovies. We all have that friend who goes, "Let's get anchovies" and everyone says "No", only for him to retort "Ok, half anchovies?" and for us to lay the smack down, "No dude. No one fucking likes anchovies."

whenever i get a middle piece of square shaped pizza, i always think everyone else that got an edge piece is secretly pitying or laughing at me. how the fuck am i supposed to enjoy this without any fucking crust?!
 
That's it. This is the perfect thread to weed out the infidels. All you square pizza eating jive turkeys are going on my ignore list... starting with Salsa. I could tolerate your transcendental love for Sonic and other furries, but not this Salsa... Not this...
