So what are the next big games on the horizon?

Big "Sales Wise" or "Quality Wise"?

Upcoming games I think will get praised:
infamous
Uncharted 2
Halo ODST
Assassins Creed 2
Bioshock 2
Modern Warfare 2

Plenty of others really. :D

dont know if they are big but between now and end of june im buying:

sacred 2, battlestations pacific, ufc 2009, infamous, prototype, batman arkham asylum and red faction guerilla.

All the games I want will most likely not make 2009.

Final Fantasy XIII
Dead Rising 2
Lost Planet 2
Bioshock 2

All of those will be 2010 titles. Not that I care, this is all I'm buying for the remainder of the year:

Blazblue
KOFXII
Metal Slug 7 (XBLA)
VOOT (XBLA)
KOF98DM (XBLA)

This is fine by me, having no "huge" release this year, because I intend on finishing Star Ocean, 1k'ing SF4 and RE5, and then backlogging the rest of the year (Last Remnant, Lost Oddysey, 1k on Dead Rising, 1k on Lost Planet, Armored Core IV are my backlog priorities).

Halo ODST, Bioshock 2, Assasin's Creed 2, Modern Warfare 2, Max Payne 3 and Uncharted 2 are the next big games that I anticipate the most.

two most anticipated upcoming games are Punch-Out and inFamous. inFamous looks gorgeous and Punch-Out could possibly be my game of the year based on gameplay I've seen.

Also Little King Story and possibly Fat Princess.

Is Witcher coming out this year on consoles? If so that one. Mabye Sacred 2 for a hack and slash fix. Somebody needs to make a Baldur's Gate type game. Those worked great on consoles.

There's a ton this year, I don't think I'm going to be able to buy them all actually, and I don't think I could play them if I did.

Assassin's Creed 2 - I like AC1, it's rough, and needed more time in development, but the potential for something great is there.
Bayonetta - I think it'll be amazing.
BioShock 2 - This I might not be picking up, I love BioShock 1, best shooter this generation, but I'm not very excited about the sequel, might pick it up next year over the summer.
Brutal Legend - Very excited, should be a lot of fun.
Heavy Rain - Very excited again, could be awful, could be magnificent.
Modern Warfare 2 - Could be another one for next year, though if I don't start on the MP about the same time as everyone, I'm never going to play it. I'd like to though.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 - NG2 with co-op, bad ass.
Singularity - This could be absolute crap, or amazing, the ideas are great.
Uncharted 2 - Will be picking this up for sure, loved the first one.
Katamari Forever - Not massively excited, but I'll buy it I'm sure.
Red Dead Redemption - Never played the first one, but I'm excited about it.
Halo 3 ODST - The one shooter I will be picking up day one for sure.

If GoW3, GT5, The 3rd Birthday and LBP PSP are out this year, I'll buy those for sure.

I don't think I can afford all that. It's going to be tough.

inFamous
Fat Princess
Trine
Patapon 2
Uncharted 2
MAG
Heavy Rain

And anything from Q Games that has Pixel Junk for its name.

If Bioshock 2 doesn't comes out in 2009, I'll shave off my nipples.

Don't look to the future! Enjoy the current lull! Shrink your Backlog!

I'm gonna be getting Yakuza 2 out of the way soon. Sooooo excited.

Bingo! I have a nice little window to get through some stuff I haven't been able to get through in sometime. As soon as I get through Radec, Deadspace will be the first on my list.

But for the topic creator, I think everything has pretty much been mentioned.

Wow, it took 63 posts til someone mentioned Ghostbusters?!?!?! WTF is wrong with you people?!

on my list:
inFAMOUS
Ghostbusters PS3
Ghostbusters Wii
Prototype
Fat Princess

maybes:
Conduit
Bionic Commando
Ghostbusters DS
Punch Out

Persona PSP - Releases this month
Heavy Rain - Late 2009?
Final Fantasy XIII - Confirmed for Winter 2009

Those are the ones that come immediately to me, but there are others.

Well, for the rest of the year I'm looking at:

-inFAMOUS :D :D :D :D
-Fat Princess :D :D
-Prototype :D :D :D
-Little King's Story :D :D
-Uncharted 2 :D :D :D :D :D
-Assasin's Creed 2 :D :D
-Heavy Rain :D

My anticipation list for the rest of the year goes as follows. I will provide explanations for everything and be warned I only own an Xbox 360. Had PS3, sold it. Also had DS Lite, and sold that.

Sports games:

Virtua Tennis 2009 - This game comes out in May and the Virtua Tennis are always known to be quality titles. This is a game I can see myself picking up in the middle of the summer on a discount price. Not something I need on day one but I skipped out on Virtua Tennis 3 and this seems to be an improvement on all levels. Maybe once it hits the $30ish pricepoint.

Fight Night Round 4 - I loooove Fight Night and this game looks like it won't disappoint. This is a game I can envision picking up the first week its out. I will wait on reviews that I expect will be very solid, somewhere between an 8.5-9.5

Madden NFL 10 - Day one. They are touting a lot of new features and gameplay fixes for the new year. Last year I attended my first ever midnight launch with a bunch of my friends for this game and we will probably do it again.

FIFA Soccer 10 - I really don't know. I've enjoyed the FIFA games for years but I actually have never owned the game. I play soccer too. I just have never been wowed enough to pluck down $60 when all my friends own it and I can play it at their houses. Maybe they will do something this year to change my mind.

NBA 2K10 - After NBA 2K8 really not doing much to differentiate itself from 2K7 I never really gave 2K9 a good look. I played it at my friends houses a few times but that was about it. Recently though I rented the game and absolutely love it, it really took a next generation step with a lot of new features and smoother gameplay among other things. Hopefully 2K10 like all these sports games can really step it up for the 2009-2010 season.

These are the games that the premise sounds great but I certainly have to wait and see if it was executed well:

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood - I absolutely love old west games and I remember the first CoJ demo being absolutely terrible and more like a tech demo for DirectX 10. I really hope this game turns out well because I even found a way to beat the ultra glitchy Gun multiple times. I've been waiting on a good old west game since I got the system in December 2005.

Brütal Legend - Concept is cool. I enjoy Jack Black and Tim Schafer is a video game genius.

Assassin's Creed 2 - I was super hyped for the first Assassin's Creed but then the reviews came out and said while the wide openness of the game was great, the game was extremely repetitive. That isn't something I look for in video games. AC2 looks to have much more varied environments and it will more then likely build off the weaknesses of the first game. I am expecting big things.

Alan Wake? - Hopefully we get this game this year. It really has been too long. If it is announced for release before the end of the year it is easily my most hyped game.

Movies based games:

Ghostbusters: The Video Game - I have always like Ghostbusters and I like the videos I have seen. Could be a good rental.

Batman: Arkham Asylum - All the potential in the world for this one. I see this as a hit or miss. Something that will be universally rated by critics as an 8.0 or above or rated below a 6.0

Classic franchises:

Halo 3: ODST - Day one. Halo 3 was the reason I bought Xbox 360. I love the concept of this game, not playing as Master Chief.

Tekken 6 - Tekken might be about the only fighting game I enjoy and the news the 6th incarnation in the series was making it over to the 360 made a happy camper. It's a simple enough fighter with characters that I have known for over a decade brought into the next generation.

Modern Warfare 2 - Day one. COD4 is my most played game. I have humongous expectations for the trend setters of the industries most popular genre.

Tony Hawk 10 - Always loved Tony. I bought Project 8 recently for $10 just to check up on the franchise and it was a very underwhelming, mediocre offering. Hopefully a year off will do this franchise good.

Half Life 2: Episode 3 - Still never played Orange Box but I want to buy and beat it this summer. Hopefully this is a game I will want once I'm done with that.

omg... I'm so disappointed right now... I just found out the Dead Rising 2 isn't coming out this year. After me going like a month thinking LP2 and DR2 were coming out this year, then thinking it was just DR2, now neither one. :(

Dead Rising and Lost Planet are my favorite IP's of this gen by far. Sucks so much to know I won't get to play them for an entire year.

I retract my previous statement about 2007>2009>2008, and now rank them as 2007>2008>2009.

My personal anticipation list of retail titles:

inFamous
Modern Warfare 2
Bioshock 2
Uncharted 2
The Saboteur
Alpha Protocol
Katamari Forever
Red Dead Redemption
Max Payne 3
Heavy Rain?
Gran Turismo 5?
God of War 3?

DLC:

Burnout Paradise Cops and Robbers / Big Surf Island!!!
