So what are your essential burger toppings?

like the roots of a beet?

aha, I had to use english -> america translator on googles, but

'beets'

is the burger topping I'm refering too.

Please tell me this absurdly good burger topping isn't being as horribly mishandled in America as the proper word is?!

Never seen it on a burger here. Sorry old bean :P

Just cheese and ketchup.

Wont say no to onions, mustard, avocado, or bacon but they are not essential. I eat burgers every week multiple times a week.

Sautéed onions and mushrooms, picked jalapeños, leaf lettuce, ketchup, yellow mustard, hot sauce, pepperjack, toasted onion roll -> GOAT

Actually, I'll do anything except raw mayonnaise. Fuck that

Remove from bun, turn back into ground beef, add some garlic, salt, pepper, soy sauce, and mix with pasta.

But if I have to keep it in burger form, bacon cheese and mayo with raw onions on the side.

We call it beetroot here in Australia and it is a defacto ingredient in an Australian hamburger.

I'm not sure where the national quirk came from.

Bun, beef, tomato, lettuce, Dijon mustard, any number of cheeses, hopefully cheddar or pepper jack. If you want to get crazy add egg, avocado, hash browns or bacon. Various onions outside of chopped onions are acceptable.

Never include mayo, ketchup, pickles, relish, or arugula. And do not ever put parmesan on my fries.

No one topping is essential. Some that I like (that are not available everywhere) are fried egg and avocado. I will say I'm not a fan of BBQ sauce on a burger.

Toasted garlic bread buns...

The standard is nice (lettuce, tomato, pickle, mayo, ketchup, onion) but there are so many superior burger builds. All depends on the mood I'm in....

A few toppings everyone should try (not together):
-fried egg
-beets
-cucumber
-sauerkraut
-pastrami (so much better than bacon)
-fried basil
-roasted poblano peppers

fries. used to be ketchup, sometimes barbecue (and onion rings, like a BK ranch burger or something.) I've never had cheese on a burger and after nearly 30 years of taking cheeseburgers back (plain does not mean with cheese..) I feel like I'd be betraying myself if I even tried it.
*gets back in spaceship and peels out*

Why ruin a good burger with vile onions?

You would be in hell here. We're the onion fried burger capital here. Literally cook the worlds largest onion fried hamburger every may. I do agree though. I love the taste of onions but hate the texture of them. I have to blend my onions and cook them into things.

Depends on the day.

Lately - Lettuce, Pickles, Mustard.

In the past - Ham, egg, mayo
- Onion rings, pickles, lettuce, BBQ sauce
- Ranch dressing, pickles, cheddar cheese

Bear with me here - there's a burger place in Los Gatos that makes like, I dunno, a Santa Fe or Mexico or whatever burger. Anyway, it's their southwestern burger. It has a grilled poblano on it, and spicy mayo, but what makes it AMAZING is tortilla chips. In some bizarre way they act like bacon, but add an amazing masa/corn taste to the burger.

It's this place, but there's no sign of the burger on the menu. Maybe it's a special..

I think you can have many common peasant toppings like cheese and lettuce, even pepperoni and have a great burger, but bacon, bacon is the topping of kings. There is no burger made worse for bacon, and that cannot be said for any other topping.

Come to think of it, bacon makes pretty much everything better.

Toppings in order of importance:

Cheese
Onions
Mayo
Pickles
Tomato
Lettuce

Sometimes with bacon, sometimes not. Sometimes different sauces, but the above is pretty commonly what I put on a burger.

lettuce, red onion, dill pickle, ketchup or sriacha, mustard, cheese. I like bacon too but usually am too lazy to make some to put on.
