So, what happened to Dead Rising 2?

We had the E-3 pullout (due to "swine flu" ... which seems more and more like a bad excuse)
Gamescom I have searched but seen nothing, certainly no buzz around anything being shown.
Bombcast guys were joking around about it in the latest podcast.

What is going on, where are you my lovely casino zombies?

Nothing at all? It's an early 2010 title and they seem to be focusing on Lost Planet 2 right now. We'll see it eventually.

Dark Void, on the other hand...

Well,
1. when has any company ever been shy about promoting 2010 titles?
2. Since when has a big company like capcom not been able to promote 2 games? You think they couldn't even release a trailer, or a gameplay vid, or a screenshot just because they are "focusing" on lp2? That doesn't make any sense.
3. They came strong pre-e3 with 2 different vids, lots of buzz, and so on. If missing e3 was really about "swine flu", then why didn't the present their E3 stuff at the next conference? Not even a mention.

Doesn't really make sense.

It's lingering deeply in my heart, longing for me te play it.

I bet we're going to see it at TGS. There was an E3 trailer too, btw! Even though...wel, it was not at E3 at all.

I'm almost certain that something is going wrong with this game's development. New developer, new engine (capcom isn't developing this thing in-house)...Gamescom would've been the perfect place to showcase this game, however it was a no show.

Maybe the game is getting a severe face-lift and will blow us all away once it re-surfaces.

not by Capcom internal studios don't mean it will not use MT Framework .

it's still Capcom game , they will/give their engine to Blue Castle ( Dead RisingWii by tose on capcom's RE4 engine ) , it will be stupid and waste of Capcom money ( since they funded the game ) if they let Blue Castle make new engine for the game when MT Framework is here and kicking .

The game is just fine. Just because we haven't heard from it in like 4 months doesn't mean it's in trouble.

The game has always been scheduled for a 2010 release, so no problems there.

Sorry, but DR2 is not using MT Framework. Its running on Blue Castle's proprietary engine.

Dead Rising relied on Capcom's internal MT Framework engine, but Dead Rising 2 uses a completely separate engine developed by Blue Castle. The first installment was capable of drawing 500 zombies at once, but the sequel is able to draw up to 7,000 zombies onscreen at once, all staggering, leering, and drooling in real time. The graphics look promising, with plenty of crisp textures and vibrant colors lighting up the neon-filled town. Although blood pools left behind by your hapless victims looked a bit unrealistic, other effects such as water reflections on asphalt and body dismemberment looked great.

Well given the small amount of the game that I've seen graphically and the huge addition to enemy numbers I'm not too concerned about the lack of Framework.

wooha, that just ridiculous and make no sense at all .

it's like Epic hiring new developer to make Shooter game but on new engine and not UE3 .

the difference is capcom doesn't license out mt framework

Hmm it seems that we shouldn't be worrying about DR2 after all.

When Chris Kramer, Senior Director of Communications at Capcom, was asked when weÂ’d be seeing “Dead Rising 2″ next, he replied with:

“YouÂ’re gonna be seeing ‘Dead Rising 2′ next at Tokyo Game Show. ‘Lost Planet 2′ will have all new stuff at Tokyo Game Show, and also a couple new titles from us, as well as updates of the stuff we showed at E3.”

It is not known what kind of content will be shown as of yet.

We'll be seeing it again at TGS.

Maybe they hit a big milestone just before E3, and that would've been a good chance to show it off.

Now that build is out of date, and Gamescom may have arrived at a bad time in the schedule for them to create a demo, so they've decided to keep quiet until they are ready to show it again.

Did anyone consider that maybe the game's violent subject matter wouldn't of been a nice thing to debut at a German games conference? It's the same reason Darkside isn't actually playable on the GamesCom floor.

They never sold Dead Rising in Germany, so I guess this is why they don't show DR2 at the Gamescom.

Love how people are disregarding the above post. Thanks for the info, fam.

I for one can't wait to get this. I only wish they would finally release the first one for the PS3. Hate me all you want, but I'm a single console owner for various reasons (for the foreseeable future anyway).

well given the evidence you've presented i think it's clear that the only conclusion one could draw is that DR2 has been canceled

yeah, because I clearly said that's the only conclusion. It's impossible that it could be delayed. That's never happened to a single game this gen.

It's rather ridiculous to jump to the conclusion that this game's been canceled just because you haven't heard about it during one convention.

Yeah, I dunno. Problems with new devs, money, new direction?

Anyways, I heard this on the Bombcast and I said to myself...yeah, what happened to that...last time I heard about that game was early spring.

Doesn't really make sense.

1 - When they have a 2009 title they want to promote more?

2 - Because they're focusing on Lost Planet 2? I mean you answered that one yourself.

3 - Because they're Japanese, and those companies do some really weird shit that just doesn't make sense. See also: SEGA, Sony, Namco, etc...
