So what is so bad about the Sly Collection?

The remakes were satisfactory. It's a good bargain, especially at $10. Sly 1 and 2 (yeah I said it) are great, but I still haven't made much progress in 3. It doesn't have clue bottles :(.

I didn't think Sly 2 was too much of a departure..

Sly 3 was very different and I didn't like it as much. Won't say I hated it, though

This. Sly 2 dragged for a few moments, but it was still really good altogether.

Sly 3 however....ugh. That 1st underwater part. *shivers*

I heard some pretty bad things about it, but I just got it for $10, and having never played the series, I want to know if there are any glitches I should look out for.
Nothing really. Sly 1 has some sound issues with sneaking sound effect being constantly on. They're mostly great ports.

The only issue I can rememebr having was the Ms. Ruby fight was terriby buggy. I had to go through half a dozen times because pressing the correct button to dodge wouldn't always be enough to get Sly to dodge.

I found out that if you just tap the next button a whole bunch really fast, it makes the fight way easier.

There was nothing really wrong with the games. Great port with some bugs and things that just seemed lazy (the really poorly compressed cutscenes, bentley's distorted voice, that weird audio pop that the game makes when first loading up).

And sly 1 had so many awful mini games in it too. For every fun platforming level, there was an awful racing game or run over pirhanas.

I am just playing these for the first time ever thanks to the collection.

Only 2/3 way through Sly 1 and the 1-hit kills, boss battles, and non-platforming levels are starting to grate. Currently stuck on the crocodile boss fight and my inputs just do not seem to be registering correctly. Any advice?

Looking forward to 2 and 3 solely for the health bar.

Edit:

Will try.

How isn't Sly 2 a significant departure from Sly 1? The first Sly was a fun run n jump, the second was a bland open world GTA-wannabe.

Don't listen to these naysayers.

I played Sly 1, 2, and most of 3 on the PS2, and I thought they were pretty damn awesome. Play them for yourself, and make up your own opinion about them. Don't let other people's impressions (positive and negative), shape what you think about the games going into them. If you like action/platformers, then you're already on your way.

EDIT: Um, what was so open world about Sly 2? It had hub worlds for each "episode," but the missions themselves took place in "traditional" Sly Cooper levels. Sly 3 was the biggest departure from what I played of it, but I thought it was pretty solid. 1 and 2 are really fun to play.

Are you thinking of Jak II or something? Sly 2 is nothing like GTA and not really open world either. More like hub world(s).

Okay, is it just me or is the Ruby fight SERIOUSLY broken? I cannot beat it. The rhythm is all fucked up.

The only problem I noticed is an inexplicably laggy area late in either Sly 2 or Sly 3. Otherwise it's perfect and all the games are superb.

It's OK, you're just white. So am I, I had problems with it.

If you press the inputs as soon as you've pressed the previous ones and its registered, you'll get through it easily. Pissed me off to no end too.

I enjoyed Sly 1, it was a nice entry to a new series, I also enjoyed Sly 2 as it expanded on its roots and brought new mechanics to the table and had some pretty cool levels.

Sly 3 however I found really boring most of the time and a chore to get through.

Dont try to match the buttons when you are suppose to, just rapidly hit the button you need to fast as they approach and it will register it at the right time and then move into the next one, keep doing it and it makes it pretty easy.

I am just playing Sly1 (Free for Plus Memebrs) and I am blown away. I played Sly 3 some time ago and couldn't get into it, which made me disregard the whole family of games.

I was so wrong. Sly 1 is my favorite Playstation platformer (closely tied to Jak 1). The characters are great, the enemy models are big and funny, it oozes charm and the collectible hints serve a fantastic purpose and makes you want to get them all. I am glad I gave it a chance!

For some reason I suck at rhythm games but the Ruby section, I completed in 3 tries. Do as other posters have said and link your inputs.
