So, what's the final word on Kinect's affect on game performance?

I've been playing my XB1 a lot more lately, what with the strong holiday line up and all, and I've actually been contemplating getting Kinect for the voice stuff. That said, I'm not ready to sacrifice framerate or anything else performance related to do so.

Was there a final conclusion made on the impact Kinect has on system or game performance? Was Microsoft's statement about the extra power allocated when removing Kinect just marketing speak?

Uhh, that's completely not how it works, don't worry.

The Kinect obviously requires some time to compute its stuff, but beginning with one system update, devs can turn the Kinect reserve way down, just to process sounds. This has nothing to do with Kinect being connected or not whatsoever (except games using Kinect won't work without either Kinect or the reserve, and games released after this that don't use Kinect are probably all turning it off because why not).

I think it's just that devs can opt out of Kinect so it won't be able to do certain stuff, which is no issue if the game doesn't need/support it anyway, which frees up some resources. So whether or not you have it connected shouldnt matter as it varies per game or something I heard.
