There are claims for some based on the wiki. Supposedly she does do a lot of writing though, including some songs that were given to other performers.

She used to be a pretty bad live singer early in her career. Go search for any Sk8er Boi performance from when she came out and you wont be able to go fully through it.

She has come a long way though. She quite good now, there are some accoustic sessions from the recent album which are very good. And she's always been quite pretty if you ask me.

Her latest music sucks though, I really like her first two albums.

I go to a modern day college campus. I see maybe 1 or 2 girls a week that look better than Avril.

There's a girl in my American English Lit class that looks EXACTLY like Avril. I'm not fucking kidding, they look the same. I sit behind her and mouth-breathe.

I agree; the improvement has been pretty damn dramatic. I think that's why I had written her off initially, and was surprised when I saw the concert.

The only bad thing is it seems like she’s a bit more restrained in order to get that accuracy. Some of her previous performances were notably more energetic and passionate. Then again, I’m basing this on what I saw from the concert on TV, and what little I remember from long ago. Since it was being filmed for a DVD, maybe she was doing it on purpose? I have no idea what her normal concerts are like. The accuracy versus emotion, etc. thing is an issue with practically every singer. Obviously running around like crazy and letting it all hang out vocally generally means accuracy takes a hit.

That's why I really love going to concerts, and finding bootlegs. While concert DVD's are still awesome, they generally are a bit lacking on a certain level. A bit more restrained, little in the way of jamming, etc. The problem is finding bands that can balance everything, without taking too much of a hit in terms of accuracy. You don't want things too restrained, but you also don't want it to be a mess. Of course, then there are those bands that just suck live no matter what :lol
