So where the hell is Sucker Punch's new IP?

I love the infamous series so I can't wait for their new game. I was so sure it'll be at E3 but we know how that turned out. PSX is my next guess so we'll see.

For what it's worth, I got the platinum trophy in Infamous Second Son over three years ago when it released. I think it's time to show something. Don't forget, they revealed Last of Us Part 2 like seven months after Uncharted 4 released. If they were ready to show Neil's follow up game seven months after wrapping up his first major PS4 title, then Suckerpunch still remaining quiet after three years of nothing is a little concerning.

It's impossible to say whether it's time to show something without knowing what they are showing, what kind of game it is, how far into development it is, how far away from completion it is, ect.

The last of us 2 is also a sequel and not a new ip that was said to be early but they announced it anyway. Shu was playing Sp game back in 2015 and again this year. Safe to say in my mind it's a new ip. Which if we look at how long it too GG with horizon this doesn't seem bad at all

Second Son came out in 2014 it's been a little over 3 years. Why are you making it seem like it's been longer than that lol. What is there to be concerned about? Game development takes time.
The length of development doesn't always determine the quality of the final product. Shu has also said that he's played it and knowing Sony has atleast 3 gaming events with new reveals every year I think it is completely fine to save it for a later event.

GG last PS4 game and SP last PS4 game released three months apart. GG released their follow up new IP PS4 game over four months ago and SP's new IP game hasn't even been revealed. I know it's not comparable situations because SP only has one team right? But you'd imagine a lot of the planning and writing was going on for a new IP as Second Son was wrapping up, just like how HZD had some concept work done as shadowfall was being developed.

Horizon came out 4 years after kz , it takes sp what an extra yr after that I see no cause for concern at all
 
By March of next year, it will be 4 years since SS. Over 4 years of development isn't unheard of. Maybe they are making something big or doing some experiments? Makes me curious about what it is.

Horizon came out 3 years and 3 months after KZ. I'm not insinuating there is an issue with SP's new game. Heck they're probably holding on to it because they need something later after Days Gone and GoW. I'd love to see an E3 reveal and a fall release ala Fallout 4. But, if it takes them another year to reveal it and we follow the typical Sony two year hype cycle then I'll be pretty upset.
 
At this rate, E3 2018 reveal, E3 2019 follow up with an early 2020 date.

PSX would be nice, but there's no point in setting that expectation.

I mean, not a launch launch title, but I could easily see it launching (through backwards compat + upgrades) with the PS5 Fall 2019. No way it releases before Fall 2019, at this point, so it's either that or a cross gen Early 2020 title, imo.

I like LA more than I thought I would. I prefer the sun to Seattle's rain any day. Spending all day on a computer and then stepping out into Seattle rain can be soul crushing.

Bay Area is the best though...

Last of Us was revealed too early. Same with Death Stranding. After all last year's reveals, Sony might be trying to keep a tighter reveal to release schedule for the last few games this gen.

I am very curious as to why the hell Sony even revealed TLoU2 when Naugty Dog already had a new uncharted coming soon and they didn't really even need it considering they already had a few huge hitters in the pipeline (still yet to be released).

For a bit there I'd say Sony is going a little too far with the early reveals. I mean, when they revealed TLoU2, they already had the following games revealed and still not released: God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Gravity Rush 2, Gran Turismo, Days Gone, Spider Man, Detroit, Dreams, Death Stranding and (if we count the games announced at the same PSX that were revealed) Uncharted Lost Legacy and Knack 2.

I'm starting to think Sony is still addicted to selling people on the future of PS4 as opposed to what is here now, which is actually damn good.
 
I'm willing to bet Sony will now reveal any new first party I.P.s at PSX from now on. E3 can have the gameplay/third party reveals. Then again Shadow of the Colossus remake would have been better as a PSX reveal...

1. It showed the importance of PSX to them
2. It produces emotional responses from fans
3. It gets more people excited to buy a PS4

You really think Death Stranding will come out before their new IP? Or even TLOU2?
 
It better not be realistic looking game. After R&C success and Crash Trilogy HUGE success, I want them to make an AAA Sly Cooper game.

This has been in development since 2014, those success hadn't happened yet. They also built a motion capture studio two years ago, so I doubt a humanoid isn't the protagonist.

If there's another Sly Cooper, it won't be from Sucker Punch. Ratchet and Crash's success won't have any effect on studios that have moved on from those types of games (ND and SP).

Well when they said "next gen launch title" I assumed the implication was native next gen, aka not cross gen but maybe not.
 
I just rotate thinking it's a lock for the next E3/Psx depending on what's closer lol.

Looking forward to whenever they reveal it, I enjoy their games a lot.
