So where's Gaborn? (RIP Gaborn)

I was here when this thread was still innocent. I figured people were just being stalkery. I did not expect this would be the outcome. RIP.

Never talked to the guy on a one on one basis but I appreciated the content he provided to this community. His posts were always thought provoking if nothing else.

I was unaware of his health issues; perhaps it explains his compulsion to ensure people are thinking about the problems in the world.

What I liked about Gaborn wa he'd PM you if he felt something important in a discussion was lost in a busy thread. He really cared about his communication here and I respected that.

Holy shit. I totally didn't expect this. He was one of the only GAFfers whose nickname I remembere/recognized so it comes off as a shock to me. RIP.
 
I've lurked on this forum for a while, and although I haven't even been here that long or even directly interacted with Scorcho or Gaborn much, they were always two of my favourite posters, for many different reasons. Funny, articulate, annoying (in a good, well-mannered way), intelligent, and even through the veil of an anonymous Internet site, it was easy to see that they were thoroughly decent people. RIP Gaborn and Scorcho, you will be missed.

I don't know how old he was, but I'm assuming he was too young. After my Dad had a recent heart attack, and seeing two young men go before their time on NeoGAF, it's really made me reevaluate my priorities in life.

NeoGAF will continue to grow and evolve, but a part of it has been lost forever.

RIP Gaborn.
 
Gaborn was a great contributor to the forum and a great person as well. He will be missed. It's been really depressing to see so many GAFfers pass in such a short time period.
 
i just remembered that i recently talked to someone in real life about his priapism story. gaf bleeds into my day to day more than i realize.

I feel awful about this news and I didn't even know him personally.
 
I always thought of him as the "sad news guy" but going through his threads shows that a large part of his threads were about interesting scientific discoveries, medical triumphs and some light humorous stories mixed in.

It's so sad to read this. Never really exchanged posts directly with Gaborn, but I always read his threads and posts in OT. The guy always tried to enlighten others on various subjects like nature (species, animals, etc) and news in general so I'm gonna miss his posts and threads because Gaborn was a huge part of OT for me.

Rest in peace.

God. So much for signing on to GAF to stop crying and thinking about my Grandma on her deathbed.

RIP Gaborn. Your erection post was the first I remember staying up all night reading updates from. You always held a special place in my heart because of it.
 
Fucking hell :(

A lot of the threads Gaborn created were depressing, but losing Gaborn is more depressing than all of them combined. RIP Gaborn, my fellow libertarian friend.
 
I've been mostly a lurker in this forum and never talked to Gaborn one on one, but the guy was one of my favorite posters. Sad to hear this.

Wow. I haven't been a gaffer for that long but I found myself in a lot of Gaborn threads. I saw him as a sort of elder Gaffer. He'll be really missed. RIP Gaborn. :(
 
RIP Gaborn. I always thought he was trolling in the politics forum, but I respected him as a smart debater and a great poster.
 
being a parent, I can't imagine what his parents are going through. During my field training I had to tell family about love ones death, telling parent about there kids passing was always the worst, many mentally never recovered.

I really hope the parents see as something positive when they were only suppose to spend 5 years with him, yet he fought out 27.

my thoughts are with your parents.
 
wow this comes as a shock.

Makes me wonder how many other gaffers who vanished may in fact be dead, and we don't even know :(
