I only buy one system...it has some great games, but actually I dont really need two systems, since I should be doing other stuff.

Truthfully? I prefer to pay more for higher quality in my consumer electronics. I've owned both systems by the way; 360 came and went before the PS3 launched. 90% of the titles I care about this gen are multiplatform or God of War 3; and I'm pretty much set with whatever hardware I deem superior as long as it'll play RE5 and DMC4. Factor in free online and a Blu-ray player, and the reason some gamers would choose a PS3 over a 360 should be pretty obvious.

I haven't. I was not interested in the original xbox, 2 games interested me: Ninja Gaiden and Panzer Dragoon Orta, and I am not interested in the 360 either. First Person Shooters are not my thing, that is why I do console gaming instead of PC gaming.

No games that really have that appeal to me really. Halo, PGR, Forza, Gears, they're all not that great IMHO. I know I'm going against the general consent here, but that's how I feel.
I got a PS3 for 4 reasons: Ratchet & Clank, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted and Metal Gear Solid 4. Heavenly Sword was kind of a let-down, but the showing of Killzone 2 made up for that (kinda, still not convinced on the gameplay of that title, since Guerilla has yet to put out a decent game gameplay wise).
I am planning on getting a 360 though, once their hardware failure-rating goes down, and the HDMI-premiums start hitting storeshelves, and they get some games out there that I want to play. Fable 2 has got my attention.

To tell you how cheap I am, I wait 6 to 8 months after the release of a game to pick up the used game off Amazon.com or some similar place where it's marked down 20$ or more... I still only own a few Wii games because of this. Metroid Prime 3 June 2008 for me baby!

- Hardware reliability, I want to see a redesign that has tangible differences (maybe make it a bit smaller), mainly so I know I am getting the latest version and don't end up with a dud that has been on the shop shelf for a year. I would also have to wait for a year after that release to know that it doesn't have reliability issues.
- Most games I want to play that aren't on PS3 will one day appear on the PC (Gears of War, Halo 3).
- Live Gold isn't free
- I don't particularly like Microsoft as a company, they come across as arrogant bullies bent on world domination, same reason I don't use Windows. To be fair the games division try their hardest to distance themselves from this. If the same product was on the market from someone like Sega, I might have bought it and given them a chance. I will probably get slated on here for saying that but I think a lot of Europeans feel that way.

2) The "real" system costs too much (that is, more than $200 -- and yes, the Wii costs too much too, but it comes with a game so I ignored that).
3) It has an enforced $50 per year membership fee for the online gaming stuff.
4) No Mario / Zelda / Metroid / Smash Bros.
#4 is my strongest reason, followed closely by #2, then #1 and #3.
(If anyone dares call this a "troll", please note that I'm merely trying to honestly answer the question posed by the thread title... namely, why I don't have a 360.)

my philosophy has always been to buy a console when it has at least 6 games that i really really want to play, and just cant miss out on. with the exception of gears of war, there isnt a single game on the console that would make me go and buy it. and looking at its 2008 lineup, looks like it will probably never happen.
oh and i really really dont want to pay money to play online.

I don't have a 360 because I don't have any money, I don't have any money because I don't have a job, I don't have a job because I'm lazy. I pulled off 2 all nighters because I have an interview in a few hours. Hope I get hired so I can finally pick one of the red ringers up.

Already own a PS3 with a few games that are way enough considering the few hours a week I can spend to play video games. And I still have a big PS2 backlog :/ (about 15 games, one would say it's not that much but most of them are RPG so...)

I agree. Its still too noisy and I don't play games online. The library is great right now, but I don't like FPS or FPS online so no rush. The unreliability is still a major factor with me. RROD and mailing stuff back is a waste of my time/money.SpoonyBard said:
What I want is the slimmer/quieter version that they will release in 3-4 years wether that be an Xthreesixty slim version or an Xbox3. The good games will still be there and the price will most certainly have dropped for hardware and software. And unless the next-get consoles have 2160p120fps enabled and 2160p120fps TV's are cheap I don't think I'll notice the difference at all.

But the biggest reasons is that
- Dual Analogue controls totally suck for gaming, come on guys they really really do!

I already have a decent PC. The only game out right now that i like that I can't get or PC is... Dead Rising. Not reason enough to buy a $350 machine.

I can normally afford only one console per generation, but lets say I can afford two. Who knows, my dad likes the Xbox brand.
The things that stop me right now from buying the Pro/Elite is price and reliability. I buy consoles at 200 or less, and Wii came with WiiSports, so that was ok. Pro and Elite have a ways to go before reaching that.
Not only that, but they have to be reliable. Nothing is more embarrassing than having friends over to have a good time with your stuff and have that stuff not work or, worse, break. I tend to play with others a lot, either on or offline, so this is pretty big for me.
So, like tons of people, price and reliability. The second part is being fixed, and buy the time I may be able to get a 360, that'll no longer be an issue. The question is, when will it hit 200-150?

The only answer is because of people like Jonnyram. Kidding aside, for me it's because I'm playing PS2 games mostly and the upscaling sealed the deal for a discounted PS3. Other than that, there's the hardware. It keeps changing like days of the week and it's really absurd that you may get a cheapo version of it that is loud, and pre-broken. Also the library.. I know it isn't just shooters but the whole system just encourages more of them and considering I only like a few of them, I'd rather support another system now. Not to say I will never get one, just some walls have to come down and Microsoft has to stop cutting corners and not nickel and dime people. I was a big fan of Nintendo until their latest system where they cut the biggest corner I have ever seen..
I really don't have many opinions on corporations but their latest offering was not something I was hoping for...but hey, sales charts and graphs! My last superficial problems are not being region free and the atomic green, oh god why?
