So who's getting a Vita during the launch window?

6 months ago I would have bought it. Now I can wait. Will probably get it this holiday. (Maybe earlier depending on new game announcements during the year.)

Day one for me with Uncharted, Wipeout and Escape Plan surely, soon afterwards Gravity Rush USA retail

I like Vita very much, much more than 3DS I already have, and I'm interested in a lot of launch games, much more than 3DS announced games. For what I see Sony can be rewarded with day one buy more than Nintendo with 3DS.

I'll wait for the inevitable price cut, the launch games aren't worth spending $250 on day one. When a decent number of games that aren't watered-down PS3 titles are available, I'll reconsider.

No.
Only one game i'm really interested in (Gravity Daze) and too higher a price for that.
Also, i'd end up playing it at home or the like anyway, so no, not for now.

I think I'll hold off for a slim model. The price is iffy at this point and there's no OMG you gotta play this title.

If killzone vita delivers, maybe I'll bite

Got fooled by the hype of the 3DS. Bought it on day 1. Sold it within a week. Thought I learnt my lesson but apparently not, Vita pre-ordered and payed in full.

Stood on line in Akihabara to buy one
and three more to sell on eBay
on launch day. I haven't played anything on it yet because Wipeout 2k48, which was supposed to be a launch title, got delayed. WO is on its way to me right now, so in a week or so it'll be my Vita getting all my on-the-go gaming time!

Bought a 3DS at lauch (and it was a VERY dumb move), will buy a Vita at launch.
I know it's not very clever, but i'm such a whore... i just can't resist.

For sure. Vita way exceeds the standard I've required for previous day one purchases. If Vita were below my standards on that front I doubt I'd ever pick up a system at launch. I think we'll be quite lucky if the next-gen consoles have as good a day-one offering.

In regards to getting the Vita day one despite regretting the 3DS Day 1: I actually think it may be worth it just as an upgrade for your digital PSP games, assuming you have a decent number and/or they aren't unsupported as of yet. Seriously, what benefit DID you get for the 3DS over the DS? At least with the DSi I got a DS with clearer sound and better screens, even if DSiware was half flop, and when it wasn't a flop I ended up not taking it seriously anyway. If I got the 3DS at launch I'd... be able to play games with an analog slide pad? Useful for some honestly, but not THAT useful given most are designed with a D-Pad in mind anyway, not to mention the visual hit. Those looks to be the best of both, a whole new generation AND can make your older games look/play better.

Lots of people waiting on price drops - Sony are historically incredibly stubborn on that front.

I'd say most are waiting on price drops and the rest are waiting on the library to bulk up a bit more. I don't think anyone really expects Sony to pull a Nintendo with a price drop 6 months into a launch though.

I'm not expecting a price drop like it happened with 3DS, the hardware is more expensive, Sony can't afford to cut back so soon and they want to suck the money out of the early adopters and hard core before moving on.

That's why I won't wait 6 months to buy it and I like many of the launch titles already.

Can't afford it at launch. Not so much because it is expensive but because Australia gets ripped off with prices. That plus i want to get an ipad soon and i just transitioned to a new job.

Definitely i would like to get one this year though (and honestly it's probably better to miss the launch period if you can). I'm still waiting before i get my 3DS.

US retailers have the game down for May 29...

this is the worst news. I hope the EU release is a lot earlier, doesnt even have to wait for a retail window after all. Goddam it, was looking forward to Gravity (they shoulda kept the Gravité title name) the most :(

Getting one later in its life span maybe closer to Holiday 2012

Mortal Kombat 9
Street Fighter X Tekken
Marvel Vs Capcom 3

Are the key buying points for me but others games like

Uncharted
Final Fantasy X
Uncharted
Dust 514
Call of Duty
Killzone
Rayman Origins

Are really nice aswell, Playing fighters, working on combos on the move is an awesome factor and id gladly buy a handheld for it.

Since the 3DS came out, I have both learnt my lesson from buying at launch, and have also become an impoverished student.

So no. I shall be sitting on the sidelines, watching all the games be announced and selfishly hoping for a little price drop. (Not saying it isn't worth £220, but once again we have been royally screwed on the exchange rate).

Shame if Gravity Daze gets pushed to May.

The launch lineup is still very strong. Besides the unit I'm going for a 16GB memory card and probably these; Uncharted, Hot Shots Golf, Final Fantasy X, Fifa Football.

So excited.

Preordered a Wifi version last night with Uncharted, Hot Shots Golf, Wipeout, a 32 GB memory card, some screen protectors, and a case. Goodbye bonus check!

with ipad 3 coming out in a few weeks? lol no

Then the iPad 4 comes out...

I'm getting one. The main reason is that I know I eventually would, and can still get a good trade-in price for my 3DS (before it loses even more of its value with a dual stick redesign).

I'll get a Vita, a 32GB card, Super Stardust and possibly Motorstorm RC or Wipeout (all digital). I'll rent Uncharted, but only ever buy digital games.

I am.

Originally I was going to wait it out for a while. I've been interested in the Vita for a long time now, as it looks like an amazing piece of hardware and the launch roster and titles out soon after are strong enough to warrant my interest. I did take issue with the price however, particularly with the compulsory memory card purchase needed, which essentially put me off. Then the Amazon bundle offer came out of nowhere and the whole memory card problem was resolved by...being free! Amazon knocked £10 off the RRP, and with a handy £30 gift certificate waiting to be used since Christmas, the Wi-Fi console and 8GB card came to a grand total of £191. It almost worked out too well.

It feels good now that, with it pre-ordered, I can officially look forward to the likes of Gravity Rush, Golden Abyss, Wipeout 2048, LittleBigPlanet Vita, Escape Plan and whatever else comes out in the forseeable future that catches my eye, without having to fight off the constant temptation of wanting a new piece of kit.
