So...why did the Game Boy Advance only have 2 face buttons?

Sorry, I was being facetious. I don't remember why Nintendo chose two buttons, I remember the mock ups of IGN based around a SNES layout because the belief was it would be based on the console like the Game Boy Colour was twinned with the NES.

Nintendo is just cheap. I remember seeing this awesome fan video about what the Wii would be.

There is no way Nintendo would ever do something like this. I guess we are lucky that Wii got a cooling fan.

Years ago I bought the GBA version of Street Fighter Alpha 3 to play on my DS and was massively disappointed that it only used two buttons and there was no way to make use of the DS' extra buttons.
It was an impressive port but two-button SF is not fun.

Going back from Fusion to Super Metroid was awful. I was like "Why do I have to use those extra buttons!" And I'm serious, at least the aiming was much better in Fusion.

Of course they simplified the missile system for Fusion but iirc they got it right for Zero mission (played that game once it was not mine). So that's one game that I'm glad it was in a handheld with 2 less buttons than the snes.

Do you consider buttons to be moving parts?
I'm sorry if some of you guys though my post demaded witty retorts, but then again maybe they've never had controllers wear out on them.

Buttons can wear out. Analogue stcks/sliders can wear out. The less there are, the less chance of a defective unit.

Kinect style motion controls even on handhelds then. Because they can wear out is a terrible reason for having less control options.

Yeah no shit? Controllers are replaceable but full systems just aren't as convenient. Nintendo doesn't enjoy replacing functioning systems because of a few dead pixels or defective shoulder buttons, but they have to do it.

And you jest about Kinect controls, but 3DS has motion controls and probably face tracking too.
