So, will Sony really show ps4-games at the PS Meeting?

At e3 they will have to show more than games. They have to detail the console, their upcoming line-up, integration with Vita, etc.

They won't show new hardware without at least hinting at what it is capable of through some media.

At least some trailers will be there. Gran Turismo, probably. That's the only franchise (together with motorstorm or Wipeout) they can show without stealing momentum to God of War A or The Last of Us.

i don't get why PS4 announcement should "damage" titles which are coming out soon? Only thing a PS4 announcement could "damage" are PS3 sales till PS4 release. Maybe they are going to counter this with a pricedrop.

They have to show a few games to make sure people and the media have something to talk about. They can't just have a "PS4" on a table and say that it will be released later this year.

They showed off some vita games at the meeting in 2011. I'll be shocked if we don't get a couple of on-stage demos, along with a montage or early stuff.

We'll at least get tech demos and a sizzle reel. You have to give the press more than a list of hardware specs.

... But to answer your thread-topic-question; sure, i think they'll show atleast three different games.

I'd love to see what Guerrilla and Naughty Doga are working on :)

they better.

They won't tho.

They will reveal the system after chaaartz, games we know about, psp (because fuck you), wonderbook 2.0.

Then say see you at e3.

Dudes will be mad. Dudes will troll. 500 server errors. Feet will be shot. Honor will be lost.

but no seriously I hope they do at least have some trailers and reveals tho.

I mean we technically know what the system is and can do.

Be prepared to be shocked then. We'll get tech demos at most. Games will be shown at E3, hopefully accompanied by exclusive megatons.

I assume we'll get some samples near the end, though it's probably in their best interest to keep the PS3 and Vita as their main focus. The real question is whether they'll show a bunch of bullshot trailers again.

I'd be really shocked if we had on-stage demos. No way. Tech demos for sure, small chance of a sizzle reel.

Also, Last Guardian.

they have to show something, sony can't just announce a game system with no games.

I predict they will just show one game, and people will be floored. Something like Killzone gameplay footage. Just the one game as a giant tease of the possibilities to keep us excited for future gaming events.

Why, there was on stage demos of Uncharted for the NGP reveal. They did other stuff too, actively using the machine.

Just my feeling, I could obviously be wrong. Just seems too early to show anything real since we're surely about 10 months away from release. Did they have any real game demos besides Uncharted?

I expect a CoD logo.

I'd be disappointed if they didn't show a CoD logo.

Don't know about Sony, but third parties must be chomping at the bit to show off their next generation games. I would not be surprised if we teasers from big publishers like EA and Ubisoft.

Absolutely yes maybe not reveal their names though, just present gameplay demos like when they announced the NGP.

It would be annoy if it didn't, not because of backlash but it will more prediction talks.

If nothing then we should be heard more in GDC one month after that.

Probably tech demos and a couple of teaser trailers.

People won't stop buying PS3 games because there's a new console out in 10 months. :lol

Yoshida was palying Hot Shots Golf, Uncharted and Little deviants on stage.

They showed footage of Hot Shots, Gravity Rush, Uncharted, Wipeout, Killzone, Pool, Reality Fighters, Smart As, Little Big Planet, Broken (No idea what this is), Little Deviants, Resistance,

Kojima showed a demo of MGS4 running on it, Epic showed Unreal 3 running.

A bunch of thatnfo was grabbed from the Eurogamer live stream from that night so I might have missed bits or they might have said bits wrong.

EDIT: Here is the initial video they showed for the Vita reveal in 2011. I've marked the link where the games start.

I doubt it. We'll probably have the same sort of bullshit that we had during Sony's 2006 E3 - theoretical performance figures, bullshots, FMVs and the odd lie here and there lol.

We may see some in engine trailers or a quick montage but I doubt we'll see a gameplay demo or anything. Thankfully it's not a year and a half before launch so we probably won't get total BS CG

Of course they'll show games considering that games are needed to showcase the controller new features which will be the most important things to create hype around the product.
They're inviting even the general press to the event, they definetly don't want people to report 'it's the usual Playstation with better graphics', they need innovations and new important services.

Showing the hardware and no games makes no sense.

They did do it once before, sort of. PS2's announcement had some tech demos, and then more game-y tech demos, but technically no real game announcements IIRC. That announcement was 12 months prior to launch though...PS4's will probably be 9 months or so before.

I do think they're going to show games, for PS4. I have a feeling they've been sitting on things for quite a while now.

GAF seems really cautious with Sony these days. First they say Vita won't have backwards compatability with digital PSP games, then they say Vita will be $300 minimum, then they say don't expect more than 2GB next gen. Now people are saying they won't show games where they have invited press, investors and for the first time have their PS Meeting in the US as well as Sony showing quite a few games for their last meeting for Vita, yet people still believe they will only show tech demos and logos at the most.

They don't need to show PS4 titles yet, they still have upcoming blockbusters to sell on their existing system.

Tech demos (another rubber duck video please) with a subtle mention of studios working on titles would be more than enough this early on.

I think showing PS4 titles this early on would be detrimental actually.

Detrimental to what? This isn't going to affect current gen systems. They'll show games because you want to build hype and try and continue to keep the anti-hype with Wii U strong. That's the incentive to showing before E3. You've got a competitor's system you want to damage.

If they show something I hope it won't be target render or CGI trailers.

whatever they show, i won't trust it.. until i actually see them running on my PS4.

got burnt badly in 2005 with the Motorstorm and Afrika trailers especially :/ never trusting anyone's target renders ever again.

They have to show some games. They'll want to build momentum rolling into E3 and just being like, "here is the hardware and a tech demo" isn't going to excite many people. They can't afford to have a PS3 esque E3, where there weren't lines to play their games. I was there that year and literally just walked station to station to play the PS3 games on display. In contrast, I waited in line two hours to play the Wii and that was the first thing I went to do that morning.

They really don't want to start a "PS4 has no games" meme before it even launches. The biggest complaint about their recently released Vita is lack of software. They need to show some now, and more at E3.

Of course this means they probably won't.

It would be an own goal if they didn't show any games. However, I do expect them to only show either trailers or in-game footage, no live playable footage.

What I think will mostly be shown will be features like social networking, PSN & media partnerships etc but the majority of games will only get a bleak reference, to been shown at a later time when Sony thinks they can piss on Microsoft's parade.

Start with little Ps3 talk
Continue with 1 or 2 vita news
Conclude with PS4 announcement that includes the retail box look, the controller, publisher list, teaser from 1-3 first party titles and then a couple of new third party titles that includes (Kojima's new game)

Sony at E3 2005 was one of the ballsiest and most successful FUD/smoke and mirrors operations the gaming industry has ever seen.
