So, will Sony really show ps4-games at the PS Meeting?

Hopefully they will show what's being launched. We don't need a look into next year. Wait until next year for that.

Sony also needs to make sure they meet their release dates this gen. So many set backs this gen and it wasn't funny.

They'll want to save the big guns and announcements for E3 imo. This will be a teaser reveal.

I don't understand this.

They showed Uncharted Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, Little Big Planet and Wipeout at the Vita reveal.

Those were it's big guns and they were ALL seen day one.

They'll show the Killzone 2 Target render,

and then they'll make it playable!

They'll show the Motorstorm Target render..

and make it PLAYABLE!

In all seriousness, I kind of expect this.

They'd show something awesome looking, then just have a person walk on stage with a controller. Nothing said about "Look what we are able to achieve", just showing people what seems impossible, then disproving that idea with a demo.

They've had the time, and they've picked the day. I'd expect Sony to have planned how to wow.

I expect them to show Agnis philosophy for that.

Maybe they will show Pong running at 4k or at 240hz?

I guess the question is, will they show the casing or the controller?

they showed actual games for move and vita at their reveals.... no?

after ps3 if they pre render anything then they deserve the response.

So, will Sony really show ps4-games at the PS Meeting?

They must come up with something impressive to show, even if they save some games for E3 or a date even closer to release.

But more importantly:
Will we get to know official and final specifications?
Will they announce the release date or at least a narrow release window?
Will they announce the price?

Of course they will show games. The days of two year hype trains for consoles are over. You cannot hold a conference just showing the system when it is expected to be released in nine months.

To be fair, 360 games weren't shown until six months prior to launch, and that came only two months after MS provided any official confirmation of the platform's existence.

That said, most indications are that PS4/Durango development is in a considerably more advanced stage than PS3/360 development was in 2005, so I wouldn't expect a redux of that, especially with this amount of hype behind the Feb. 20 event.

This. I believe they won't show any games just yet.

That would be a huge mistake on their part. They've got a lot of hype built up for this thing, and people are expecting to see games. That doesn't mean that they have to roll out everything that they have, but they have to show something.

I see them only showing one game, if any at all. It won't be GT6 either, E3 makes more sense.
Nah, they'll definitely show one game to 'wow' us, like they did with Vita. And I bet it will be from a popular franchise as well. It'll end up being the Golden Abyss of PS4.

There's no reason to show target renders. Games have probably been in development for this thing for at least 2 years already.

Another factor that has to be considered is Microsoft's unveiling of Durango.

Sony doesn't want to reveal too little and then let Microsoft come later and make everyone forget their reveal.

I suspect it will have a similar format then the NGP event.

Mostly about hardware and services but it will have a few more games as well.

I will guess they will just have games that showcase the new control and camera and a giant megaton sequel or exclusive 3rd party deal to grab attention.

The real games blowout will happen at E3 but they will show a few things to get use excited at this event to get peoples attention.

Next thread made at GAF: "So do you really really think PS4 will be shown Feb 20th" "Also what do you predict now?"

I think they'll be aiming to whet people's appetites for a full reveal of Orbis at E3 and be spending a lot of time pushing the big spring titles for PS3/Vita.

Logically they won't want to overshadow the big first-party titles we know are releasing in the first half of the year, so I'd guess a sizzle-reel montage to close the show is all we should realistically expect.

It doesn't have to be a popular franchise. I reckon that game will be Guerilla Games new IP. The FPS game that takes place in a fantasy setting, I can imagine a game like that would have incredible visuals and would be a great game to feature a live demo of. Also it would give the new IP the limelight it needs.

Good point. So we've got SSM, Guerilla, and Naughty Dog working on PS4 titles? The hype: it consumes me.

I hope its a good conference and we do see some games. Anything is better than the PS3 conference. It was ridiculous due to the tech demos (lol killzone). The games they did show, were really lack luster( the giant crab, card game, ridge racer) Conferences have never been Sony's strong point, although they have gotten better in the last few years. I'm really rooting for them though.

I don't understand why people are questioning the possibility of games being shown. You only have to look at their most recent Playstation Meeting and that gives a very good indication of what to expect. I reckon 3 or 4 playable demos will be there on stage from a mixture of first and third party. I also think there will still be some target/tech demos (I know people hate those, but for some reason they seem to be inevitable), at least they might be a bit more tempered this time around. A rehash of the Agnis demo would be a good showing running on the hardware.

Despite yosp insisting The Last Guardian is for the PS3, I would very much like to see this game move to PS4. No doubt it's an expensive thing to do if it happened very late in development but the next gen transition could explain the delays.

I would say the same about Versus except I find SE to be too incompetent nowadays. To me, it's going to be a very late PS3 game.
