Was playing earlier and got about 3 random suicides. Has this happened to anyone else?
Yup. Seems to be more prevalent when I'm playing with Euro's.

I see people suicide pretty often, someone normally throws a grenade by accident or on purpose @ spawn location and oopsy daisy

The grenade throwing in this game is weird as fuck. You'd think your crosshair would be where the peak of the throwing arc is...but it's not.

Servers seem to be down again

Yes. While walking up stairs. While walking down stairs. While simply walking. Its happened several times now.

Ok, glad I'm not the only one. The first time I know I threw a nade but I actually saw it hit yet died. The last two I was just running and would die, so weird. Might be server stress.

I haven't noticed playing with any Euros to my knowledge. The people with mics on usually sound like they are from the east coast

I don't really like Sniper Alley, Uplink Rush is kinda cool, but I don't like being forced to use a set equipment on joining. *shrug*

I rather have more Bomb Squad. :lol

i thought i was alone with the weird deaths. my character is running for cover and dies apparently from a heart attack. has happened twice.

Level 100 should be the yellow rain coat.

Heh, I remember that. Everyone wanted the dark clothed colored characters, I wanted the yellow slicker lol.

I'll probably try to jump on here for a little while if the servers are up, but I believe my least favorite modes are up and running tonight. Sorry GAF, but I only wanna play bomb squad in clan matches when I absolutely have to.

If you think this game look like it doesn't have AA something must be seriously wrong with your TV. Reduce sharpness. This is one of the most clean games on the market.

Agreed...
I was surprised how good this game actually looks and I do not see a single jaggy.
The lighting and shadowing is some of the best work I have seen on consoles.
I guess the network of developers is paying off because Zipper is not known for cutting edge visuals.

I guess my display could be helping because im playing on a Sony HX909 with full RGB enabled and games look amazing on this display.

Me and UFRA were playing some respawn bomb squad, we had the top 2 scores every single round. lol

So fun. Good times. :D

I was starting to not like the game the last couple nights, but tonight I bumped up the sensitivity of both the X and Y axis and suddenly my typical k/d scores went from 8-10 to like 22-7 lol.

Now it feels "right" and I'm addicted.

You need to get on the clan, I sent an invite but it won't go through, I think it's is full. We'll need to clear off some no-shows for more active people.

I have been playing off and on since I got in the beta an d really like it so far. The grenades are confusing at first and I still cannot place a grenade in the correct place at times but it works.

So far I have only experienced one weird bug. I was playing bomb squad on the map with the boat and I was in the warehouse upstairs heading towards the spec ops spawn when I hit X and my guy preceded to backpedal back through the top of the warehouse moving through boxes and walls before hovering outside the building for a second or so before dropping to the ground. No clue really what could have caused the bug but it has only happened once.

Naw, looks absolutely fantastic on my new Panny as well. :)

But yes, while it's not going to set the world ablaze with it's zomg-graphics like U2/GoW3/KZ2 did, it actually is a good looking game, and I mean that. The lighting, shadowing, and smoke look great, animations aren't bad, but it's the quality of the overall package that shocked me the most. It's incredibly clean, lacks jaggies, clearly defined objects/enemies off in the distance, runs without a hitch, it's the perfect situation for having in a shooter.

This is going to be thee competitive shooter to play, and it doesn't hurt that it's so clean and smooth running.

The year of shooter fans indeed; SOCOM for the tactical experience, and BF3 for the arcadish. I'm set!

Agreed. As my first Socom game, I am addicted. Only game I see coming close/topping is BF3. Would love to play some games with the GAF squad.

Quoted for the truth, only ever played socom before on psp ..... which obviously lacked the controls.

Love this game, can't wait for full release.

Zipper deliver again.

I hope weapons either level independently between Standard and Classic, or that co-op allows you to level your weapons. I'd even be fine with Classic having everything unlocked, and Standard is the only mode where the mod leveling applies.

I can't stand playing respawn to do it, and the trade-off for playing Classic is that you get more experience for your character... which means absolutely nothing.

Turns out that if you aim with the red-dot sight (clicking R3) turns your gun into a laser beam with 0 recoil. Lol
Yeah, it should definitely kick you out of scope if you try firing multiple shots like previous SOCOM games. And the damage done, regardless of distance, isn't sacrificed in the slightest. (Not that it matters because most ADS fights will end in a headshot)

I still use it because I'm not going to intentionally handicap myself just because I disagree with it, but it's unbalanced (maybe 'too easy' is a better description than unbalanced) across multiple gun types.

Hey.. I haven't been following the thread, but.. What's the deal with the black screen before EVERY respawn? It really pisses me of having to sit 2 seconds in that all black screen before being able to play again. :(

They mentioned in the latest podcast it had something to do with where you are in respect to the spawn points since the game makes use of an aggressive streaming technique, so the further you are from the spawn points, the longer the reload because it has to redraw more than if you are closer to the spawn. I hope that made sense.

Basically. If it wasn't for the high scope (mod 3), the sniper rifles--considering they're not one shot one kill 100% of the time--would be completely useless.

Once you unlock the ACOG scope on the ACR or M4, they are more than capable of competing at long range with any weapon in the beta. I would also argue that the sight on the ACOG makes it easier to snipe than the huge yellow crosshair on the sniper rifles.

did they mention in the podcast if they plan on pulling the camera back a bit?

They are, but didn't really go into detail about how far or how exactly it's going to be implemented. It was more of a (and I'm paraphrasing here) "it's not a simple fix" and that moving it back creates other problems that they have to deal with, like the foliage that obstructs your view on A&B.

They talked a lot about the feedback that people have been giving on the beta, but gave no real answers on if any of it was going to happen. It's only being "considered" right now - which sounded like a not gonna happen, without saying it.

Luisi also mentioned that their party system is currently a work in progress. He didn't seem too confident that it would make launch to be honest. That would be such a huge fail if that didn't happen......

Yes. They said they like the current camera because they are used to it but admittedly said it wasn't ideal for the broader audience.

The sniper rifles are perfectly usable with the standard scope, has not hindered me in anyway.

Funny thing is I'm terrible when aiming down the sights. Vastly prefer over the shoulder for more accuracy.

I think down the sights is pretty stupid. They should can it all together. I mean, it's a third person game. When you hold L1, shouldn't that be down the sights for the character?

Useable, yes. But in my opinion, the ACOG sight is much better. And like I said, with the pinpoint accuracy the autos have while in the ADS, they're almost a better long range option.

With a third person shooter, the idea is that your character is always "looking down sight", so you're right - it shouldn't be necessary.

However, when you have FPS selling tens of millions of copies annually, they have to try and appeal to that audience in some way. I think ADS is their attempt to do that. Why they have to lower the standard accuracy though is anyone's guess.

This here, this would be such a massive fail if they didn't get the party system in day one. This is a feature that should be worked on DAY ONE in this day and age. I'm not exactly sure why they overlooked such a thing. I mean, it was in S3 even. There's very little to rag on the game about, from both a vet view, and especially as a "newbie" aka journalist review. But the lack of a party system would be a failure of epic proportions, and can be crippling to "social experience" for new players to the series. Hell, even I don't like that it's not in there. It's something that every single MP online game should have.

Then they shouldn't make the R3 sight more accurate than holding L1--they should be completely the same and should only be used based on preference. It just doesn't seem right having R3 be more accurate than L1.

So let me get this right, both camera fix and party system are "looked into" rather than "definitely coming"? I was under the impression it was the latter. :/

That's what I got from that. The camera would behave like the older SOCOMs then from which it came and you would get blocked views at times due to it. So I don't know, it's going to get heat either way, but this is a problem that's inherent to basically all 3rd person views.

The party system I too thought would be in day one. This is an epic oversight on their part. In fact, I'm utterly shocked about this, especially coming from Zipper. I mean, MAG had it going for it, hell, S3 had it...

lol wut? S3 had a party system? That is news to me.

If they don't fix the camera I am definitely not going to buy this game. The camera gives me motion sickness, but it is also pure shit. Sometimes I wonder what devs are thinking of when they make mistakes like this. Who thought that putting the camera this close was a good idea.

Probably to show off their new higher poly player models....and to make it more like an FPS.
