Namco Bandai trademarked the title Solatorobo: Red the Hunter which makes a release pretty likely.

Siliconera also asked Namco Bandai USA:

I asked Makoto Iwai, Bandai Label President, about a North American release and he replied with, "I don’t think we have a plan to bring that title here, but we are always in talks with CyberConnect2 for future projects."

So maybe bad news for the US, but you guys can still import.

Nope. DSi-enhanced games are usually region locked..... for the DSi. Sucks for DSi owners, but it doesn't affect DS owners at all.

Okay, that's right. I knew that the enhanced games should be playable on any DS, I just forgot about the extra step of them being locked on DSis however.

nobody gave a shit beause the game is a niche game full of furries in a year when DS died, and more important, there was no sign of it coming to the west except from that french expo that didn't mean almost nothing

Held on to my DS Lite for a reason, I love the 3DS and liked my DSi (until it's shoulder buttons stopped working) but region locking is the single dumbest thing they added to those systems.

It sure would be nice if this got a release outside of Japan. Even if it doesn't, I have my Japanese copy sitting here waiting for me to, uh, learn Japanese. It really does look amazing; CyberConnect2 deserves to make more titles like these instead of Naruto stuff all the time.

It's games like Solatorobo that make me reluctant to upgrade to a 3DS. I'm really disappointed that Nintendo decided to go the region-locked route with their handhelds after the DS Lite. If they can't even be bothered to localize their own titles, let alone third parties such as Namco, they shouldn't stop those of us who want to pay for importing a copy.

Let's be clear; ASH was fully translated and internally tested / went through cert at NoA. It was also submitted to the ESRB and given a rating. It obviously isn't going to be released, but it's also an incredibly unusual case in terms of what counts as evidence and what doesn't.

Well, this is technically equally unusual. Before the release in Japan, it already had a rating in Australia, it had a fully localized French demo playable at an event in Paris. The Japan release came and went without any sort of announcement whatsoever outside of Japan, and we even had the president of Namco Bandai USA specifically say that the title was not planned for release in the US.

Clearly at some point there was some sort of intention to release it. We have no idea if that plan still exists.

I read every single one of those threads, even posted in a few of them I believe. Aside from from what I think was the original one where everyone initially talked about how they were put off by the character designs (and ironically the individual your referring to commenting how he/she was put off by the fact that at some point in the game your character apparently becomes human) the rest were quite positive. There really wasn't much to discuss however as everyone was doubtful it would ever get localized.

The release came, people who imported and could read Japanese posted positive impressions on the game, and the people who didn't/couldn't once again expressed their interest and doubts of ever seeing it. Your threads may have not seen the popularity they deserved but saying that nobody gave a shit is a big understatement if you ask me.

Only the Japanese copies of BW were region locked.

I definitely still give a fuck about this game, although I did forget about it until I saw this thread. Tail Concerto was a gem on PSone and this game looks just as cool. It's a shame some people can't look at this game normally without thinking about all that dumb fuck furry shit.

I pretty much lost hope on this until today. Since the age ratings and french demo we haven't heard anything about this. But if they trademarked a localized title for the game they must be coming close to making an official announcement! I mean, why else would they suddenly do that? Well, besides doing it just to screw with us!

I have the Japanese version and game is amazing on so many levels. I just wish it could be much more challenging. Like difficulty options when starting a new game would have been nice. I'd import this game again just to play it in a language I'm fluent in.
