No way man, he would've been all "Yo Plywood looking dude hand over da cell" I would've been all "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED" and then yelled really loud "SRI LANKA" and round house kicked the shit out of that dough boy motherfucker he was already scurred now he'd be confused and kicked.

In my mind i think I would fight off a dude with a knife. But I know that's bullshit, so hope i'm smart like Salsashark, and don't grow massive balls over a phone.

Don't ever change.

You should have socked him in the face right when he was in your face threatening you. Seriously, I swear that's what I would have done, before he took out his knife.

Hey man, sorry, ive been in similar situations and the guy just walked away when he saw i wasnt cooperating, this was pretty different and unexpected.

That doesn't even make any sense. ಠ_ಠ
You could have used the upside down question mark (and no spaces).

Im just cooler than that

i dont even know how to type an upside down question mark.

I guess you're a lot more lenient and patient than I am. I don't care what the situation is like, if some dude walks up on me walking down the street and threatens me and wants to rob me, I wouldn't give 2 seconds notice to fucking pop his face. Wouldn't hesitate for a second...

Don't give anyone the benefit of the doubt anymore man. If tries to mug you, they deserve a jab in the face.

There has to be some huge stipulations for this statement to be true.
certainly, there are.

www.m1911.org/folders-r-us/statistics.htm

"6 out of 10 gunshot victims die from sustained injuries 8 out of 10 knife attack victims die from sustained injuries.

[...]

You are 20 % more likely to die from a knife stab than from being shot in the Unites States. I don't want to experience either personally but if you feel you must please shoot me. I'll have a 20 % greater chance of surviving based on the reports submitted by police agencies to the FBI from across the U.S."

Please don't tell me your life experience involves living in a quaint, tranquil neighbourhood.

Because you should care what the situation is like. People that don't tend to die.

So then how would this work if they were armed? Would that pop to the face knock them out or just give you time to run or...?

Yes I am being rational in how to deal with violent situations because I have had to on numerous occasions.

You've been attacked with knives on numerous occasions? Where do you live that this is a regular thing?

Not everyone feels as though their life is all that important. They'll take any risk.

I googled Shinobi602+pics of yourself but came up empty. Which is a shame. I wanted to admire you, because you sound hilarious.

I guess the most important thing is that you are alright. Getting checked out seem like the best option and I assume you already called the police?

Obviously once he recovers, you remain in the same place, but with your arms crossed and your cock hanging out. The smug grin on your face will tell the robber exactly what he has to do next.

Phone robbery averted.

Dome received.

AW YEAH

Not that I do not believe the assertion, but that fucking site is not a source. I would imagine serious knife wounds are more serious because the intent and force behind them. I am almost certain 60% of gunshot victims do not die. I think its closer to 5-10% or some shit.

Tried to. Talked to this doorman who was in a building next to where the whole thing happened but he say he didnt have a phone :/

I came home about an hour later between waiting for the bus and all, it was pretty much pointless at that time.

Damn Salsa you're having a rough 2011. :(

No shiiiiiiiiit

Im waiting for this thing to catch up. I expect the second half of the year to be great or something :/

I would say "Sure, you can have my phone but remember... This phone is being tracked all the time. Is it really worth getting in prison over a phone? Also, you sure you wanna bring a knife to a gunfight?"

Oh and next time I'm in a fight, I'm definitely screaming SRI LANKA!! :lol :lol :lol

You cancel your phone, and all that shit yet?

I've always wondered in situations like this, if just acting like a crazy person right back like a crack fiend, speaking/shouting jibberish would work and scare them off.

Ive had several brandished at me in a threatening manner. Ive only been "attacked" with a knife once and it was a guy who pulled one out as we were already fighting. I guess if you dont have the experience and awareness it seems strange. But for 100% certain when a stranger approaches me at night in an aggressive manner I will instantly look for where his hands are. If they are not visible I am going to prepare for something bad. The instant he talks shit I am going to confront the situation (acting like puss often draws aggression) or leave.

Not trying to front like a tough guy but once you are already being stabbed standing there is just moronic. Not telling him he should "pop him in the face" like the tough guy, haha but you gotta run away.

UGHHHHHHHH motherfucker :(

He had a knife, so what could i do ? at least i got my life and my wallet, between other things.

Whatever, share your "steal" stories, just wanted to vent really. Fuck.

Ugh, knives are scary. I'm sorry. At least it wasn't a laptop or something.

A childhood friend of mine got stabbed seven times two years ago for making fun of some dude carrying a handbag after coming home from a bar. Got stabbed in the neck, chest, stomach and the side of his stomach. Dude is totally fine now. Also, the people in the ambulance said it was probably the massive amounts of alcohol that saved him.

He had another friend with him and managed to yell out to him that he got stabbed after the first hit. When the friend got there he fucked up the knife guy so bad he got minor brain damage. He got off light for fucking the guy up as far as I know.

Holy crap... I will never make fun of man-purses again!!

That sucks Salsa. Someone pulls a knife on me I'm going to comply, no telling whether he is going to be more of a superman than I feel, with the adrenaline pumping, least not worth risking a knife wound over.

Moved from a suburban area to a dodgier area last year, so far I've had 8 incidents of people trying to start stuff, ranging from trying to knock me off my bike by throwing phonebooks to getting sucker punched on the jaw. Thankfully so far each time I've been sober and have been able to outrun or outride the would-be rollers. The one time I've had a knife flashed I gave the guy the $20 I had on me, no cab money for me after that :(, and didn't try anything.

Oh, I don't disagree about the quality of the source either. I simply didn't feel like scrounging around the internet and sifting through data spreadsheets to offer a courtroom-caliber commentary. It's just not that serious.

All I can tell you is that those numbers are similar to numbers I've seen and heard of before...and that the same general concept was explained to me by a police officer during my Concealed Carry Permit (firearm) classes prior to my handgun purchases. It's about the internal injuries a plunged knife can cause. the ripping and tearing that happens during the removal or movement of the knife while it's in.

If you're being stabbed, your chances of survival are not very good. On the bright side, the incidence of stabbings are very low. That's all I know. Take it or leave it.

Yeah, killing a person over a cellphone would be a good idea...
I'm about 100% sure that's not what he meant. Rather, that the ability to defend yourself if necessary is good. This armed person could have hurt or killed the OP and it would have been unlikely he would have been able to stop it.

Nothing wrong with good self-defense/protection, so long as you've been trained properly on how to use it.

I was actually taking out the SIM card and the 4gb micro SD on it but the guy just kept poking me with his knife and i just gave it to him. To be honest he looked scared and i was with a friend and we could possibly beat the hell out of him, but a knife is a knife :/ i have a small wound now that could have been worse.

I hope you disinfected that

I had a fairly similar experience when I was 15-16. A kid of roughly my same age maybe one year older put his arm over my shoulder and was like "Give me your cellphone", at first I refused but then he showed me his knife. That's when I lost my beloved Nokia 3310. ):

Sorry for your loss, it's a shitty experience.

The hell? No, I'm not. I carry concealed anyway, not that I would mind. I work security and am used to people's bullshit. Take them by surprise. Knock them hard enough on their ass and either bolt or call the cops.

How would have the gun helped if the robber would have stabbed OP when he was poking him with his knife? Just giving the cellphone is a much better option than a gun.

Uhhh a stranger approaches you on foot making demands for your property. Pulls out a knife (it wasn't in his hand in the first place) and then gets close enough to poke you? Yeah, what a fool to be armed in that situation!
Don't bring a gun to a knife fight.
