Could anyone explain what this amateur repeater thing is? Just a bunch of randoms broadcasting over a frequency that this site picks up?

I've no idea... first time listening to this. But now I want to see what small-town Alabama's repeater station sounds like.

edit: ok, this is fake. "we tased him too many times. he's dead" yeah, sure.

an amateur radio repeater basically amplifies weak, low-level amateur radio signals and retransmits them at higher power.

Wait, they said they killed him on the police radio?

No, the chase ended without any casualties. Suspect in custody.

Anyone got a ham radio? Just yell WHATS UP GAF and see if it'll pick it up.

EDIT: WTF, Morse code?

The amateur repeater was basically started in the 1970s by people who wanted to use it for legit purposes, like friendly banter and emergencies. It was taken over by some guys who would harass people and others would jam competing repeaters or something.

There's drama. "Within a month of that meeting the local LA FCC office had begun targeting hams breaking the rules -- especially those identified as members of UGR. I still recall being at the ARRL SW Division Banquet in 1980 when the then ARRL Division Director introduced two Federal agents who in turn announced the arrest earlier that day of one of the most blatant violators."

Okay it's picking up again.

Listening to this radio reminds me of watching those public camera things that I found from google searches. Watching toy trains go around in a random room and seeing people walk across a street doing weird stuff at 4 AM never got old.

And did he just say thinking of him and his wife making love gives him a woody?

that's fuckin' jim breuer, man!
