As much as I want to agree with you, Pitbulls are statistically not exceptionally more prone to violence than other dog breeds. And I fucking hate dogs. Not even a single week has passed since the last time a dog bit a child to death.

It's easy to blame the owners, or chalk it up to bad luck when a dog mauls a baby, but the easiest way to make sure you don't contribute to a dog mauling someone is to not get one.

Pits are among the most loving and loyal dogs on the planet. That, along with their physical prowess, is why they can be so dangerous- they'll literally do anything for their owner/family, including fighting to the death. All it takes is one shitty owner to create a bad situation with a Pit.

With that said- love your Pit, treat it well, and there's really nothing to worry about. They're an amazing breed, IMO. It's people that are often the problem.

Damn you for real. Pitbulls are only statistically high because many bad people used them. Pitbulls are one of the most loyal breeds of dogs and can be the sweetest dogs on earth. They are not born to kill. They get trained to do that for their owner. I know many normal people that have a pitbull and I love them way way more than these little dogs that try to tell you to fuck of and even bite you just because.

Pitbulls are BEAUTIFUL dogs and I would love to have one. They are banned here in my city so I won't be getting one anytime soon. There are a lot of really openly prejudiced people against Pitbulls here that get really nosy and try to make your life hell here even if you live just outside the city. The moment you adopt a dog it doesn't really matter the breed you pick up ; you're doing a good gesture anyway. So why choosing a pitbull in particular? It's not like there is a scarcity of stray dogs in need of adoption which forces the adopters to choose pitbulls.

By the way, have you ever heard of chihuahua, dachshund, griffon, spinone etc. killing anyone? Yeah, me neither.

Yeah- you're 100% correct. My wife worked at a Humane Society for several years and worked directly with all the dogs involved in court cases. These were almost always Pits or Rots. She never had a problem with any of them. They were always sweet, behaved well when taken out for walks, etc. Sadly, they were (almost always) just waiting to be put down at the conclusion of their court case. Took a real toll on her over time.

It was the dogs in the regular adoption area that would sometimes give her trouble- especially the little yappers. They can be real shitheads sometimes.

Spinone is not a small dog by any means, wikipedia puts it in the same range of the pitbull. Find me one single article reporting a spinone killing someone. If you want to try with a more common breed one could be the english setter.

Of course you can't, a german shepherd is another notoriously dangerous dog. There is a reason why they're used to protect houses from intruders (something I am totally against to, btw).

My point is that there are many, many breeds who have never, in any circumstance, done harm to anybody, like the ones I mentioned. No matter how they are brought up, dogs like the setter will never do any harm to anyone.

I need no protection and I welcome criticism. My premise merely wanted to alert people that I was going off topic and that I was aware that my discussion had nothing to do with the subject at hand and that my intervention was motivated by my feelings towards this other issue, hence the use of the adjective irrational.
