It's ridiculous we have had to wait so long for Twisted and yet NOE tried to slap cease and decist orders on retailers that import GBA games to the UK. Useless fuckers.

They always have an explanation on why they launch late in Europe.

Truth is that they don't have a global process like EA does, instead they work on adhoc basis. Which is an uncoordinated mess always.

I can buy that but I'm still not seeing why that would take nearly a year.

Why is it that European games have multiple language choices? Why doesnt any American game contain multiple language features if we're supposed to have a wide variety of foreign people?

NOE need to spread the games out a bit in March. Why does every game have to be released on the 31st? :p

North American governments are usually less bitchy about that kind of stuff (except the wonderful quebecois of course)

Ive always wondered why games released at the same time dont have the language options in the US.

I was happy that mario Kart DS offered the game in all the languages supported by the DS menu. More games should do this.

:(

they have sold boats of nintendogs and DS for Christmas...

and they continue to consider Europe as a little market.

that's a shame :(

and where is princess peach....grrrrrrrrrrrrr....i want my princess for january or february !

They're not less bitchy, they are simply close-minded versus the amount of people that speak anything else than english. Multiple languages in a game should be the norm, not the exception.

It's not all about you, you know.

Pheonix Wright: Ace Attorney NDS 31 Mar

hmmm I saw this at Amsterdam airport the other day for 55 euro, I thought to myself 'a little pricey I'll just wait a few weeks it will probably release'

I'm gonna punch myself in the dick now.

We have had to take multi-language options out of our US version of a certain game we did once because our publisher told us it would be too confusing for American consumers.

And here was us thinking having Spanish and French in the US version would be a good thing.

I'm ashamed to admit this is true for me too. :(

Anyone know how the fuck european releases work? since I've been buying them, mainly in holland, I sometimes end up with an english book, sometimes dutch and french and german, sometimes only dutch and french and sometimes 5 languages including english.

It's confusing as hell, their appears to be no standard and it kind of bugs me that the books don't have english, because that is part of my new game ritual. (I mean I could deal if they never had it, but it's like a little lottery everytime a new game drops)

Well its not just Nintendo. I've been waiting for SotC and Dragon quest VIII for what seems like years.

You might as well import DQ8 because it doesn't seem like it's coming out here any more at all. There's no trace of it on Squenix Europe website, and the listing that appeared on a UK retailer's site (Simply Games) has disappeared.

Its coming in March.

At least the official guidebook from Piggyback.

There was a discussion on a UK forum recently where some journalist said that there's going to be some sort of press event in January related to it (something to do with Yuji Hori coming over), so I think it is still coming.

It's up to individual publishers as to how they split up their units. Some of them will save money and have an English manual with a Dutch quickstart manual, some will translate the manual in full (e.g. if it's a major title with a thick manual). It all comes down to cost and how bothered they are really.

Are all tehse titles being published by NOE? They picked up Alien Hominid, Nanostray and all Capcom's DS games?
Yeah, it seems only EA, Ubisoft, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo are allowed to publish games in Europe.

Come on Namco, Square-Enix, Capcom, Tecmo...

Don't forget Atari. :)

Well, none of them have EU distribution networks in place really. Sorta weird, they're all pretty reliant on others to handle the region.

At least SEGA got themselves straightened out.

Only one of those four is a publisher in Europe (Capcom), all the rest just get their games distributed by other companies as they don't have their own distribution networks (this is a nightmare here as you have so many individual countries to deal with).

Namco were rumoured to be becoming a European publisher then the merger with Bandai happened, so it supposedly got put on ice for a while whilst they sort out their operations. It's rumoured that Square Enix will be going the European publisher route in the next year or so, and Tecmo are probably too small (in terms of number of titles released) to warrant becoming one at the moment.

Plus I guess it's less of a financial risk for you if Nintendo publish your game for you...

You can buy it at www.dimplus.nl for 34.99 euro's.

I know they don't have one, that is why I complain.
Isn't European market attractive? Ask Konami about MGS and PES...I think they are quite glad of publishing their games here.

I'm not saying that everyone should have its own branch here, but hell...at least the big ones please.

Its funny to receive Ridge Racer by SCE (PSP), Nintendo (NDS) and EA (X360)... ^^u

It is attractive, it's just a hell of a lot of work to sign distribution deals in different countries across the whole of Europe (there isn't one big distributor that covers the whole of mainland Europe, it's all fragmented, and that doesn't factor in other PAL countries like Australia and New Zealand, plus the Middle East who you have to cover too) and co-ordinate them to make sure the games all come out on the same day (or rather, as it is in Europe, during the same week; in mainland Europe games come out on Wednesdays or Thursdays, in the UK it's Fridays).

It's no wonder that most Japanese companies go through the bigger publishers (Sony, EA and Nintendo) who have all that set up already. I'm sure that the big Japanese companies who haven't done it yet will get around to it by the time next-generation is fully here, it's just a very big investment of time and money, that's all.

Yeah, Capcom used to go through Virgin last gen and SEGA was operating through Atari when they first went 3rd party.

It is sorta strange though that Nintendo's picking up various Capcom and SEGA DS games in the region (Project Rub 1-2, Phoenix Wright, Viewtiful Joe). And wasn't Alien Hominid GBA already published by Zoo Digital? Is this a reprint or maybe an error? Could they mean Nintendo is publishing the unreleased GC version?

Maybe someone who can should open a new thread about this.
The French Amazon site has boxart and also the release date of Zelda TP listed. I don't know
what to make of it since this is the only place I've seen this so far.

They say Twilight Princess is going to be available at February the 17th.

This is the boxart they're displaying:
http://img462.imageshack.us/img462/3333/b00009p51g01sclzzzzzzz4ln.jpg

TP is currently at number 9 in amazon.fr's game sales charts so you should find it easily.

I don't believe it till I see it. Living in Europe and being interested in videogames have made me a cynical bitch >___<

And yes, it's a joke, the time we've been waiting for Sotc for example. I mean.. COME ON?! It ain't a game packed with discussions exactly, so the translation shouldn't take eight months.. So what are they waiting for?

They are displaying Kakusha's fake boxart? :lol :lol

Also. Feb 17:th. Yeah right.

SotC> If they released it in the run up to Xmas it would have got swept under the carpet and even fewer people would have bought it than will buy it when it comes out in February. It's always better, from a sales point of view, to put niche games out in quieter patches as they get more attention and that's exactly what SotC (and Katamari) is.

Also, and I've said it before, most Japanese developers don't do the PAL version of their games until the NTSC versions (Japan and US) are out of the door, as that's what they're used to. It's crap but that's how it is.

As for the boxart, they should just use that one. It looks good.
The date is really strange, though. Somehow my hopes are up, although I know Amazon often fucks with users. Canadian PS3 or something. :)

Well there is the color of the triangle on the spine of the Gamecube game. Unfortunately I can't find a list on what colors means what language/s on the case and/or manual and/or game.
