Somebody needs to reboot Fear Effect

Fear Effect was one of the most underrated and best games of the PS1 generation and the sequel was just as good but then they forgot about the franchise. I loved the whole vibe, aesthetic and art style and I feel that they could really do some great things with modern capabilities. It could look like a playable adult anime.

The Twitter account for the Fear Effect one remake went dark a long time ago and there has been no updates about it since, which sucks.

The reboot is/was a zoomed out view, tactics game, rather than a fixed camera "action-adventure" (wikipedia's description, not mine).

Here ya go OP

It's trash

Oh sweet, didnt know such a thing existed!

One of my only memories of Fear Effect is failing a bomb/electrical panel puzzle over and over and dying in horrible ways.

It would be nice to even have the option to play the original games. It would be great to get a PC release, a remaster/remake would be great but just having the originals on PC would be fine.

Sadly nothing has been said about it since 2018

About the Reinvented remake: Not using cell shading is a mistake.

Its like that XIII remake. They went with a more bland style and the game lost most of its personality.

Taking a look at one of the more interesting RE clones to pop up in the late 90s and early 2000s.

Fear Effect has a heavy focus on puzzles, gun combat, and instant deaths. It pulled heavily from Chinese Mythology, splashes of Cyberpunk, John Woo and heist films, and plenty of fan service.

It made use of looping videos as backgrounds compared to static prerenders, and was a bit ahead of the curve with its cel-shaded approach to its graphics.

While not a huge seller, Fear Effect has its share of a devoted audience, yours truly included.

And after seeing the upcoming remake of the first title, Fear Effect Reinvited, which doesn't look overly promising, it got me thinking about the series and taking a look back on it. While it has its share of frustrations, there's plenty of fun and memorable moments and a unique flavor that have helped the Fear Effect series stand out.

In this video we'll look at the following:
• Fear Effect
• Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix
• The Cancelled Fear Effect: Inferno
• Fear Effect Sedna
• The future of the series with Fear Effect: Reinvented

Timestamps:
• 00:00 - Prelude
• 01:16 - Behind the Scene of Fear Effect
• 02:11 - Presentation and Gameplay of Fear Effect
• 07:19 - Going Through Fear Effect (Spoilers)
• 17:03 - Going Through Fear Effect 2 (Spoilers)
• 28:31 - The Cancelled Fear Effect: Inferno
• 30:34 - Fear Effect Sedna
• 38:19 - The Future of Fear Effect (Reinvented)

Probably in anticipation of it being added as a backward compatible PS1 game to the new PS+ service.
Oh man, that would be incredible.I have both the first game and Retro Helix in PS3 on BC but a PS5 BC version would be amazing, especially for the save features since its such a difficult series.Would make playing the games much more enjoyable.

Did you guys not see the teaser from a little while back?

I like what Forever Entertainment did with Panzer Dragoon and what they're doing with Front Mission, but this does not inspire confidence. I was excited when it was a visual retooling of Fear Effect and was basically a new classic RE-style game... now it just looks like a bad TPS.
