LmFao @ anyone thinking there are too many. Try playing the game and exploring the world to get an idea of the function of these items. Exchange the words "Korok seeds" with "environmental puzzles" because that's literally what they are. There's a bit of repetition, but they're mostly clever little rewards for exploration and puzzle solving. Not anywhere even close to being anything like achievements or a waste of time.
Seeing the reward you get for collecting all seeds, thats basically as good as any trophies/achievement. Its not like games are being built around trophies/achievements anyway.LmFao @ anyone thinking there are too many. I suggest you take your own advice and explore the world before you declare that the Korok puzzles aren't repetitive. Lmfao lol xDLmFao @ anyone thinking there are too many. So basically, it's pointless to even go for the Korok Seeds in the first place with that awful reward. Good to know when I eventually pick this game up on Switch.
indeedYou can even find wheat and rice by cutting grass, I believe.
Wow shit I didn't know this. I usually don't swing my weapon around randomly in BotW. I'm going to start trying this out! 100 Restless Crickets, here I come!
How many are needed to max out inventory?
Why the fuck would you put the number in the thread title, can't even safely browse the GAF main page these days.
Shame. :/
Spoilers for what you get at the link

I haven't even found one yet.
I cant even find the treasures in Uncharted, and I do try to search every room.. last one I played I had less than 20 from a total of 60 by the end of the game lol
so after all that work the reward is something pointless...yup, sounds like breath of the wild alright.
After reading this, the seeds themselves are poop. Read the description and it says something very similar about a weird smell and it looks like little poops. They literally created a game where you collect 900 poops to get rewarded with a giant one at the end.
He's on the path toI can't even find the fucking dude to exchange the 4 seeds I have
I think its the latter, if it have to be one of those choices. Its not like collecting things like this is a new concept, and achievements/trophies havnt changed the design in games, those things are just added as a layer over the game. Collecting all 900 seeds is also tied to the 100% completion stat in the game. Its most likely just something to add to the gameplay, another thing that you can do, to extend the longevity of the game.I guess this is Nintendo saying what they think of achievements and trophies. Or it's their way of commenting on the pointlessness of collecting useless crap in games.
And it also confirms that the seeds are Korok poop (the icon even looks like a small version of the big turd you get after collecting all 900). So basically every time you find a Korok it's like "Yahaha! You found me!" *throws its shit at you* "Bu-bye!".
You are talking into the wind.Korok Seeds are important in BotW because along with ores, they form the foundation of the replacement of "cutting grass" in Zelda. Starting from LttP, there has been a tradition where Zelda fans would cut every blade of grass and pick up every stone sometimes just hopeful for a heart or rupees. BotW does away with this tradition, but it helps to still reward players who go out of their way to explore the world in a curious way. It makes the world feel reactive. If you notice a little leaf windmill somewhere while passing by, or see a strange wind formation, or notice an imprint on a tree stump, or notice an odd rock formation, it makes it worth your while to stop and play around with the environment a little. The rewards you get then add up, and have a real benefit when you trade them in. Overall it's a plus to the game experience to have these things littered all over the world. It's not something you are supposed to actively seek out obsessively, which is why there isn't a tracker to encourage you to do so, unlike the shrines.

Listening to podcasts I had the feeling some people were not very good at finding these things.I fought the final boss today and thought I'd searched the game pretty thoroughly. I found...six of them.
I thought there was no more than a hundred. Yeah, I'm never gonna get this.
Literally giving you a piece of shit as a reward for so much time and effort being put into their game is the most wonderfully passively aggressive act I've seen in years.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, no one has as much open contempt for Nintendo fans as Nintendo themselves!
Exactly, I'm sort of glad there isn't something awesome behind them all, because as it is now you already get rewarded for collecting them and they are already a rewarding collectible inheritly because both exploring to find the puzzle and actually solving the puzzle are fun and exciting. If I knew I was missing out for getting them all, that may tempt me to spoil things by following a guide or go insane taking all day to find the darn things. To the very few people in here who are - hilariously - upset that they don't get a great reward, what exactly would you want? Some op armour or weapon? I don't see how that makes a difference at all, surely the fun of being a collector is that you enjoy collecting? Do you honestly care about getting some skin or weapon at a point in the game where you have most likely done everything already.
